From the Espresso Martini that got my not-so-young self through the night, to the Carajillo--those were elite cocktails and I had low hopes honestly. Overall, the schnitzel plate was maybe a 2/10, and those points go solely to the fact that the chicken itself was technically edible. My boyfriend's meal somehow managed to be worse. The bratwurst was fine, but tasted frozen and reheated rather than fresh. The sauerkraut, according to him, "tasted like dirty socks." The spaetzle was genuinely offensive -- mushy, overly bland, and tossed with what looked like hydrated diced mushrooms that literally tasted like dirt. I honestly questioned whether it had gone bad. Beyond the food, the restaurant itself felt dirty and had a strange smell throughout. It honestly seems like a place locals may still visit out of habit or convenience, but it no longer reflects what I imagine it once was. It's unfortunate, because there's something special about a restaurant that's been around for 65 years and still tries to maintain its old-school charm. Sadly, the food and cleanliness just don't live up to that legacy anymore. Save your money unless you're only stopping in for an overpriced German draft beer. We definitely won't be back.

And still they had other people sitting at the bar and told her not to worry about the other people there! She's one women waiting for her friend while they had another group of at least 4 people sitting at the bar chillin' and worried about my friend waiting to make sure I got out of the restroom safe while they attempted to clear out the bar improperly! (This is becoming more common to be seated along with a $25 per person fee if I canceled less than 24hrs. I know restaurants are struggling but come on!) I watched as 'walk-ins' were given priority tables and when our party was complete, she was squeezing in a 3rd chair to a small cafe table right by the pass through door. No asking our preference. When she returned to seat us, I said "you're not putting us at that small table are you?" Her response - "yes...unless you want to sit inside." How was that not a conversation first? A professional would have said "I apologize, where would you prefer to sit? I see you made a reservation, are celebrating an event and we had some unexpected guests for seating options." Perhaps she was having a bad day, or was still reeling from a prior customer interaction but she was NOT up to the standards I equate with Manuela. Go for the food but don't think by making a reservation you get any special acknowledgement.

I also had the Sour Milk Cornbread which was magical and tasted like a cross between cornbread meets bundt cake. The flavor was perfect and was one of the best cornbread I have ever had. The pork chop was immaculate. I have yet to taste a pork chop that was so perfectly cooked from the moistness and the flavor. For dessert, the cobbler was ordered and goodness gracious it was absolutely amazing. If you come here, have all the courses, do not miss any course what so ever.

We've been here a few times now, and the service is always top notch. Huge shoutout to Cinthia, Domingo, Nelson, and Rollin for making every visit enjoyable. Cinthia took great care of us from start to finish, checking in often, bringing drinks, cleaning our table, and even bringing styrofoam plates for our micheladas so they would not spill. We had a small issue with one of our food items, and they fixed it immediately with no hesitation. Domingo was incredibly attentive throughout our visit. He kept checking on us, brought extra salsas, helped us get containers to take some home, and even noticed we were running low on napkins and brought more without us having to ask. Brownie points for that. It really shows how attentive the staff is. Nelson was the cook and was very friendly. He even came out to speak with us and packed our food to go just in case, which we really appreciated. Rollin has always been welcoming on every visit and always has great recommendations. The Chupa Nachos are amazing, but definitely big enough for three or more people. The micheladas are always my go to. I tried the Ballena this time, but honestly I still prefer the regular miche. Both miches comes with shrimp and cucumber on the rim. It is like a little snack with your drink. The atmosphere is always chill and welcoming. We have come to watch World Cup matches and Dodgers games, and they always seem to have the big games on. They also have a foosball table on the back patio and a TouchTunes jukebox, which adds to the vibe. I have also tried their tortas before, and both the asada and chicken were delicious. "Alright, alright, alright, people, gather round. Today, we're talking about Chuperia, the so-called 'hole in the wall' joint that's got everybody's tongues wagging. And let me tell you, the tacos? Eh, not so great. But the Micheladas? My goodness, those things could bring a smile to a dead man's face. Now, let's start with the tacos. I mean, I've had better from a gas station. And don't even get me started on the salsa, it's like they just poured some tomato sauce in a bowl and called it a day. But you know what? I ain't even mad, because when I took a sip of that Michelada, it was like a ray of sunshine broke through the clouds and shone down on me. I don't know what kind of magical elixir they're putting in those things, but damn, it's like my taste buds were doing the cha-cha slide. And the best part? They come in these big ol' iced mugs, so you can sip on 'em all day long and forget about your troubles. So, let me sum it up for y'all. La Chuperia may not have the best tacos in town, but they sure know how to make a Michelada that'll make you wanna slap your mama. So go on down there, grab yourself a cup, and enjoy the ride. This is by far the best kept secret on the outskirts of Los Angeles! Keep a lookout because you will probably drive right pass it. Family owned and amazing people welcome you with your choice of the most amazing Micheladas with huge jumbo shrimp cocktail adorning the rim! Plenty of ice cold craft beer selection always changing to the newest brew. Food- OMG amazing!!! The nachos plate is huge and very good! The tacos are 3 bite scrumptious and priced right! Came across this place in a search for a good michelada on a hungover Sunday. Saw that they opened at 12pm we pulled up to the sketchy ass parking at about 1220 and were greeted by 3 random as people and 10 dogs. We asked about the restaurant and were told they would open the door in like 10 minutes. We waited for the door to open until about 1240 and nothing. Another random guy came out the building next door and said this place is open as random times. We decided to leave and were then harassed by some crazy lady in the parking lot. Their options of food very limited, when I asked for a specific type of meat they ran out. Woke up with food poisoning the next day. Tables were dirty and sticky. Their was no toilet paper or soap in bathroom. Their music is ok it would be better if they didn't play the YouTube comercials. May I recomend If you want cheap drinks and more options on drinks or food the Mexican Village is the place to go. There is no YouTube comercials. read more

I went to last night! The place is very pleasant, deemed lights and the drink are small but so tasteful and well mixed that you will take them one zip at a time to enjoy its flavor. I came here with some friends recently and had an OK time. The tacos and beer are cheap, but it wasn't really my scene. New places adventures continues here at La Morenita…read more This small hole in the wall venue was certainly a surprise. Upon entry the place had a small wait, which is always a good sign. Seating extended into the back with patio / outside dining. Our wait time was about 10 min. We sat outside and fairly quickly were served some warm tortilla chips, salsa, cafe de olla, and some "Maria's" type mexican cookies (nice touch). At this point the place started to get busy so we arrive at a great time (10:20 am). Our order was taken and as we waited, we took in the homely feel of the place. Steak picado, rice, beans, and corn tortillas (hencho a mano) was the first plate. Red sauced chilaquiles, with cesina and eggs for the second plate, and a chicharron sope on the side to try. The food took a bit to come, but not to a point where it gets you upset. With that said, its definitely made to order. Everything was delicious and plentiful. The steak picado could have used a tad more salt. All in all it was like visiting abuelitas house for breakfast. I will have to return to try the menudo and something else. This was a great find and I approve this spot as a New Places Adventure Outing... On to the next!
