This is a delayed review for a private event at Olea. I reached out to Olea after talking to maybe 20 other restaurants about hosting a party of 35 folks for my sister's bridal shower. Many restaurants had so many restrictions (little to no decorations, flowers had to be put away during lunch, no gift table, etc) that it put a damper in the planning process until we reach out to Olea. Glows: Kacie, Sten, and all the staff at Olea were amazing! Responses to my emails were done within 24-48 hours. Kacie and Sten were super communicative prior to the event and were transparent about what they could and could not do. They were super flexible with everything in terms of decorations, ambiance, drinks and food. Sten was super helpful the day before and the day of, offering to help setup decorations even though we were the ones responsible for that. Many of us had never been there due to being from Northern CA so it was a risk in booking the space for a luncheon, but the food and drinks were amazing! We were running behind during the luncheon and Sten was super flexible with allowing us to stay a little longer. I was super appreciative of that since it was a Bridal Shower and we wanted to make sure we were able to play all the games but also mingle and eat! Olea was absolutely amazing! The food, service, and ambience were 10/10. Our server did a great job being very attentive to our table the entire night whether it was explaining all of the items, keeping our wine glasses full, or asking if we needed anything else. Each item we got from appetizers to drinks to entrees tasted as amazing as it looked! We ordered the brussel sprouts, fried green tomatoes, focaccia bread for appetizers, as well as halibut, giant meatball, and wagyu burgers for dinner (all were so delicious!) We were seated outside and it was great as it was more private/quiet and the outdoor area is enclosed. Great restaurant that focuses on new American located in a busy strip mall in Newport Beach. The vibes here feel like they're casual enough to have a fun night out or drinks with friends and upscale enough to be a nice date night or a place to have a celebratory meal. The folks and service here were amazing. My friend had her dog with her and we were looking for a place to grab a bite on the later side. We checked to see if they would accommodate us since they had a patio area. And they did! I'm not sure if it's their usual policy, but that was very kind of them and I was excited to get my eat on. I ended up ordering the schnitzel and a beer. I think the schnitzel is one of their more popular items and I haven't had one in a while. I thought it was delicious. Really hit the spot and great rec from the waiter. Overall, just a great place to dine at multiple times a week if you live in the area or fitting for lots of different occasions. The service here was truly exceptional, and the staff made us feel very well taken care of throughout the evening. I also really enjoyed the ambiance and the live music--it created a lovely, welcoming atmosphere. While the food didn't quite meet my personal expectations, that may come down to individual taste. The halibut was a bit dry for me, and the pastas felt more subtle in flavor than I tend to prefer. This review is a bit late but nonetheless, warranted. Amazing experience just before Valentine's Day weekend and the food and drinks were top tier. The hardest part was picking food items on their menu. Luckily our server, Lauren, graciously guided us through the menu and helped me select options suited for my requests. Her knowledge of the menu was thoroughly impressive. We got the weekend chef special of the filet with lobster and then the agnolotti appetizer, as well as the fired green tomato and burrata. We had Short Rib pappardelle and Chicken Schnitzel with spätzle., Short rib is melt in your mouth tender with the right amount of fat(not all lean meat), pasta cooked al dente w/a slight chew--the butter,cheese and rib sauce were all incorporated well and absorbed into the pasta! My chicken breast was pounded out to the right 'thickness' to be still moist after frying and the Meyer lemon butter sauce is quite fragrant. The spätzle pasta is not mushy even after stir frying with a medley of fresh vegetables. Tasty dish. Staff from hostess to waitstaff to bus staff are all efficient and displayed great teamwork. The gentleman hosting was very welcoming when we walked in and made us feel the service was going to be amazing.... We sat down and looked at the menu briefly, our server came within 3min to ask if we were ready to order but we still hadn't looked at the menu throughly so we asked for some waters and a few more minutes. I got the 45 Day Aged 22oz Bone in Ribeye Steak and before I ordered it, I asked Taylor if he could change the blue cheese mashed potatoes for the melted garlic & crème fraiche potatoes. He assured me he'd change it for my dish.... Unfortunately my plate was dropped off and I couldn't really tell that the blue cheese mashed potatoes weren't the melted garlic & crème fraiche potatoes, until he walked away... We waited for about 10min and he could not be seen.. We wanted to order drinks but he never returned after dropping off our plates. He left for 20min and never came back to check on our drinks or to ask how the food was. When he finally returned, he did ask how our food was and I did say my steak was good but I didn't get a chance to eat the melted garlic & crème fraiche potatoes I had ordered. I might have been wrong so I asked him to see the potatoes on my plate to see if they were the blue cheese mashed potatoes or the melted garlic & crème fraiche potatoes... He said they were the blue cheese mashed potatoes... He then asked if I wanted him to take them back to the kitchen but at that point, my steak was fairly cold. He didn't seem apologetic and then asked if we were ready for the check. I was ready to call it a night... I'll share photos of our food because I did like the steak and the person at the door. Wow! My husband and I have been blown away by this place. Our server Caroline was the absolute best! She took care of us in the most amazing way possible! We went here for a date on a Thursday night and lo and behold, they have live music! It was fabulous and incredibly romantic. She recommended the chicken for the entree and it did not disappoint! My husband got the short rib and the sauce was right on spot. She made sure our waters are always filled, our food was great or if our cocktails need refilling. She is the definition of great service! We made sure to end the night with the ice cream cookies and that was the icing on the cake! What an incredible night at an incredible place! Booked a quiet table in the corner for a double date and had the best night ever!! We were so enthralled with everything we forgot to take pictures!! The staff at all of these restaurants are all so warm and friendly and very helpful with tips on what to order. We started with the Brussels sprouts and the truffle fries which both were perfection. My friend and I both had the farmers market pasta, my husband had the spiny lobster pasta, and her husband had the schnitzel. It was all so very flavorful. We finished off with the cookies and the cheesecake - I would return just to eat the cheesecake again!! I went on a date (first date, blind date) and arrived early on Tuesday night at 7:10pm for a 7:30pm reservation. They sat me quickly (Andrew was nice enough) and got my drink order. Goldeneye Pinot Noir - very good. I waited and prepared for the date. She arrived and we ordered the agnolotti and crab cakes followed by the branzino special. I honestly never write reviews, but this one felt necessary. We're local to the area and we love dining at places like Nick's, Ospi, and Trenta, so we came in with pretty high expectations for Olea. Unfortunately, it just didn't live up to the standard we're used to at that price point. The food was the biggest disappointment -- overly salty across multiple dishes and just not the quality you'd expect. When you're paying prices comparable to some of the better spots nearby, you expect a certain level of execution, and this fell short. Cocktails were okay, but nothing memorable. Not bad, just not something we'd come back for. One thing that really stood out (in a frustrating way) was the kids situation. There's no actual kids menu -- it's just read off -- and the pricing was basically the same as a regular entrée. On a positive note, the service was solid. The hostess and our waiter were both friendly, attentive, and did a great job throughout the night. I used to frequent this restaurant years ago and will not be returning. Here's a generous 3 stars. For nostalgia, my partner and I decided to drop in for cocktails and snacks early in the evening. We sat at the bar and after I order a cocktail a literal paper plane lands in the chair next to me- the host stand threw it not sure why especially at a restaurant with $17 cocktails.. super classy. The staff is chattering like there isn't a single customer around, but there were a few tables seated and a couple of us at the bar. The bartenders were fine and attentive, but admittedly didn't recall how to make a drink that was once a popular on the menu. Thank you for "bringing back the duck wings" because they were the highlight. The fries we got looked like they were scraped from the bottom of the bag, so small you had to eat them with a fork (think the size of your fingernail). Rosè was just fine. We went on a Saturday evening around 6:30, no reservations. The hostess was welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. I was a little worried about our clothes but we called ahead and were reassured that everyone was welcome in everything, so this put me at ease. We were able to see and hear the live music which was a nice surprise, dates, families, girls night out, the gorgeous bar, and just the overall interaction between everyone. We started with the chef's soup of the day which was a chilli with 5 cheeses and crab wontons served with a mini salad and Thai chili sauce to die for. They were flavorful and the Thai chilli sauce was delicious. Our first round of drinks were the Violet tendencies and George Lucas. They were sooo good! You definitely taste the liquor but it not overpowered by the liqueur and other ingredients. For our meals, I went with the Spiny lobster tail and herb pappardelle pasta and my honey had the Cabernet braised prime beef short rib. Both were nice portions, flavorful, and did not disappoint. His short rib was tender and my lobster was cooked perfect. For our final drinks he switched to the Violet tendencies and I tried the Pinkies out. The Pinkies out was yummy! But our fave so far is Violet tendencies. It was so refreshing to go to a restaurant and have everything go perfect from beginning to end. A lot of places have lacked this since the pandemic. The staff, the service, the food, and the guests were all amazing. Oh and the manager/owner I'm not sure who he was, also walked around to check on diners as well, that was appreciated.
