A truly unexpected pleasure. My wife and ate there on june 30 and found it to be perfect. We were seated immediately, per our reservation. The food was delicious. We had a 4 course "chefs menu" which consisted of a choice between 2 appetizers. We had the pate. 2nd course was a choice between 3 dishes we had sautéed frog legs and the seafood crepe. Third was a cheese course, followed by choice of 2 desserts. And it came with a glass of wine. Service was impeccable. Food was presented promptly. An example. I dropped my fork on the floor. Before I could even look for our waiter he showed up and offered me another. They changed silverware after each course. I had a second glass of wine and we each had an espresso. Total bill with 22% tip was $100. Now granted, it was a summer special price, but the service was exemplary and we highly recommend it. read more

Decided to try this little spot out. Ordered 4 of the special Mojito's and honestly they all sucked in their own separate ways.. I also ordered a Skirt Steak. This piece of meat had to of been something nasty because the meal was like chewing on bubble gum. It took about 3 drinks and 40 min to finally get food served on a Tuesday night. I love this place. The menu is the most creative Mediterranian that I have experienced. One usually thinks Greek when you say Mediterranian, but they regularly feature different cuisines from all over that region. Italian, Greek, Spanish, even Moroccan. Their wine list is extensive and the daily $30 per person preset dinner is a full five courses. A huge bargain for this area!! read more

While this is convenient and has a nice ambiance the positives end there. We took a business client from out of town here and we were poorly handled from the start. Upon arrival front of house was very confused and when they finally seated us thought it might improve as waitress seemed nice but the food was just dismal for this price point. I had the tomato and mint soup - it tasted like mushed tomato with oil and mint. Then I had the pasta with chicken, sausage and escarole which looked thrown together, had a odd greasy sauce and the chicken was tasteless. Of the 4 of us no one had anything they'd order again nor would any of us recommend this restaurant. The final insult was the owner or manager who went to every table but ours greeting people - it was as if we were invisible. My business partner finally called him over and spoke to him in French about the experience - skip this place for a much nicer meal try Sundy House, Latitudes, or any of the many fine dining establishments in Delray! read more

I would call La Cigale a hidden gem. I booked a private room in their restaurant after doing a yelp search and then driving to Delray to meet with their manager. After planning a wedding with a little more than a month to spare, the owner and the staff at La Cigale were amazing and very accommodating. They had the larger of the two beautiful private rooms classically decorated, had our wedding cake beautifully set up with the cake topper, and had a lot of menu options to even suite my gluten-free and vegetarian friends. Everyone in my party was pleased with the quality and taste of their meal. If you are planning a small wedding, and need a reception venue with delicious food, great staff, and excellent ambiance, La Cigale is it. It is also about a 15 minute drive from the Morikami Japanese Gardens, the site of our wedding. read more

Nice, upscale restaurant with an unpretentious staff. The ambiance is intimate and very European. The unique menu offers a mix of French, Greek, Italian and Moroccan dishes. The wine list is fabulous. The Sea Bass I ordered was wonderful and seasoned with an aromatic blended black olive tepenade. The antipasto platter was full of surpeises too a nice home made hummus, artichokes and kalamata olives were my favorite choices. Overall staff is attentive and pleasant and prices are decent. A truly classy restaurant with outstanding food! The décor is well done, although not trendy. The demographics appear to be a little older and somewhat seasonal. It was immediately clear that some patrons are regulars and were greeted very warmly. Having been a couple of times for dinner, I have not been remotely disappointed as everything has been delicious. The strip steak with a green peppercorn sauce was remarkable and one I highly recommend. This place shows that it can pay to leave the main strip of restaurants in areas like Atlantic Ave and not even by a far distance to find a quality place! It's a little more expensive than a typical night out, so you might consider it as a celebratory spot. read more

It was expensive. But if I could give a 2.5, I would. First of all, the grilled artichoke with aioli was wonderful. But then the main course came, beef bourgenion or however u spell it. It was awful. La Cigale is so so so good with food allergies BUT listen, every year I go there and the manager usually cooks my meal just to make sure I'm safe. Food is always absolutely perfect and I love going there. Tonight I went, I decided to get a lemonade and I took a sip and my throat started to close up. Turns out there is milk in their lemonade. SO this is just a warning there is milk in the powder they use in their lemonade. I still plan on coming back and even though the lemonade almost killed me, it tasted really good. If you have food allergies just be careful when you're there and try to call ahead. Would've probably given this 5 stars except for me almost dying and also not having the rest of my meal. Our favorite restaurant in Delray Beach! The food is amazing! It is tough to choose which dishes we want each time. Definitely the pate'. Fresh fish is delicately prepared and the wonderful fried liver! Dessert is so good, you must save room. The management and staff are warm and welcoming. Wine list is great too. Overall we had a good dinner experience. The duck foie gras was a nice start to our meal. Served on a piece of brioche, it was seared and dressed with a cassis liquor reduction and berries. The osso buco was cooked so tender, falling off the bone. It was served with pappardelle pasta which was perfectly cooked. The coq au vin was also nice and tender, served with delicious roasted potatoes. The portions are large, a bit larger than typical French portions. To end we had the apple tarte tatin, and I must say it was not my favorite but I'm not a fan of apple desserts I general. My husband liked it a lot though. Prices are on the higher end compared to other restaurants in the area. Wine list was ok, cork fee only $25. Service was great. Definitely will be coming back to try more. read more

The last time we has visited La Cigale was when they were located on Atlantic Ave, right where the new Seagate Hotel now stands. We remember them as being pretty good then... they appear to be even better now. These are folks that know how to prepare interesting dishes.. their Branzino is a favorite, and the endive salad is one of the best anywhere. Amazing food and service!! The escargot was incredible (we asked to not have the puffed pastry in fear of being too full, but their house bread went well with it), we shared the Greek salad (fresh and tasty) which they split for us, the petite osso buco was not a petite at all and was fall off the bone and melt in your mouth good. Went for the first time yesterday with a few friends during happy hour and the food was delicious! We sampled a good portion of the tapas bar menu and each plate was full of flavor - Pate de Campagne, grilled beef kebabs, oysters Rockefeller, and the fried calamari with balsamic glaze. The frogs legs provenciale was also amazing! Bernie took great care of us and the Pouilly Fuisse he recommended was perfect! The service was on par when there is 130 of us. The food was okay. Had the seafood crepe. It was too salty and rich.

We have returned to La Cigale many times and have loved it every time. The sweet breads are spectacular! The service is flawless. Enjoy!

A TERRIBLE experience! We made the mistake of displaying a $75 coupon from restaurant.com, and were then treated as second class citizens. Although the owner/manager knew I was celebrating an important birthday,and that I spoke French, he never bothered to visit our table, even though he made the rounds of the room chatting with all the "regulars." The food was fair: the duck was tasteless, the paella was just OK, and they forgot one of the appetizers. The only really good things were the lamb chops and the chocolate cake. I am a Francophile and know really good French food. This was definitely NOT it! And the room is so noisy one could not hear the person immediately adjacent. The worst part of the experience was the bill. We were told that the tip would be included in the total, since some people forget to tip on the price before the coupon, which was fine. The PROBLEM? They charged us the tip in the total and then a SECOND TIME at the end of the bill. The two men spent almost 30 minutes trying to get it straightened out: the restaurant did not want to rip up the first charge and re-issue it. They finally did. Upon returning home, we called the credit card companies and found that both couples had been CHARGED for the dinner TWICE! Two days later, the second, duplicate charge was reversed, but the restaurant charged us a THIRD TIME for the price of the dinner without the tip. At no point did the owner/manager apologize for any of this. All in all, a miserable experience. First and LAST time dining here. Many much better places in Delray, for half the price with much friendlier atmosphere. . read more

Really?? I can not believe some of these positive reviews. The decor is nice, upscale. We went just as dinner was opening. Ordered stuffed eggplant...MUSH!!! Tasteless except for the too sweet tomato sauce. My nephew had the seafood paella. Average at best. Honestly, this place is WAY overrated and over priced. Two entrees, no beverages, a $25. certificate, and the bill, with tip was $48.00. Not bad, if the food was good, but this was a total disappointment. We left totally unsatisfied. Went to this amazing restaurant, last night. I knew all was starting well when the parking attendant greeted us respectfully, the host greated us so friendly and showed us our lovely table. As a restaurant owner in my younger days, I am very familiar with how food should be prepared and taste---I consider myself a expert on cioppino or as La Cigale has it on there menu "soupe de poisson" Fair warning, this was the worst I have had in my 79 years. It consisted of a weak broth and it was filled with cubed potatoes masquerading as pieces of white fish and about $3.00 worth of shellfish. And, mind you they have the audacity to charge $39.00 for this dish. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in the area. I have never been disappointed with the food. Every time I dine there I think it's the best meal I have ever had. I always order seafood when I go out and all their dishes are wonderful. Francis and the whole staff are warm and friendly. I always feel welcome and comfortable. I especially like to sit at the bar. We don't get the positive reviews. Had reservations, still waited 20 mins then we were forgotten. Finally seated at a table that hadn't been used that evening and we know why. Sat our wine glasses down and the table tipped. Instead of offering a different table the hostess asked us to wait while she got napkins to shore up the legs of the table. Food was not at all good. Smoked salmon app was bland and presentation was boring. French Onion soup could not have been house made as it tasted like Campbell's french onion soup was poured into a pot with sautéed onions then topped with cheese. No distinctive flavor. Seafood Paella was bland and not impressive as other reviews would have you believe. Overcooked mussels and just not worth it. Seafood Crepes were awful. I wished I had taken a picture. They looked more like fried burritos - they were fried. 2 came on the plate, dark brown from over cooking and the filling was dismal. Precooked baby shrimp in a cheese sauce. Awful and only ate half. Why didn't we say something? Like the hostess in the beginning our server forgot about us and even admitted so when we saw him fir the check. He actually said, "sorry. Got busy but you seemed to have fared well on your own." Really? I told my husband I don't even want to know what we paid for the awful food, service and outdated atmosphere. In a word, Disappointed. We live in the area and have driven by cigale many times. After we read the reviews we were looking forward to eating here. It as our anniversary. We got there around 830. Put it this way: after our experience, we now doubt the veracity of yelp reviews....who ARE these people, and what restaurant were they eating at? Some specifics: A mostly elderly crowd, which did empty out as the clock hit 8:30....Pleasant waitress, but why bring a flat glass of champagne? Of course they swapped it for bubblier bubbly, but at this supposed level of restaurant, you're supposed to catch these things. Artichoke heavily sauced, but ok. Tomato/mozzarella, ok. Scallops, good. Filet mignon, strangely without taste. Again, with these reviews and prices, one's expectations are heightened. We werent looking for passable and ok...we were looking for very good. It simply wasnt. The room was ok, but the lights were on the bright side for an intimate french restaurant. My hunch is that their regular clientele prefers the brightness. Electric votive candles were sort of an odd table touch. Oh,well...we really were looking forward to cigale and surprised at how mediocre it was. Just an assortment of little odd things....even the maitre d' was dressed just wrong for an upscale friday evening kind of place. I get no pleasure writing this sort of review...these folks work hard...we discussed it before we decided to post it..... hopefully someone at the restaurant will read this and awaken. But when you spend 150 or so for dinner...in delray beach...you have a lot of other choices. read more
