I hosted a girlfriend's birthday dinner at La Cigale last night. All I can say is that it is, undoubtably, the best restaurant in Delray Beach. Francois, Alain and Brian, our server, took excellent care of us with specialty appetizers and cocktails to start. Try the Aperol martini - a specialty that the bartender, Debbie, concocts. We had the grilled artichoke, foie gras, the escargot and mushrooms - all delicious. For main courses, the filet mignon was cooked to perfection and tender, frog legs delicious and delicate. Kind of old fashioned menu and VERY expensive for what you get. Very loud at happy hour. There were actually some "younger" people eating which is unusual for the area and time of year. We shared the calamari which was delicious, and had 2 entrees, one beer and 2 glasses of wine and the bill was over $130. They also automatically add 20% tip onto the bill which i guess they may need to do if patrons skip the gratuity. We won't be going back. read more

Great food worth every penny - great service however it lacks one thing atmosphere! When going to a restaurant sitting next to a table close by with loud mouthed people spoils the whole experience. They need to break up the room and make it less like a cafeteria. Sorry we keep hoping to see you have changed the room but until then we will go elsewhere. read more

Last night we went to la cigale for Beaujolais nouveau we haven't been there in sometime however Francis and Alan run an impeccable restaurantThe service is excellent everything we ordered from the appetizers to the entrée and dessert was exceptionally delicious the beef Borgeniogne seafood crapes and the muscles have no equal anywhere in Florida and we all had the escargot appetizer which consists of escargot and sautéed mushrooms in the most delicious cream sauce both unique and delectable. TheMusic and upscale crowd lend to the ambience. Even though we hadn't been there in a while Francis and Alan treated us as celebrities which they do with everybody who is wise enough to frequent this restaurant it is a total stand out in a sea of mediocrity read more

I eat out at least four nights a week all over the country due to my work and travel schedule. I have eaten here before and found it to be good. My second trip there was not good. It was the worst meal I have ever been served at a resturant. The owner lied to our faces when he told my party he'd correct the errors in the food. He merely took the food back to the kitchen to try to reheat and replate it to pass it off as freshly made. The big tip off was the fact that my previously rare tuna was a brown rubber consistency, my wife's Dover sole was to be deboned table side was served deboned from the kitchen because it was the fish she had sent back ten minutes prior and another member of our party had sent back his veal but it had a bite out of it. The owner was a liar and a rude jerk. I would as soon eat out of a trash dump than here. At least in a dump you know your eating trash. Eat here at your own peril. read more

The first time I ate here the food was " OK " , I remembered we had mussels which I thought were really nice and we ate some beef .... fast forward 1 year later and OMG , I tried the mussels again with the white wine sauce , a handful of thinly sliced garlic and I mean a lot ( if you like raw garlic , you're gonna love this dish ) the sauce was a joke . My husband ordered the Osso Bucco which was worst that horrible . Our waiter was a sweetheart and wait , they added 20% to our bill , we are not Europeans , we always tip 20 -25% . Upon reading the review and comments of Le Cigalle we decided to celebrate our 55th anniversary there a few days ago.Looking for ambiance for this special occasion we encountered upon entering the restaurant tremendous noise of people conversing,quite deafening.Upon being seated in a poorly lit table I could hardly read the menu.I could hardly hear the waiter telling us of their specials. The restaurant décor was like a cafeteria,so disappointing.The food quite pricey,but good.The food served buy different people and saw our waiter occasionally.Had to ask for more bread.Gratuity of 20% is added automatically but you are not informed of such unless you know.Then at the bottom it mentions additional gratuity'..So unfair and confusing to the patrons. The restaurant was crowded and I wonder why would the people come back based on what we experienced..We would not!! read more

Service was excellent but the food was not. I'd give it below par for the price. We ordered coq au vin, beef bourguignon. I am a gourmet cook of 40+ years. These dishes were not "freshly made" but were heated up from days prior. Very salty. Lacking real flavor. None of us finished our meal. read more

The worst dining experience of a lifetime! Used to love this place. Went in January 2014 for a lovely dining experience with my daughter and son-in-law. Dover sole was terrible. Seared tuna awful. Lamb chops not good. Given 2 waiters who worked in tandem but neither knew what the other had just done. Like a comedy routine. We asked for them not to rush us. The waiter said that's fine, but let me take your order now so we don't run out. He won't place the order with the chef till we say so. Okay. Then they brought the meal 10 minutes later. We said, No... They took it away. We said we wanted fresh. He returned 2 minutes later and said luckily another table was having the same things! In about 20 minutes we asked the waiter to place the order. Literally 2 minutes later the food came out. We knew it was the same food. We tasted and all agreed the food was cold and not good. They took it away. About 3 minutes later our meals were again brought to the table. IT WAS THE SAME EXACT FOOD. The lamb chop my husband had cut into was cut into. The dover sole had a few bites taken out of it! The seared tuna was now GREY! We asked to see the owner. He came. Sorry. No problem. He took it all away. Then the waiter came and said it was a wrap. So sorry. The owner? Oh, he'll see you at the front door. But he didn't. It was Saturday night, the restaurant was full and we had no dinner! I HAD TO WRITE THIS REVIEW -- it's my duty to report this to you. Needless to say we will never return to this old favorite again... read more
