Came recommended and walked in here with co-workers one day. Customer service could be better. Once you get your food they forget about you. Steak Picado Burrito: no flavor! I was shocked. They used no seasoning what so ever. Plain taste and mostly rice in there. Awful choice. Caldo De Pescado: this soup was good. Definitely better. It had great flavor. I loved the hand made thick tortillas that comes with the it. Great choice. Pupusas Revueltas: these were good as well. Comes with the cabbage and sauce. Great choice. This place was cash only. They didn't have an ATM but the donut shop next door has an ATM. Great prices. Pupusas were made fresh. I also had a shrimp cocktail but forgot to take a photo. I would definitely come back for the pupusas. read more

I love La Cocinita! This restaurant is family owned and gives me a very comforting vibe. You can see the two lovely women cooking in the kitchen and everyone is kind. Their food is so delicious and very affordable! Plates around $10 or so. I always get the fried fish plate with rice and beans. I also get the pescado soup, it's so delicious. 10/10 read more

Went to this place because of their reviews, their service was absolutely horrible. They do not charge you the same price that they charge you from the menu and over charge and their food was not great. The pupusa's did not have enough stuffing in it they were very flavorless. read more

Friendly, family run place. Plenty of appealing options, but I went for the Carne Asada plate. The steak was cooked to order, which meant it was juicy. Everything on the plate showed care. I liked the rice, the beans, and the freshly made salad. The real showstopper were the tortillas which were amazing. Thick, like a flavorful corn cake, and so hot off the grill I couldn't pick them up for a minute. SO much better than the typical factory-made thin, blah, tortilla, that always cracks in half as soon as you put anything juicy in it. Price was very reasonable for such high-quality food. This right here is the closest thing you can get to your moms home cooked soup. And their Platanos Fritos omg the best. Just had a bowl of soup for dinner and platanos for dessert. During these summer days hitting 100*, there's no way I want to cook! But I sure want to eat. So the first place that came to mind was La Cocinita (in Pacoima on Van Nuys) Their menu has a variety of Mexican dishes. Which I've tried. Like: flautas (taquitos), Birria, carne azada, camarones (a la diabla, al mojo de ajo , a la plancha, and cocktail) and so much more. I'm picky with my food so when I ask for my dish to add or not have certain spices, I expect it to be done and this place has the best cooks!! The prices are decent. What is best is that they deliver!! They only have 2 guys delivering so it may take a bit. I always as for Hugo, he is always polite and honest. And HE won't get my orders mixed-up. The downside is that they close at 4:00 pm. Hopefully at some point they may close a little later. You can't go wrong with La Cocinita! Great food, decent prices, and delivery!!! read more

This restaurant is in a small strip mall location. The inside is very simple, clean and homey. These were some of the best pupusas I've ever eaten. They were made fresh while we waited and served with ample cabbage and red sauce. The pupusas were a la carte, and i ordered rice and beans on the side. The beans were a little bland, but ok and the rice was perfectly fluffy. Overall, the food was made with care and i would try it again if i were in the area but i would probably not go out of my way to dine here again. read more

Perhaps I am biased as my parents used to come to "La Cocinita" since the late 80s on dates. I've been eating their pupusas since the early 90s and the owner is a true sweetheart. I've had pupusas everywhere in LA and I still consider their pupusas to be on my top 5. I am half Salvadoran so I have a pretty good knowledge of this antojito Salvadoreño. Plus, they are so affordable and customer service is always wonderful. I suggest you order by phone & pick-up as they tend to get busy and they are minimally staffed. Of course, this is solely my personal opinion, I know online it says they sell Mexican food, but their best food is their pupusas + yuca frita! Yum Yum! read more

Was craving Latin soup sooooo bad, so I decided to give this place a try l, since it's pretty close to me. I was able to walk right over. I saw the sopa de camaron y pescado (shrimp and seafood soup) and I HAD to have it. Lemme tell you, it did not disappoint!!! I couldn't shove it into my face FAST enough! My new favorite Mexican. This place is so FRESH, affordable and delicious, I had it last week and I'm still dreaming of it. I got fried fish, grilled tomatoes, rice, salad. To say I loved it was an understatement. Then I wanted to try a taco so I got a chicken taco. Mouth explosion. First time in LA. I googled a good Mexican restaurant when I left the airport. I ordered the pupisos (mixed) and a chicken and grilled steak taco. It is a small place packed with a lot of flavor.
