We have been to the French gazebo about a dozen times and always look forward to it. Three weeks in advance of my wife's birthday in July I made a reservation to celebrate my wife's birthday. When we arrived there was a sign on the door stating "to our valued customers " the restaurant was closed indefinitely due to a plumbing problem. That sign looked like it had been there a while. I tried calling several times over the next few weeks and there was no answer or answering machine to leave a message. So much for being a "valued customer". You would've thought somebody could have gone through the reservation list with customers contact information and called to cancel. We are not sure that they are open yet . Such a shame.. read more

The French gazebo has added a pasta menu. I tried the pasta pillows and it was exceptional. Another member of our party had liver and onions and gave it a two thumbs up. Our group was four and everyone enjoyed their entrées very much. We have been here multiple times and always had good service and good food. We really enjoy the outdoor dining, but it was a little chilly this evening to partake. I would highly recommend the French gazebo. read more

Amazing French restaurant with superb service and ambiance! Everyone is super friendly and attentive. From the minute you pull into the parking lot which is entirely valet to entering the restaurant and being greeted by all the staff at the door, you feel welcomed. We got a very nice booth in the corner with lots of natural light and good for people watching. They have an extensive wine list and great options for cold and hot appetizers. Try the Fonseca 10 Year Port if you like sweet wines! There's the traditional French dishes as well as some pasta entrees. We started with a goose liver pate which came with a citrusy arugula side salad. My mom and I shared the apps and for convenience, they split the dishes in the kitchen before bringing it out. Next we had some escargot. They came beautifully with the shells and lots of garlic butter to dip your bread into. I had the Duck L'Orange for dinner and it was a gigantic portion. The rice pilaf was well seasoned. The dollop of sweet potato was tasty. My mom had the Dover sole. It was not as crispy as I expected and the flavor was a little light but the almond lemon butter sauce it came with was very good. The mashed potatoes was also delightful. We ended with a grand marnier soufflé which you have to order when you sit down cause it takes a while for the kitchen to make. Will definitely come back for more! read more

Most disappointing Christmas dinner! They made no effort to make it special. Veal chop, dessert souffle, creme brule were all off the menu. There were no special Christmas treats. Our 4-hour dinner wasn't because of an elegant meal, rather it was due to the absolutely terrible service. I felt like servers were intentionally dodging our table. We were left thirsty with our water glasses unfilled for unacceptable periods of time. When our main dishes came, they didn't all come out together, the staff didn't know where they went, and they weren't all at the right temperature. The duck was hot and delicious. The dover sole was well made. The shrimp scampi with spaghetti was so good, my friend said he considered ordering another for dessert. The scallops were salty and the string beans cold. The lamb chops weren't warm. The salads were small and nothing special. For me, the meal highlights were the tiny, but cold carrot souffle that came with the mains and the coconut cream pie. At least the noise level in the restaurant was comfortable and the decor pleasant. I actually complained about the service and that resulted in a start at clearing the table before dessert, but still no water and no attempt at better service! At more than $100 per person (it could have been a lot more if everyone had ordered wine or had the opportunity to see the wine list) this place just isn't worth our time. Lets start with the FOOD. It was exceedingly tasty and prepared to perfection. This included Caesar Salads, and the equivalent of a house salad, cannot recall the name. Tasty, dressings excellent, and portion size respectable. I ordered a shrimp cocktail, I asked in advance the number of shrimp and size. Was advised three (3) very large shrimp and a home made sauce. The sauce was excellent, the shrimp were large but not as large as I have had at several local restaurants who serve the same plate. Also, it was served in a metal cup, and unless you were going to eat them with your hands (now, now, this is supposed to be elegant dining), they should have served a side plate. I used my bread plate, because we lost our waiter/food runner after these dishes were brought to the table. Oh, and the bread, two types, served warm as it was clearly freshly baked, would kill anyone's diet. Served with a creamy whipped butter, I ate too many pieces and "je ne regrette rien" Entrees included a broiled salmon and poached salmon, nicely prepared and a healthy portion, especially for the high pricing. My sister had calf/s liver, and she enjoyed it, but it didn't seem like she loved it, and she knows what calf's liver should look and taste like. I had the broiled scallops, 4 medium sized ones, in a white wine sauce. They were delicious, and again, for the price, the plate could have been comfortable with 6. Note on the sides: Tasteful, but sized for an infant. Two thin pieces of asparagus, a dollop of mashed potatoes. Please, you don't have to load the plate down with sides, but really, that small amount should be embarrassing to both the chef and owners. Martinis were well prepared and nice sized martini glass. Stuffed olives requested on the side, and they were in the glass. A lapse in communication between the waiter and bartender. We skipped desserts for two reasons: too expensive and an issue which is the basis of this 4 rather than 5 star review. We all planned on having the prix fixe menu at $55, which included a selection from their entrees, salads, and appetizers, and a dessert. There were numerous appetizers, entrees and appetizers with up charges, so $55 could easily have become $80. Must order between 4:30-5:30. Note, restaurant does not open until 5, and reservations are not booked before 5, so that inconsistency needs explanation or correction. We were all present at 5, handed menus, but not the prix fixe menu. We ordered our martinis, talked a bit, and finally got the attention of our waiter and asked for prix fixe menu. He brought one for a table of 4. We said we are ready to order, and as soon as my sister gave her order, he replied, Prix fix only served until 5:30. NOTE, it was 5:37! G I V E M E A B R E A K. I replied, then why didn't you say anything when you brought our martinis, and his response was "I did not want to interrupt your cocktails" or some other lame response. Frankly, we are not pinching our pennies and have more than social security for income, but that was a bit mischievous of the waiter, or just dumb. The service was outstanding, in fairness to all the staff, but there were only a handful or less of tables occupied. Note, the wine list requires an extra credit card, and is excessively priced. Decor not to my liking, but one cannot account for taste. Another reviewer said it needs a refresh. Note, this is their new decor. I did not find it romantic or intimate, lighting too bright. Then valet was outstanding, kept on calling me sir, and he earned my $20 tip. read more

What people say about the food - is true - if you stick to the predominantly French dishes it's FANTASTIC. The lobster bisque was out of this world and I got the chicken Stefano and it was fancy comfort food at its finest (Gruyère stuffed chicken - aka: cheesy chicken). The sauce and the mushrooms with it were fantastic. I've also never had a better Caesar salad in my life. I ate a whole anchovy and LOVED it. That being said, the service was terrible. Sat forever with water and bread but no menus and no cocktails. Had to flag down our waitress for every, goddamn, thing. I had to wonder if she didn't know we were in her section. We never got her name, an intro to the menu and specials, nothing. Maybe they're better to regulars? The food was so good I'm still glad we went but never go here without a LOT of time to spare. My husband and I had a reservation last week to celebrate both his birthday and our wedding anniversary. For such special occasions there was only one plane to dine. I made my reservation a month in advance and even received a confirmation e-mail the day before. The evening of our reservation, all dressed up and excited for our special dinner we arrive to find the parking lot empty. The sign on the front door stated the restaurant was closed due to a plumbing issue for an undetermined amount of time. Needless to say we were stunned and very disappointed. A text or email to everyone who had reservations that night would have been the professional thing to do. Nothing but a machine could rate the food, service, or Miami Vice decor at Gazebo more than a big fat zero. French Gazebo exists only to take your money. Fine Dining. Expensive, the wine list prices gave me a heart palpitations but we ended up with a fine Sauvignon blanc at a reasonable price to complement the beet with goat cheese salad, country pate, Duck Le Orange and Dover sole. Against all credibility we share a crème brûlée for dessert. Service was exceptional, sommelier very attentive and helpful, waiters attended at appropriate times. We picked dishes which are the standards we assess any first time for French cuisine and it did not disappoint. One small criticism is that the duck does not require as much rice pilaf as served; over did the plate. Tonight was our first night here and it was great! The food was absolutely fabulous. From the escargot and crab, and artichoke to the rack of lamb and crab and shrimp stuffed Branzino. We did not see our server very much, but thank goodness they work as a team and everybody helped out and I want to give a special thank you to Martini. He is the absolute best! We made our reservation via Open Table, and included remarks for the waitstaff. When we arrived, we were greeted with a response to our request for a table in the quietest part of the restaurant. Their concern for our comfort was certainly appreciated. The food was outstanding - I had the Duck L'Orange and my husband had the pasta primavera. The team of waitstaff was quite attentive and their service was excellence. The room was brightly lit and the music played quietly in the background. My new favorite place to eat and sincerely one of the most under talked about restaurants in the palm beaches. In the opinion of my wife and myself, The French Gazebo continues to distinguish itself as the premier French restaurant in the greater Boca Raton area. We have been many times, last night being our most recent visit, and have never been disappointed. From the moment we were seated until the time we left, we were made to feel welcome; and, never rushed. The ambiance is wonderful, the service is impeccable, and the food is delicious. I haven't been here for a very long time since the new ownership I must say the decor is very nice not like the old feeling of old Paris. It's a French restaurant. The new feeling is more modern but very nice. You were able to talk in this restaurant they are now doing their summer specials which makes it easiest for most of us to go. I went tonight and had a delicious vegetable plate because I like vegetable plates. Also had a very good Caesar salad, which we were able to split for two We also had the chicken. Stefand also duck very good scallops. Also excellent everything comes with potatoes or rice and a vegetable service was excellent. They gave a birthday complementary dessert which I find very nice for them to do that. It makes you feel really special. And you wanna come back and celebrate more special occasions !!for the summer if you get there Monday through Friday before 6:30! you get a three-course dinner for $55 no problem with parking in this location. read more

We have eaten here before and though it has always been pricey the service and the food always been terrific. Last night the service was great. However the main dishes were not up to standard. Guests of ours ordered the liver and they felt that another French Restaurant in Boca has liver that is more tender. I ordered the Duck and it was overcooked and dry. My partner ordered a pasta dish which was perfect. So in essence if this restaurant is now a hit and miss, it is not worth taking the chance. ALSO my drink was $25. Outrageous!! read more

I normally never compose a negative review for elements outside of food, decor and service. However, I called to make reservation for my father-in-law's 94th birthday. I confirmed they would be open 5/26 which was Memorial Day. The owner indicated they were and noted that it was for a birthday celebration, so I assumed we would be golden. First time visiting. As expected, it was a full house and there was a bit of a wait, even with a reservation. Servers were top notch and knowledgeable about the menu. Second review, approximately 2 days later, called the restaurant to complain that I had bones in my fish. I was told by the female manager she would call me back. She never called so I then called. I asked are you going to provide any compensation? They said no don't come back. On a Saturday night it was pretty slow. We came here since we live so close and wanted to check it out. The crowd is alot older but not a problem, the staff is young. The food was really tasty just extremely over priced. It was almost too expensive to be that type of restaurant. The decor is a bit out dated and some of the furniture needs replacing but the overall ambiance was really nice. I would go back but probably to pick up takeout. I had an amazing dinning experience at the French Gazebo. Starting with the remarkable service! The staff at the French Gazebo went above and beyond in creating an elevated dining experience from the valet attendant to the entire restaurant staff. The restaurant was also beautifully decorated with stunning chandeliers creating a very elegant date night. We ordered a few items on the menu that the waiter recommended and we were blown away with everything. I'm still thinking about the lobster ravioli, it was delicious! (Not sure why some reviewers complained about the decor.....I think it's beautifully traditional. It's not supposed to be modern for this type of restaurant.) We were loyal customers for the last 15 years ago, at least 6 times yearly. Unfortunately our last visit will be our last. Over the years, we got to know the servers who worked there like friends because they were always there. So a year later and back for another Christmas Eve dinner. I wish I could write that this night was as good as last year but it wasn't. The owners and staff are still very nice and accommodating. However it was very busy and you had to ask for water refills and were never asked if anyone wanted an additional drink. Three in our party had the dover sole and each meal was luke warm. I had the veal marsala and had to ask the waitress to warm it up. The veal itself had more grit than you expect from such an upscale restaurant. The highlight of our meals were the deserts. Going out on a night like Christmas Eve is always a bit of a risk but for $250 per couple I expect better. All this being said we still had a very enjoyable evening. Manager was rude. Waiter was even router. We ordered food. An hour later they came out to tell us they had run out. When asked what happened they said a chef got sick. That is unacceptable. Four of us arrived at the restaurant without a reservation. They kindly seated us in the side room which was fully occupied. My wife & I were guests of the other couple so we restricted our dinner order to conform to their omission of appetizers. We all ordered drinks. After an hour without dinner being served we began inquiring as to the status. We were told the food would be served shortly. At that time the room we were in was completely empty of all patrons but us as they had long ago finished and paid for dinner. A woman who appeared to be a hostess began lowering the lights. The wife of the hosting couple requested the lights not be dimmed. The woman appearing to be the hostess immediately took exception. When our friend stated she likes light to see her dinner. The immature, out of her element hostess began yelling that our friend was a "low life and an animal!" I became angry and demanded an apology. The hostess than called me an animal. I told her to bring the check for the drinks and that we would leave. She started screaming that the entire check was to be paid or she would call the police. I insisted she do so. At that the waiter suddenly appeared and said,"you only ordered a main course, what did you expect?" Then he informed us the dinner was coming to the table at that point we were in the restaurant for one hour and forty minutes. When I told the waiter we were leaving and would only pay for the drinks he attempted to physically threaten me. I reacted accordingly. Sudddenly a manager wearing a red coat appeared separating the parties. Again I said we were leaving and we walked out having never received a bill for the drinks. My wife had been to the restaurant so many times as Kathy's as a couple and with parties of 6 that it would be hard to count. Now other friends are repeating bad experiences as to the new ownership. They have lost us, our friends who we shall relate the sorry events to and many others by having employees unsuited for such an establishment. read more

The newly renovated French Gazebo opened this past Friday and we were fortunate to have had a reservation for this past Saturday evening. We arrived on time and were immediately seated in a perfect location in the center of their new and very brightly decorated dining room. The service and attention was excellent as was the wonderful menu featuring some of best traditional French cuisine and of course their specials of the evening We brought our own wine however with their $50 corkage fee we elected to select something from their limited list and found a wonderful Bordeaux. Two of us ordered the duck ala orange and the other had the fish special and one loved his liver and onions. The portions are quite generous and the value was there for all of the selections. I had the pleasure to have met the new owner; Yvette ( a lovely lady) and we discussed creating a complementary corkage fee on Mondays year-round. Her last word to me was "DONE". So if she is reading this review the newe French Gazebo (formally Kathy's Gazebo) is going to be a regular on our fine dining list. Try it! You won't be disappointed.
