Stunning spot on the harbor. Fun tiki vibe decor throughout the restaurant as well. We came in for lunch and we were seated at the window with a beautiful view of the harbor. Sierra, our server, greeted us warmly and made a few recommendations from their menu. We ordered our entrees as she circled back with our waters and within minutes our food was out. I ordered the Loco Moco and it was wonderful! Reminiscent of my days in Maui, wonderful beef gravy served over two over easy eggs with ground beef patty (cooked to a medium rare, juicy and delicious) and white rice. Hubs had the beachside burger and found it to be very tasty. Our son had fish tacos and felt they were delicious, he did comment that the hot sauce (on the side) was a bit too spicy. Overall a solid choice, checks all the boxes!

Billy's is sandwiched between two 4 star plus restaurants and equally rated $$$ for cost. Went there only because someone in my group wanted Pina Colada's. I never usually go to places that are 3 stars and they lived up to it. 5 white wines on the list 4 out of 5 are the pungent Green grass Sauvignon blanc and Chardonnay which most people hate but restaurants are pushed to carry. The last selection was Pinot Grigio and of course they were out of it. Service was slow and grueling to wait for. Got the pu pu platter. Pork ribs were dry and the rest of the items were just okay except the tuna which was good. Would not recommend.

I just celebrated my birthday with a group of 9 friends after a Duffy boat ride and everything was fantastic. The highlight for me was the clam chowder. It was by far the best I've ever had, hands down! We got a couple of poo poo platters and other dishes which all were delicious. The service was attentive and genuinely helpful. Our waitress checked in at the right times, and the manager even came by to say hi. The atmosphere was perfect for celebrating with people you actually want to be around. If you're looking for great food and solid service, this is the place. I highly recommend it.

The views, decor, and service brought me back to Billy's. The tiki vibe is enhanced with great views of the harbor and softly playing chill covers of popular music in the background. If you love cocktails...and who doesn't? Billy's Mai Tai is very tasty served with a wedge of pineapple. They hit the mark with the crushed ice in this drink. The 12 oz pork chop with pineapple teriyaki is served with your choice of 2 sides. The pork chop was perfectly prepared and the sauce really added great flavor. I am a huge fan of McDonald's fries and these are like elevated McDonald's fries. They are not greasy and you can tell they are made with real potatoes. The second side I ordered was the vegetables. This visit they were a combination of many different fresh vegetables that were tender and delicious.

I can't say enough good things about Billy's. First of all the signage & decor upon entering is so cool. Tiki beach vibes are spot on. The view straight through the place to the water & boats is amazing. We were sat in a curved booth that looked out at the water & cute restaurant. I got a Billy's mule, my husband got a Mai Tai. Both fantastic. Love the glassware! Came decked out with fruit decor. The server was friendly & attentive. We ordered the coconut shrimp for an appetizer. Huge, crunchy & delicious. The sauce was the best. Thick, and sweet, clung to the shrimp. My fish tacos were the best I had in Newport Beach. Wahoo fish was firm & tasty. The perfect amount of slaw & it didn't fall apart. This visit my husband got the pork chop with veggies & french fries. Large portions here. He loved it. We didn't have dessert, but they looked great. Maybe next time. The woman's bathroom was clean & decor was adorable. Can't wait to come back!

i've only been here for drinks and appetizers so maybe my review would change if i went there for a full dinner. the appetizers were great, i highly recommend the green bean fries and the cheese bread. the drinks are really good too! never had to wait for a table at the bar luckily but i think it gets packed later in the night. nice view of the water as well.

Billy's at the Beach has that relaxed island-by-the-water vibe that makes you feel like you're on a mini vacation. Right on the Newport Harbor, it's breezy, lively, and full of that warm, coastal energy. It's the kind of place you go for the ambiance first...and everything else comes after. FOOD: 6/10 DRINKS: 8/10 SERVICE: 9/10 AMBIANCE: 9/10 FOOD: 6/10 The food is okay. We had their sampler, which was a good way to try a bit of everything. Some bites were solid, with the skewers being the standout, while others felt a little flat or forgettable. The coconut shrimp was the most coconut-heavy version I've ever had; the thick coconut flakes really overpowered the shrimp itself. Overall, the menu leans more toward standard bar-style Hawaiian fare than something you'd go out of your way for. Not bad, just not particularly impressive. DRINKS: 8/10 The drinks are good, with the Mai Tai being the standout, and I believe one of their specialties. Tropical, flavorful, and perfectly on theme. It was definitely STRONG haha. I tried the watermelon margarita, but it tasted more like ice than actual watermelon, so it didn't quite land the same way. SERVICE: 9/10 Service was one of the highlights. Our server was friendly, attentive, and upbeat. She kept everything moving smoothly, even when it was slightly busy. AMBIANCE: 9/10 This is where Billy really shines. With harbor views, tiki-inspired décor, and a steady ocean breeze, it nails that mini-vacation feel. It's lively but still comfortable, and one of the best spots in Newport if you're going for atmosphere. We were allowed to go outside to look at the view, which I recommend you do before leaving. Billy's at the Beach is worth the visit for the scenery, drinks, and island vibes. The sampler was fun to try, but the food as a whole didn't wow us. Still, the ambiance and service make it a solid choice when you want to unwind by the water and soak up that tropical energy away from the islands.

Wow, Mai Tai lives up to the hype. Delicious and really strong!

Every review mentions the Mai Tai and I now see why. Believe the hype, they are fantastic here. Place has a relaxing Polynesian vibe with beautiful view of Newport Harbor. Valet is $10 cash only plus tip but it's expected in this area. My wife and I really enjoyed the food. Weekend has a brunch menu but they also have the regular menu. I had a daily fish special that came with a flavor packed serrano chile sauce. Served with surprisingly tasty vegetables and fries. The Mai Tai packed a punch so I also tried a virgin pina colada. Coconut cream pie was AMAZING and highly recommend. Service was pretty good given how packed they were. I really enjoyed the experience and can't wait to try more stuff!

Came here for Valentine's Day with my husband and had a wonderful time. They had a special multi-course menu that was pretty good (Please consider adding more vegan and vegetarian friendly options). The waiter was very nice and attentive. Views are always beautiful. I will say, I would have preferred to be in the main dining room where the live music was instead of in the bar area which is where the event was held but it certainly didn't ruin the evening, just not as romantic as it could have been. Drinks were awesome as always. Will be back when I'm in the area :)

This is Hawaiian inspired restaurant that you can feel the Hawaiian feel the moment you walk in. They are located right at the water with limited parking, but offer valet parking. I went here with my coworkers based on the recommendation of one of them and she was not wrong. They offer plenty of options that you would typically see in Hawaii. My bf loves Hawaii and I for sure have to bring him here to try this place. I wasn't hungry, but tried a coconut shrimp which was delicious and HUGE! I also tried their cheese bread and I really enjoyed it. My favourite when in HI is the Lava Flow drink. I didn't see it on the menu so I asked the server. She was super nice and said they can make it and it's part of the mocktails. She did say that they could probably make the real deal (with rum) and they did! It was delicious! If you are in town and want to try something different with a laid back feel, good food and good view, I highly recommend this place!

First time here for some reason. We parked nearby at a metered lot. Our table was ready but we opted to sit at the bar because we wanted to order happy hour. The bartender was friendly & efficient. Drinks were great & only $10. Calamari was simply okay. The sliders were tasty. Ambiance is nice retro tropical. We'll be back when in the area.

    Sometimes

Is this restaurant still in business? I tried calling the number and no chance of getting a hold of them.

Yes they're still in business. Just doing a remodel and hopefully will be open in another week.

Is this restaurant open for outdoor dining?

    Yes

What days and time is happy hour?

Hi Cassie , Unfortunately we do not have Happy Hour . Hope this helps…

I want to eat here but also hear the guitar music is that possible? Where is the entertainment in contrast to the patrons?

Honestly the few times I ate there it was around noon lunch time and there was no entertainment. Maybe late night there is but you can call the restaurant and ask them . Beautiful view during the evening time

    Is this place kid friendly?

Absolutely! I wouldn't bring mine to the outdoor bar but inside, for sure!

Review: My partner & I were across the street at the shopping center & I wanted to hit up a bar since we don't know the area. I was the one who found this on Yelp, and he was like ...yeah, idk. I thought it'd be cool so we crossed the street & walked over. Okay, he literally fell in love with this place. A coworker recently asked him for a bar rec & he mentioned Cowboys and Poodles!! The concept is very cute (being a speakeasy) & when we came in we were greeted by Calvin who is hilarious & who makes excellent drinks. They had this very intriguing drink on the menu & he helped me decide. I would for sure come back & have it again + try the others. My partner noticed the very extravagant and peculiar decor here. The ceiling of the confession booth literally has cowboys ON poodles (!!!). He hypothesized it's all custom-made bc this is just too random. We loved it! My partner found himself counting down the seconds until these guys got out of the carriage, LOL. We swooped in immediately. It was sooooooooo cute! & strange! We pretended to be some kind of royalty in a different century. Whaaaaat a vibe. Saying again that Calvin is the best Even if this place wasn't so cool, his banter + his drinks would've still led to 5 stars. Come see for yourself!!

Oh So Jaded, a gin crafted drink with notes of kiwi and fresh cracked peppercorn. Ugh, so fresh and good. She Devil, such a great drink if you like Moscow Mules or ginger tasting drinks. It's a fun spot to grab a drink for the ambiance, but as a full meal, it leaves a lot to be desired. The food itself is okay--the quesa birria tacos have decent flavor and the carne asada comes with a nice char--but given the steep prices, you expect way better execution and more generous portions. Paying high-end money for pretty standard street food staples dressed up on nice plateware just feels overpriced. Service was fine enough, nothing to complain about, but the value just isn't there for what they're charging. On top of that, parking can be a bit challenging since it's tucked away in kind of a weird location.
