This is one of my favorite spots in the heart of downtown Lawrenceville to eat at. They have great customer service and good variety of food and drinks. They care about the regulars as well as newcomers. It is just important to know that if you are a regular, they know what you like to eat and drink. That matters. It shows that you matter. I loved my lunch here. Seriously 5 stars food and service. First, they have horchata which is a good sign and if you don't know what it is, my friend described her first taste as "tastes like Christmas". Yes, cinnamon sugar. And yes non-alcoholic. Oh, no free refills but that's normal. Second, the lunch combo is a pretty good deal. With chips and salsa for free (very tomato-y, maybe onion and cilantro would being even this to wow) we took our soup to go and it was great the next day. It had avocado even. Rice and bens sides were the only meh- didn't like the watery beans with few seasoning. Rice was fine. My friend got the beef taco and chicken enchilada and I got the chicken enchilada and chili relleno. Good portions. Good chicken and sauce. Not too much cheese. Okay, the real deal. My chili relleno is the better one I've had in a really long time. The cheese was correct - Asadero cheese I think? And the breading was not thick and spongy. I mean, soft chili relleno are classic and this one was yum! We also had great service. We were there for a late lunch at 1:30 and our server was quiet but all smiles, seemed happy with us coming in. She timed things well and accommodated our requests for to go bags and drinks. We didn't have to ask for to go silverware and it was nicely packaged. Maybe I was having a good day but I had a great time here. This was not at all a good experience. I don't like writing a bad reviews but this was very unacceptable! We arrived to my friend Birthday , she told me she called head for reservations and they sat us at the corner were the bar was , I asked if we could be moved since there were clearly people drinking and we had 5 kids , nop ! We had to keep calling our waiter to give us menues , drinks , food , napkins, everything we could think of not once did he approach the table to ask us for anything. Our food arrived at different times 40 min inbetween , it was a nightmare. Again asking for silverware. We keeper asking our waiter to clean up the table because we were full of dishes and we wanted to cut my friends cake but had to force him to kinda take the plates . ** note : to me he had more tables that he could handle **** The bartender was rude and unprofessional was giving us the wrong drinks . After recently moving here from Chicago and craving a burrito we thought we would try out this spot. Burrito was so greasy and no real filling to it that it was impossible to hold and completely fell apart. First disappointment. The second meal at the table was noticeably burnt. Took a very long time to receive the check after we were finished eating even though it was very slow in the restaurant. Decided to try this place even though the reviews weren't the best. The decor was nice no complaints there. Service was great, again no complaints there. There was a guy there who apparently played live music and the whole 1 hour I was there, instead of playing music he was talking with two customers at the bar. The restaurant had no other music playing just the noise of talking people. The Cheese dip was sooooooo watered down. That totally disappointed me. My husband ordered a chimichanga and I had the chicken and shrimp fajitas. Food was seasoned well and tasteful, only complaint there is that I had more onions and green peppers then chicken and shrimp combined.... but that's okay. I've been coming here for years, even when they had their old location at Hwy 120 and Lawrenceville-Suwanee road. It's great - the food is top notch , the drinks are great (couldn't even finish mine because it's strong and I'm driving). The chocolate chimichanga for dessert is to die for!!! But hey, all things must eventually come to an end. Tonight, we got here anticipating (and receiving) another great meal. BUT, there was something like a wedding reception going on at the historic courthouse across the street and probably a play at the Aurora Theatre so parking was very limited. No worries I thought, I'll just drop my wife off to get a table while I'd go and park in the lot next door like I've been doing for years. Oh wait, now they want to charge me to park? That makes the otherwise great value to be overridden by the parking charges! For what used to be free for years! I know the restaurant probably has no control over the parking, but they do control where they are located. Right across from the courthouse with plenty of free street parking. I had the chicken soup and a chicken taco. The portions are huge but the food is also very tasty!! The soup broth had a ton of flavor...lots of chicken, rice and fresh cilantro and limes. Love the avocado on top. The chicken taco was also great...lots of tasty cheese!! It was more like a mini burrito! The chips and salsa were good and the cheese dip with jalapenos were also tasty!! Service was great. There without being on top of you and friendly. The kids gorged themselves on chips and salsa, so they didn't finish their chicken tenders. It might have been a difficult task anyway seeing as though the tenders were very large in size. I though the tenders had a great taste and gave a great portion size for the money. Kids meals also come with a drink for added value. THE VERDICT The restaurant has exposed brick walls and colorful accent pieces that create an inviting and comfortable atmosphere (like your eating inside a Pottery Barn store). However, service left a little to be desired and the food could have used a little more flavor. I've been coming to La Cazuela for about 6 years now, since I taught at Central down the street and needed one of La Cazuelas SUPERIOR Millonaria margaritas every Friday after work . I'm not sure why this place has only 3 stars. It's a great place, here's why. Location is very cute, in down town Lawrenceville. Park across the street for free in the parking deck. There is outdoor seating with a nice view of the the square. La Cazuela is pretty much your basic Mexican restaurant, flavorful beans and rice, large burritos and enchilada, and top notch appetizers. My favorite thing to do is get a Millonaria (seriously, they're amazing) margarita on the rocks with their guacamole dip (freshly mixed) and queso fundido. Their salsa is a bit on the watery side for my taste, so I had to knock it down a star, but they balance it with having other great appetizers-they have some amazing ceviche and taquitos as well. Service has always been great here, and the prices reasonable. I'm starting to crave a Millionaria right now just reviewing it (did I mention they were AMAZING). T. ordered some gloppy plate with chili rellenos -- he's a sucker for that -- a burrito and an enchilada. The chili was over-battered and bland. The other two items, though different, were indistinguishable. T. rated lunch 2.3. out of 10. I made a last minute decision to go with the brunch buffet. There were enough items to be selective. My favorites were the Mexican chicken soup (which I jazzed up with extra cilantro), buffalo wings (not really Mexican, but a treat, since I never order them), and a made-to-order chorizo omelet. I would never drive out of my way to dine here, but it's okay for a pre-matinee lunch. (The restaurant is conveniently located across the street from the Aurora Theater.) Excellent food with wonderful customer service makes this place a definite winner! They always run weekly specials plus normally have a FABULOUS Sunday brunch. Came downtown Lawrenceville to support our local businesses, unfortunately my choice to have dinner at this establishment was not the best. The guacamole was sour, like spoiled sour. It was brown and hot. We ordered the chicken poblano and chicken taco salad. The poblano chicken was ok, a little over cooked and dry. The flavor was good. The taco salad was terrible, nothing on it looked fresh and the chicken was so salty I couldn't eat it. Hopefully they will improve their food as they have a wonderful location. read more

I gave 2 stars because the smell of the steak is divine and the many flavors of Jarritos sodas. Other than that, I decline everything else. The food was horrible. I had a sampler platter, don't quite remember the name. But I will have to pass to revisit this restaurant. The food was very lack luster, and it seemed as if it was missing many crucial ingredients(seasoning). We had a kids meal pepperoni pizza at our table and it looked uneatable. Maybe I'm just spoiled from eating real Mexican food and this place left me so disappointed. And not to mention the Flan, thru should be ashamed selling something like that. We ate here on a very cold evening when we happened to be in downtown Lawrenceville. The menu is fairly standard tex-mex, but the portions were substantial (we took home leftovers) and were satisfied with the food. The service was prompt. I wasn't going to waste my time writing a review because upon reading all the negative ones, it would appear that the owners have no interest or intention to improve. However, I decided to spare potential patrons from wasting their money. The place appeared fully staffed. They had two hosts, but apparently just one waiter. No one greeted us for 10 minutes. The manager was hanging out at the bar with bartender and several other staff members. When we flagged him down for help, he sent the only working person in the place. After our initial drinks, our glass remained empty until after I went to the bar and asked the bartender, who was playing on his phone, for refills. The food was unseasoned and expensive for the quality. I think the only reason they are managing to stay afloat is location. We won't be back. read more

My food and service was great! The waiter suggested a very tasty margarita made with apple schnapps and gold tequila. I ordered a fajita style skillet with skewers of steak and bacon. Of course the traditional sauteed onions and peppers accompanied it. The restaurant also offers the choice for you to add mushrooms and cheese :) I was a happy camper. It sits across from Gwinnett historic courthouse. The environment is very relaxed and touristy with a family scene of mature adults and seniors. There is patio seating for folks who prefer to eat outside on the nice and sunny days. The prices are pretty wallet friendly for authentic, dine-in cuisine. I was dining with a friend. To start, the salsa is the most watery salsa I have ever seen at a restaurant. I've had better salsa at del taco. The cheese dip is also bland. If it didn't have jalapeños, it would have no flavor at all. We had shrimp quesadillas and carnitas. Maybe we both ordered wrong. But they were both lacking flavor. All others reported that their meals were better than others we usually frequent. The service was friendly, but inattentive. Our section was about half full and dirty plates were on the table until we awkwardly traded our large platters for dessert. And, while I didn't mention it at the time, I saw a small roach on the wall behind where we were eating. If my family had seen that, I'm afraid the meal, my grandson's birthday celebration, might have been ruined. This place is located in downtown Lawrenceville, and even though it's set up like a regular downtown scene - there was PLENTY of parking. I sat at the bar and had SUPERB service from Marcella ( hope I spelled it right). She was very nice, informative, and FAST. She made sure I was well taken care of, and she made the drinks SO GOOD. Me and my boyfriend came here on our first date today. the service was horrible. our waiter checked on us once throughout our visit after we got our food which he didn't even bring us. our food was not brought to us hot. i just ordered some loaded nacho fries because i was unsure of what to order and i was missing half of the stuff that was supposed to be on it and was basically brought a plate with french fries, cheese and pork. we were not brought refills after being without something to drink for at least ten minutes. he came into the dining room at least four or five times and did not check on us. it was just ridiculous. read more

Take the low yelp reviews seriously and try another restaurant in Lawrenceville. I Will not be back. Although this is a clean restaurant with a nice atmosphere - The food was really disappointing. Chicken in the enchiladas, burritos and taquitos was dry. Chips and salsa were fine, but not crave-able. The guacamole tasted like the kind you get at Moe's fast food (more tomatoes than avocados and too citrusy).
