I had the California burrito during a recent visit here. It was quite good but the carne asada was a little under seasoned and a little tough. The avocado crema, lime wedges and salsa verde from the self-serve salsa bar helpful and bordered on necessary. The service was very warm and friendly, and food came out pretty quickly. They appeared to be doing good business at lunch on a weekday and were getting to go orders out promptly. The stools for their high tops were not the most comfortable, but I wasn't there for too long, so it wasn't a huge deal.
Nice little Mexican eats restaurant on India street not far from the shore. You pay at the counter and get your food. Some seating inside and outside but very casual. The salsas are prepacked so that's easy. Service was easy and nice. Got a $17 fish burrito and after tip came out to $20. Delicious and filling.
I'm so upset Yelp steered me wrong in San Diego... I wanted very much to like these but there was absolutely zero flavor to these tacos (both chicken and steak). Also came with no limes, what kind of authentic Mexican place doesn't include limes with tacos? The steak was so dang dry making it tough to chew. I had the chance to go to another spot but this was closer to my hotel and I was short on time. Only good thing was the staff when I was placing the order but otherwise skip this place and try any other for true authentic Mexican.

I knew I was going to regret having Mexican food in little Italy. I was craving rolled tacos so bad and decided to give this place a try. If I told you I forced myself to eat them...like I was not enjoying every single bite. For chicken rolled tacos they were crispy and I mean to the point where the chicken itself was crispy. Felt like I was eating fried chicken. I couldn't eat the entire portion so I left the toppings...I can already feel my stomach. The tortillas were super crispy. Comparing this dish to a regular taco shop...I mean, at least the taco shops have meat from end to end of the tortilla- this one felt cheated. Overall not a place I would recommend. Rolled tacos are the easiest and this was a big no no for me. Didn't satisfy my craving. Never again. The staff was friendly though. Perhaps something else? Who knows, but not my first choice for Mexican food.

While I was exploring little Italy for the first time, I was in the mood for tacos. Came across this place and man was the food good. The price may have been a little high but it was for sure worth it in my opinion. The service was good, I didn't get the lady's name but she was very nice and kind. The atmosphere of the place is very nice and simple. You can sit in or outside, they have a little bar with sauces. I would definitely come back again.

Went there this morning for late breakfast. I ordered a Leo breakfast burrito. They accidentally brought me a carne asada burrito with egg. It was still delicious, very flavorful, the steak was so tender, and the tortilla was toasted perfectly. The staff offered to make my original order and package it to -go for free, even thought I loved what they brought me. I also got a vanilla iced coffee, which was pretty average but hit the spot. Also got to try the verde chilaquiles, which were perfect. Good sauce/chip ratio and the eggs were cooked perfectly. Staff were very friendly and service was pretty quick
I've been so excited for this Mexican spot to open in Little Italy after walking past the "coming soon" sign for over a year! Finally went and picked up some tacos for takeout. The restaurant is counter service, with a small seating area, although they must mostly do takeout because there was no one inside on a saturday night. I got the adobada and fish tacos with the side of rice and beans. The tacos were both decent, but the salsas were a bit plain (the "medium" salsa verde had zero spice) and the rice and beans weren't great. There are lots of great (and lower price) mexican spots in SD that I would choose over La Casa Verde, but i'm happy to have a decent new taco/burrito spot in Little Italy and will probably give it another try.
I stopped in this place for a quick breakfast Sunday morning. I ordered the Grilled Veggie Breakfast Burrito, but oddly enough, it does not come with grilled vegetables, which I quickly pointed out. The burrito comes with "black beans, scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, potato wedges, cilantro & pico de gallo" (La Casa Verde, 2025). After I ordered it and paid, I asked the lady at the county what are the grilled veggies? I stated, that the burrito needed some grilled onions, peppers, zucchini, and maybe even mushrooms to call it a grilled veggies burrito. She agreed, and asked the kitchen to put some grilled vegetables in the burrito for me. They added onions, zucchini, and cauliflower. I was not a fan of the cauliflower mixed with eggs, but I decided to be grateful. The burrito was tasty. To make a long story short, if you are going to call a burrito "grilled Veggie" please put actually grilled Veggie on the burrito. There's a host of vegetables out there to choose from. Also, do not mix the black beans with the eggs, they discolor the eggs into a off putting grayish color. Just place the beans in the burrito. The service was good, and the salsa at the salsa bar were tasty and fresh. Inside and outside seating is available. They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Great family owned and operated Mexican food spot in little Italy. The decor is highly instagramable with cute tiles and a plant wall. Don't sleep on the tres leches cake - by far the best I've had at a taco place. The spice of the atheer salad was really pretty - but be prepared for some heat with it! Friendly staff who takes your order at the counter.

I came here on a Tuesday around 4 PM. When I walked in, I let one of the employees know that I was waiting for a friend to find parking and would order once he arrived. I then went to use the restroom, only for the same employee to come get me and tell me that the restroom was for customers only despite me literally just explaining that I would be ordering once my friend arrived. It was a little awkward and unnecessary. I ordered a Hazy IPA on draft, and I was pleasantly surprised by their craft beer selection. They actually have a pretty nice variety, especially for a Mexican restaurant. I also ordered the: *Grilled Fish Taco: this was recommended by one of the male employees. Unfortunately, this was a huge disappointment. The fish itself was really good, but the taco was incredibly messy and poorly put together. The tortilla also wasn't warmed or cooked enough, which really took away from the overall experience. It was basically falling apart as I tried to eat it. On the positive side, the male employee who brought out my taco was really kind and attentive. He had my food out in less than five minutes and even asked if I needed napkins or a fork, which I appreciated. There's both indoor seating and uncovered outdoor high-top seating. The place was basically empty when I arrived, so finding a table wasn't an issue. Overall, this is a convenient spot with a surprisingly good craft beer selection, but the customer service was hit or miss, wasn't a fun atmosphere, and the food wasn't good enough for me to want to come back. This eatery has a casual and inviting atmosphere in Little Italy. Parking was a little challenging on a Sunday evening, but not impossible. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating. Service was standard and sufficient during our recent visit, but it took 15-20 minutes even though the place wasn't busy. Got the shrimp burrito (no black beans or guacamole) and birria tacos. The taste of both items was okay. The burrito particularly had way to much red cabbage, not enough sauce, and the ingredients were not evenly spread. Went early in the morning for breakfast and didn't disappoint. Breakfast burrito was huge and had the right portion of egg, potato, chorizo, and cheese. Quality tortilla. Selection of lime, salsa, and crema. read more
The workers were very helpful. Came in during off peak hours and had a nice conversation about what they recommend. The surf & turf taco was seriously incredible. I'm still thinking about it! The tacos were slightly larger than street taco size and had lots of filling. Two were perfect for an afternoon snack. I got to sit out on the patio which I always enjoy, too. the neighborhood is lively and fun to watch. I can't wait to return. read more
La Casa Verde recently opened in a suite of the Little Italy Family Housing that used to be the home of a local acai bowl chain. By chance, it also happens to be across India St from the Consulado General De Mexico. As indicated by its moniker, the interior decor had lots of green color. The inside seating could hold close to 40 customers. A self-service salsa bar was stationed to the right of the service counter. You place an order at the counter, and they will bring the food to your table. During the soft opening period, there was a promotion of $5 for each of the five taco varieties (adobada, carne asada, fish, pollo asado, veggie). The full menu was not yet available so I chose one each of the first three for my meal. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. One of them delivered the platter to my seat. These were regular sized tacos that were dressed nicely. I didn't need to use any salsa from the bar as there was ample flavor in each taco. The best of the trio was the Fish because the fillet was perfectly fried and crispy. Both the pork in the adobada and the beef in the carne asada were tender. Most of the tacos have been kept at the $5 price point which is good. My concern is with the burritos. All of them cost $15 or more which is expensive considering there is a fairly new taco spot several blocks north on the same street that charges between $10 and $13 for similar size burritos. A specific example would be a California Burrito which has a $17 price tag here versus $11 at the other place. That's a substantial difference of over 50% I gave a 4.5 star rating for my dining experience at La Casa Verde. read more

When your neighbor and 'man about town' Patrick say you got to try this new taco spot...you put it on the list. When he says it's his families and Uncle Leo will make sure I'm taken care of... I drop everything and head over immediately! I love my spots in Little Italy.... But I was missing a good taco spot in the neighborhood. I know my tacos. I love tacos. Patrick was right on both counts.... This is the Taco Spot... and Leo will take care of you. I started out with the Birria and Adobada tacos. Then on to the Asada and the Fish.... All were fresh and full of flavor. I have also had the burritos and, today, the Baja Salad.... It was perfect! Thanks Patrick for the usual spot on intelligence. Made a quick stop in Little Italy . Found this LA CASA VERDE . The only available food they are serving are Tacos for now since they just opened Monday May 5 , 2025 . But they said tomorrow Friday May 9 they will start serving their Full Menu . At first i got the Adobada & Fish Taco and Horchata Aguas frescas . After tasting the first batch of my order , I ordered another set of 2 tacos , I ordered again their Adobada Taco , I really like their Adobada , the meats are tender and delicious and also i ordered their Carne Asada . Their Fish Taco was good , crispy fish and flavorful . As always parking in Little Italy is tough . Staff are all friendly , thanks Peyton for the wonderful service . Nice breeze because they have huge windows , they have outdoor seating too . Inside I see 7 tables so far and 2 outdoors . Good food , their Adobada and Fish Tacos are really good ones . read more

All I can say is , wow! For starters, the service by Lauren was A+++. She was super kind, respectful, and made great conversation. I wish everyone was like this woman! Food was absolutely amazing, my fiance got the Birria Ramen, which was to die for. I got the California burrito, and I'll be dreaming about it for the rest of my life. Great salsa bar as well. I was walking my dog Lucky and trying to figure out what I wanted to do. Not sure if I wanted to have a bar bite with a beer or something else until I passed by La Casa Verde, and realized I haven't checked out one of the only Mexican food joints in the area. I ordered a bean and cheese burrito. I forgot the name of my salad, but it's the one that is first on the menu underneath the salad section that comes with fish and I also ordered the corn ribs. I feel like you can tell how good a place is going to be from the beans which I thought were very tasty but the cheese wasn't melted in my burrito which is a little disappointing, but I'm still happy with my leftovers that I'll reheat and allow it to melt The salad was also delicious. I thought it was just a little underdressed, but Axel the server who took my order, gave me two different dressings that I was able to try with my salad and it was great. The corn ribs however had me dancing in my seat from how good they were. It was like an elevated street corn but didn't have that Tajin tang that I sometimes don't want on my corn. Honestly, I can't wait to go back just to eat that again. But the one thing that I really wanted to mention, was the good karma that Axel showed me as I was already a block away from the restaurant and he came and brought over my $55 change that I had dropped on the floor. My husband and I had our Lunch here on their First day of Soft opening, it was only Tacos that was available that day. Then we came back with our Son after a week and more Tacos and more food selections were available. Got our Son the following food to try: *FISH TACO *SURF & TURF TACO *ADOBADA TACO *SHRIMP TACO *BIRRIA TACO *CALIFORNIA BURITO Everything tasted good, but our Favorites were the Fish Taco & ADOBADA and the SURF & TURF. The CALIFORNIA BURITO was not as good, I had better from other stores. But for us the Tacos all tasted good. Not a big space inside, but we are used to just ordering to go .The day that we came with our son it was a Busy day, but luckily we got perfect seats. Their service is Superb, very friendly staff. AXL is awesome, he went to our table multiple times to check on us. Parking is the annoying part since they're in Little Italy, it can be packed with tourists too, it depends on the time you will go, mostly it is busy during dinner time on the weekend. read more

Quick service and large burritos, but a bit pricey for what it is. I always go for an adobada and unfortunately kept wishing for more flavor in every bite, it was mostly just salty, and the salsas were lacking in flavor as well. With so many incredible Mexican places in SD, I don't know if I'd choose La Casa Verde again but it was worth the try and a quick Mexican option in Little Italy. read more

Twice in 48 Hours. That Should Tell You Everything. I don't do that. I'm visiting San Diego and have a list of places to try -- and yet I found myself back here the very next day because the tacos just wouldn't leave my mind. I had the Birria both times (non-negotiable at this point), and on my two visits I also worked my way through the Carne Asada, the shrimp, and the adobado. Every single one of them was built with care -- generous, fresh ingredients that actually tasted like someone gave thought to what went into them and how they came together. I did make a pilgrimage to the most talked-about taco spot in San Diego while I was here. It was solid. It was cheaper. But the ingredients just didn't have the same vitality, and you could feel the difference in every bite. You get what you pay for, and here, you get more than you expect. Now -- Louren. I have to talk about Louren. She greeted every single customer who walked through that door with the same warmth, the same energy, the same genuine light. Not performed hospitality. Actual sunshine. That is genuinely rare, especially behind a counter during a busy service. She made the whole experience feel personal. Louren, if you read this: you are an asset to this place, and you should be proud of the energy you bring every single day. This is the best taco I've had in a long time. I'll be back before I leave San Diego -- and probably the next time I'm here too. read more

I am so glad this place is finally open!! We need a taco shop in Little Italy. The service is definitely great, especially when you dine in. Axel is great, he is kind and thorough. Came here Monday night with my family. We ordered 3 cali burritos, an order of loaded fries and 2 shrimp tacos. The salsa options are delicious, and the food was amazing!!! Also the prices are pretty good for the food tou receive. Definitely check it out. They open 8am-10pm most nights. I will have to come back for their breakfast options too! We sat outside and it was a nice ambiance. read more

We'd been eyeing the "coming soon" signs for a while, so we were excited to see La Casa Verde finally open last week! We stopped in for dinner over the weekend and were impressed. You order at the counter, grab a table, and the staff brings your food out--or you can do takeout if you prefer. Either way, the process was quick and easy, and the staff was super friendly and welcoming. I tried the veggie and fish tacos--both fried (I usually go for grilled), but they were delicious! The veggie taco with cauliflower and zucchini was one of the best I've had in a long time. My husband had the surf & turf and carne asada tacos--he liked both, but the surf n' turf was the standout. They also have a sauce bar with various salsas, sauces, and peppers--the creamy avocado was our favorite. Taco prices range from $5 to $7, and you can order them à la carte or with rice and beans. Portions were generous--I had two tacos with sides and couldn't finish everything. So happy to see La Casa Verde open--Little Italy needed a solid Mexican spot! Great food, excellent service, and an inviting atmosphere--we'll definitely be back to try more! read more

Little Italy finally has its own go-to spot for Mexican tacos--and more. We were craving tacos and decided to grab a few things to go. Service was quick and friendly (shoutout to Payton, who made us feel right at home). We ordered the adobada, carne asada, and fish tacos. Each one was generously filled and packed with flavor. The adobada was the clear winner for us, with a perfect balance of spice and savor. The chunky guacamole was fresh and delicious. We also tried the chicharrones, which came nestled on a bed of guac. It was divine--crispy, tender pork belly meets creamy avocado goodness. The space is clean, relaxed, and not overly loud. They serve beer and wine. While the current menu already hits the spot, we'd love to see a horchata station and maybe even some chilaquiles for breakfast in the future. We're definitely coming back to explore more of the menu! read more

I work nearby and saw this new spot and wanted to try it. I got the fish taco and the veggie taco. Both were a good size, and very fresh tasting. The beer battered fish was light and crispy and the fresh cabbage and mango salsa provided a freshness to the taco. I added some of the red salsa and the avocado salsa from the salsa bar. It added a little more creaminess which was great. The veggie taco had tempura fried zucchini and something else. I didnt expect the veggies to be fried but it was a pleasant surprise as it is a little different. The zucchini was firm and fresh tasting despite being fried and it also came with the fresh mango Pico salsa which was a good contrast. I felt full but not gross and weighed down after eating. I could have probably used just a touch more salt on my tacos but I'm a salt lover. The service was friendly and fast. read more
