The walk into the place was neat and the atmosphere was cool. It seemed like it would have been a better experience because soon as you get downstairs you can smell the steaks! It's a presentation display. I would say for $140 it wasn't worth it. We got two cocktails an one glass of wine. Started with a soup and house salad which was not a great first impression- tasted like can soup and old salad that was made hours ago. This place is my go to spot for any day of the week and loved the New Years celebration they did :) (I'll post a picture) Mario, Isidro, Josh and the head chef (wish I could remember his name) are always courteous and provide the best service that makes this place worthwhile. (Mario specifically makes the best French martini I've ever had in my entire life period!) Twice baked potato, asparagus with mushrooms, cheese bread, are great starters (and I eat them sometimes as the course hehe) and will admit some of the dishes leave a little room for improvement (had the shrimp cocktail once) but the reason for the 4 star and not 5 star rating is due to management. It seems like ALL of the staff, from the men to the women are on edge, and once I chatted up a waitress and said it was due to them being recorded / strict management. I usually just click on this to check out for updates but saw some reviews slamming my favorites and had to clear the air, just because you want to take advantage doesn't mean your mean spirited review that's one sided isn't going to go checked. I'll definitely stop coming by if this place keeps piling on the air of tension it has already. When you walk into the building you'll walk down some stairs into an older feeling restaurant it's cozy and dark.. like a cave? We got seated at a table across from the large bar, as I fantasized about a booth, which seem to be for the larger parties. The menu came in form of a iced tray on wheels with fresh cuts of meat and seafood. This was interesting I was able to choose any cut they offered or prime rib as well as shrimp, crab legs, or lobster. I chose the rib eye and full lobster tail, you can order half tail, but why would you? The food was delicious not over cooked, delicate, flavorful, and the correct temperature. The wine I chose paired perfectly with my meal, complimentary cheese bread is served, and free dessert with check in offer. We dined here on Saturday with another couple for the first time. The ambiance is intersting and old school, but very dark. I wasn't all that impressed with the meat. Yes, it was fresh and you selected your meat choice on a chart....which was your menu with no price....lol. I didn't find the food any special or steak exceptionally delicious over another. I tasted more grill marks and one of our friends ended up getting rid of more fat around his rib eye than anything. The room being dark helped in hiding the fat all around....lol. The price I thought was reasonable and the dish came with a side and salad so I wasn't upset with the price overall. I just don't think it was exceptional that's all. To be honest we still love Ruth Christ Steak House and nothing comes close to their steaks. They do have live music but it starts late around 9:30ish in another room, so plan accordingly if you are planning on listening to live band. read more

The exterior of the restaurant isn't much on the eyes, but after one walks through the elevator, it is as though they went through a time machine back into the 60's. The interior is intimately lit and the music is at a comfortable level. We had Jessie for our server and she was great. She was very knowledge able of the menu and was very patient with us while we were trying to decide upon our order. Weekends are nice, but I usually do not attend towards the end of the evening around 9ish -10pm, so I am not sure how the crowd is beforehand. I can see how older and wannabe sophisticated people might expect more during their dining experience, but this aint no Ritz Carlton. I always have a blast and the people are very cool and the crowd has great energy. When we walked in we were kinda confused but I who I believe was the manager assisted us on where to go , we took a elevator down to the dining area and they had live entertainment which I feel like it's been FOREVER because of covid and they have dimmed lights to create a romantic atmosphere. I have lived in Orange County my entire life and have driven past La Cave on an almost weekly basis, but I've never gone in to try their food even though they have three of my favorite things: Steak, Seafood, and Cocktails. This past week I thought I'd finally give it a try, and boy am I glad I did! My waitress was Taylor and she was friendly and knowledgeable on the menu and made a great appetizer suggestion! (Thanks, Taylor the steak bites were awesome!) my petite steak entrée with the double baked potato and Caesar salad were also delicious, and I'm sure I could write love poetry about the bread. I was heartbroken that they didn't have any Clam Chowder that night (I came in on a Wednesday) but Taylor told me to come back on a Friday or Saturday and they'd have it for sure! Before I left for the night, she suggested I stay to watch the live entertainment that was about to start. So I went into the entertainment lounge and had a few more drinks. The bartender behind the bar (sorry, I didn't catch her name, but she was blonde with a bun in her hair!) was friendly and fast on service. I did end up going back to La Cave for on Saturday for the Clam Chowder. Taylor was my waitress again and even remembered me and why I was there that evening. I want to say I really like the environment and it's super romantic we love the shrimp, shrimp cocktail and martini were great HOWEVER, I want to share with how disappointing about the Fillet which is literally a combination of meat glue!
