TRIDENT COFFEE @ PACIFIC BEACH Parking is available through street parking only, as there isn't a dedicated parking lot for this café. I'd recommend looking for parking in the nearby neighborhoods or along the streets in Pacific Beach. It can definitely be a little difficult to find a spot, especially during busy times, but the nice part is that it's free. I wanted to try this coffee shop because I was looking for a new café in Pacific Beach before heading to the beach with my friends, and it completely exceeded my expectations. I absolutely loved how spacious it was. A lot of coffee shops in busy beach areas tend to feel small and crowded, but this place had plenty of room to sit and relax. They have a huge selection of donuts, pastries, bakery items, and coffee drinks, so there are lots of options no matter what you're craving. There are also plenty of tables and a good amount of outlets, making it a nice place to get some work done or stay for a while. The only downside was that when I arrived, most of the seating was already taken. The only open seat was this cozy little hanging chair tucked away in the corner, but it happened to be right next to the bathroom. It was comfortable, although not necessarily the ideal location. Other than that, I really loved the atmosphere. The café has a bright, vibrant feel with large floor-to-ceiling windows all around, which let in a ton of natural light. Located very close to the beach. Mostly paid parking (10am-10pm everyday) but some two hour free nearby. Interior is very small. Had a bar style seating and a few tables. They have merch in the middle of the shop. We had one person in front of us order one drink. They received theirs within 5 minutes of ordering. Our two cold brew drinks took 15 minutes. I could understand if they were pulling shots for lattes but they have the cold brew on draft and once the employee starting making the drink it took her only a few minutes. Not sure if they have a staffing problem. There was only one staff making and taking orders. One staff walked to the back when I came in and I never saw them again. An awesome coffee shop, less than a block from the beach! This is one of my go to spots. The coffee is great, and all of the baristas are even better. They know me by name and my go to order! It has super high ceilings and windows from floor to ceiling. It has plenty of outlets and is my favorite place to work remotely from. After grabbing ice cream just up the street I thought I'd stroll over & check this place out. I was blown away by all the cold brew and nitro cold brew options. They had a try least four cold brews on tap! Yes, on tap! This place takes their cold brew seriously. I'm pretty simple when it comes to my cold brew and I'm not super picky either. My husband roasts his own beans & makes a killer cold brew, so I knew I wanted to try some black and nothing extra added. As soon as I saw the Ethiopian Yergacheffe on tap I knew that would be it. After a sample sip, my decision was made. The super kind woman behind the counter was friendly and we even joked a bit while she got my coffee. She made sure to wave & offer a smiling "goodbye" when I headed out. The ambiance is simple, super casual, limited indoor seating and pretty chill. I walked to this coffee shop on my vacation and everything I got was really great! However, I sat there for 33 minutes waiting for my breakfast burrito. (ordered at 9:35 and left at 10:11 after i got my food) and my order was not my name (it said Rosaline) Although, there was only one worker someone came in 20/25 minutes after me ordered a burrito and got it before me as I was just sitting there waiting! I got the Mexican Mocha cold brew and it was smooth and flavorful. My only complaint is that the coffee is a little lack luster, not strong enough for me or even my partner who is usually sensitive to coffee. I first tried the imperial beach location when I met up with a friend for a bike ride but hit the PB location way more often out of convenience. Coffee was quite good, as was the service. They had some unique flavor options, like my black salted Carmel mocha. It is a bit pricey, which is to be expected from a coffee shop in PB that is close to the beach, but it does lose a star to be because of the value and lack of a 20 oz option. Trident coffee is very cool. The ambience is fun and sea themed which makes it great for the influencer photo, however I was impressed with the menu. They offer signature Mexican and Vietnamese coffees along with mushroom, turmeric and charcoal options as well. I really enjoyed chatting with Sam number 7 as I saw him two days in a row and he had a great, casual, real person interaction that you don't get much anymore. Nice is good, kind is better. We ordered the New Orleans Cold Foam (nice nutty taste that isn't too sweet), Trident Cold Brew (very watery), and a beef/cheese/egg empanada (hearty). We were able to sample some of the cold brews which made it easier to find one we wanted to order thanks to the kind cashier. Cafe was clean, spacious, and quiet. Good place to study. We came on a Saturday during PB fest so it was fairly busy and a decently long line. There was only one guy working and he was really hustling. He was still friendly and good service which was fairly fast but I would say they need to get at least two people working on a Saturday. I got a honey lavender cold brew latte and it was delicious. This is one of the newer locations and is the 3rd location in San Diego - the other two are located in Coronado and Imperial Beach. This one is conveniently located a block from the Pacific Beach, perfect for a date or hangout to grab a coffee and walk along the beach and boardwalk. I got the Mexican Mocha which was not too sweet but did not taste watered down since there are evident notes of chocolate, cinnamon, and nutmeg in it. I got the 16oz which was about $7.09 which seems pricey but the quality is very high and there's no ice at all. Good value to have pure liquid filled to the top, but since it's hot, temperatures equalize quickly with the surroundings but that's something beyond the barista's control. I really enjoyed the coffee overall. If I come back, I definitely want to try their nitro cold brew flight for a nice variety. We were just in a rush so we decided to just get a regular drink, as the flight is most ideal if you dine in. read more
