First I never got my drink until we were ready to leave and had finished our food. And it wasn't even my drink they offered me. The fish taco was great but the fillet taco had a raw tortilla and so much sauce you couldn't taste the meat. Literally. Being local we asked if we could tell them that we still hadn't received my margarita and about the rare tortilla taco and the chick who came up (she was wearing glasses) offered me someone else's drink and then gave me attitude when my husband said hey we just want to help you out since you're still figuring things out. Heard about this place opening up next to Tanner's Prime and had to try it. It was ~95°F outside and it was nice to see they did have air-conditioning, even though it was still quite warm inside. Note: ordering is done at the counter. They do have menus to look at but you might want to sit down and review the menu instead of holding up the line at the register. This format is similar to Tanner's, so expect lines out the door to be common. We ordered: La Corriente Ceviche (Bowl) - $18.90 This was fresh & excellent ceviche but the size was small. Could split between 2 people max. Ensenada Fried Shrimp Taco - $5.90 Wow, this was soooo good! Worth the six bucks. Ahi Tuna Tostada - $6.90 The tuna tasted "off", sorry. I could not finish it! Didn't taste right, and I love tuna poke always. Octopus Taco - $7.50 Wasn't mine, but I heard it was rubbery. Mom didn't like it. Also got a Modelo for $7.50 and a fountain drink. Apparently they will be getting a happy hour, though I did not see a happy hour menu. I think they only had two beers on tap (Stone IPA and something else). Wish they had more options! They do have margs and martinis on the back of the menu, though the options seem limited. So our experience was mixed. The ceviche was fresh and the shrimp taco was amazing. The tuna tostada however did not taste right and I love ahi tuna, so I was a bit puzzled. Would like to try some other things. At $20, the two rib eye tacos seems like a splurge? Your mileage may vary. Staff was nice enough and the place looks amazing. Parking could be better. Will come back once we see what the happy hour options look like. read more

Yesssss! My favorite restaurant in TJ opened an outpost in Oside. The ahi tuna tostada is just as good as I remembered it, and pairs perfectly with a side of salsa macha. Definitely worth a trip if you don't want to go further south. Others in my group enjoyed all the other items ordered, but I don't know if I can stop eating the ahi tuna tostada to make room for other stuff. Order and pay at the counter, grab a number for your table. Self serve water. They took over the old HomeState location, next to Tanners and PopUp bagels. Decor is gorgeous. Tables inside and out. It wasn't too busy yet on a weekend lunch, but they quietly opened a week ago and word is starting to get out. Parking is always atrocious in that tiny lot with popular businesses, but there should be street parking within a couple blocks, especially if you try south of Vista Way. read more

La Corriente is finally opened in South Oceanside and I was able to experience some of what they have to offer. La Corriente is a Mexican Seafood Restaurant that is popular and already established in La Jolla, Coronado and Mexico. They offer a wide variety of seafood options, which include various fish, shrimp, and octopus. They also have a nice selection of drinks and a full bar available. I appreciate that they have outside seating and indoor as well. There was a lot of thought that went into the interior decoration that made you feel like you were in a Cantina in Mexico, and even the bathrooms were extremely comfortable. Service was impeccable and very attentive. I can appreciate the patience they had with my inquiries, and I also love that they have varying fish to offer. I did recommend that they offer a market fish fresh caught from the Oceanside harbor to support local fisherman. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience, and I have no complaints other than the lack of parking nearby; but that is not the business's fault. If you like seafood, then I recommend you check out La Corriente in Oceanside. read more

I'm sure my rating will improve with my next visit. They have some kinks to work out, being they have only been open for a few days. The fish tacos were tasty. The ceviche and guacamole were fresh and delicious. The margaritas were just ok at best. Didn't taste that great to be honest and more ice than liquid. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I will say that with a line out the door, I wouldn't think this would be the best time for the person taking orders to also be the one to prepare our margaritas. I was eager to visit La Corriente, yet the overall experience left me quite disappointed. The space is attractive and offers a pleasant atmosphere. I ordered two micheladas--one listed with clams and the other with shrimp--but they arrived as ordinary drinks. The server quickly corrected this minor issue. We chose a ceviche bowl, a tostada, and a taco de pulpo to sample a range of items. When the dishes arrived, I was surprised by the small portions; everything was served on paper plates, and the food lacked flavor. The most frustrating aspect of the high cost is the sense of being shortchanged by such tiny servings. read more

This restaurant is really lovely. It's got a great atmosphere. Plenty of outdoor seating and lots of indoor seating as well as bar seating. It's fast casual, which is nice. We ordered the beef fillet tacos which were fantastic. The shrimp tacos, which were also really really good. The drinks were not strong enough for my liking. But decent. And the beef ribeye tacos while cooked well didn't have a ton of flavor. We also had tuna tostadas which we're good, but not great. Service was kind of inconsistent but they just opened so I can only see them getting better. read more

Tacos weren't bad but not great. Tostada was a miserable, very hard chip with thin slices of ahi laying flat under a mound of soggy cucumber noodles. Bloody Mary was extremely weak. Whenever people complain about drinks being light on alcohol I always think maybe they're just a lush but I can assure you, the drink was virgin adjacent. Chips came in a sealed plastic bag. They are thick round corn chips. Very, very bad. The woman that took our order and made our drink was absolutely without any friendly helpfulness. I was very eager to try this place Mexican seafood dishes are my favorite. I walked in and the bartender/hostess did not even acknowledge me even though I was 2-3 feet away from her. Finally I spoke up and said "Hi" she said "oh you're ready?" I said yes. I had a simple 2 dish order, I said let me get 1 fish taco and I asked her "do you have shrimp ceviche tostadas?" She answered "yes" so I said cool I will have 1 please. I paid and sat down, food came out fast. The place was pretty much empty so that was good. Some dude dropped it off. I ate the fish taco it was good/ok BUT nothing special the only salsa they had were bottled salsas no biggie. Then I focused on the ceviche and noticed it was a fish ceviche so naturally I thought oh they made a mistake. I tracked down the dude that dropped off my food and told him hey bro I got the wrong ceviche I ordered shrimp this is fish. He looks me straight in the eye and said we dont have shrimp ceviche. I said the lady who took my order said you did, he said the only one we have is the "La Corriente ceviche" and that has shrimp,octopus,fish and he walked away from me, lol. Since I was at my lunch time I did not want to go back and forth w/ him because I needed to go back to work. So I just let it slide ate the daaam thing and I left to work it was good/ok but again nothing special. When I got back to my office I went on the website and saw the menu and it shows a shrimp ceviche with only shrimp, go figure‍. I would recommend Mariscos El Pacifico in Vista for the shrimp ceviche and Shoots Fish and Beer in Oceanside for the shrimp tacos and beer. read more

Hopefully service better with time but in all fairness they just opened a little over a week ago. Ordering process is super super slow . Only one register and the girl behind the register also seems to be running drink orders to tables too.. as it the one bartender. We had 4 couples in front of us and took us 25 minutes just to order Parking: good luck. With tanners next door this place is nuts. Vibe is really nice. Decor great. Food portions small for prices but the tacos are good . The Tijuana taco was excellent. The fried fish taco was a little bland. Hopefully with time and more runners the ordering/drink process will be much smoother. Would try again. read more

BEST SEAFOOD IN TOWN, great service, cold beer and Mexican margaritas me favorite, family restaurant

Went here after seeing it when driving by. We are a fishing family and love Mexican food! Honestly it was not worth it and super disappointing. The guacamole is literally mashed avocado topped with diced tomatoes and onion, no lime/lemon or seasoning. It is served with the saddest little circle chips in a sealed cellophane bag which is not even enough for the amount of guacamole. The Kalifornia taco was extremely messy, lacked flavor and spice when it was supposed to be spicy. The Arabe shrimp taco I wasn't able to finish, it was bland and tasted off my husband agreed. The popcorn fish also tasted off like the fish was bad so we did not finish it. Octopus spicy taco, no spice extremely bland. Fish taco was also bland. The reoccurring theme is the food is bland and the fish isn't great. Now I am battling what may be food poisoning. We will not be returning. read more

I was just in the area and stopped by. I had the spicy octopus taco and arabe shrimp taco and they were delicious! The octopus was very tender and seasoned just right. The arabe shrimp was cooked great and accompanied with a delicious white sauce. Everyone was very nice and the service was prompt. I loved it! read more

Was very excited to try this place and honestly very disappointed. The ceviche had no flavor. Ordered the chango chave drink which is described as michelada, beer, mezcal, and syrup...when I received it it tasted like a virgin margarita with soda water. If I'm not mistaken michelada is with tomato and beer...but the bartender claimed it was lime juice and salt? Just list it as a margarita then please. It also had no taste of mezcal at all which is a very distinctive Smokey flavor. He appeased us by adding a 2 count of mezcal which only proved there was none in there in the first place because the flavor dramatically changed. I was very excited for this addition to Oceanside, we need more good Mexican spots. But after our experience I am sad to report I don't think this place will last just like the others before here. It's getting 2 stars instead of 1 because the clam chowder bread bowl was actually fantastic. Xx read more
