Cash Only, Walk up window, bomb ass burritos, tacos & tostada..... about a dozen tables outside, lots of gardeners' trucks in the parking lot at lunch time so you know this place is legit. If you dunno why there are ketchup and hot sauce bottles everywhere, you clearly have a limited understanding of mexican food. That's ok. They have really good burritos for you. Picked up a chicken super burrito, a carnitas super burrito and a couple of al pastor tacos yesterday. Plenty of grub for me, the wifey and two of my kids. I even brought left over burrito to work for lunch today. Grand total was like 10 bucks. A super deal. Carnitas might be on the fatty side of some peoples preferences but I loved it. So let's say you go to one of these new taquierias that are popping up in every shopping center. You order a burrito. You take a bite of one side of your burrito. You notice that it tastes like a sour cream and cheese salad wrapped in a tortilla. Then you take a bite of the other side of the burrito and it's rice, beans and some chewy piece of meat. Halfway down the burrito, one side is melting and there's a puddle of white shit in the bottom of the foil. Not only that, pico de gallo. I hate pico de gallo! That is not La Costa. La Costa actually makes a BURRITO, which means that it is more than the sum of its parts. I don't know what spices they put in the thing but if I lay down after I eat a La Costa burrito, I get the sensation of having just smoked opium. read more

This is the place to go in high school. If you attend the high school across the street and have not had La Costa, you are not a member of the community. :P The best time to go is when business is slow. They are more carefuly about their burritos, because a few times I have gotten very fatty meat in my burrito during lunch times. I stick to the bean, cheese, and rice. The burritos are huge and you can tell the tortillas are hand made. The food isn't bad but it's not super good also. I'm Mexican and I know how to cook all the food they make there. Their cóctel de camarón is made very lazy. The onion are cut in huge pieces and cilantro is roughly chopped. They need to take the time to chop things finely for a dish like that. Many other things I have had there are just OK. read more

I started going to La Costa in 2004 or 2005, when I was in high school. It was perfect for my student budget, and I'm amazed that they've kept their prices consistent since then. I've never spent more than $7 at this place. I always order the carne asada quesadilla, which has simply marinated chopped steak with soft and crispy textures, melted cheese, lettuce, tomato, and just a little sour cream, wrapped burrito-style rather than pressed flat. The best part are the ends, where the juices from the meat are concentrated. The tacos are also really good. I've tried both carnitas and carne asada; both are great and worth trying. They pile the tacos with onions, so be sure to let them know in your order if you don't want so much. read more

And in each town (for the most part, here in the central valley), there's always that one Mexican place that stands out than the rest. And that place, my friend, is La Costa. They have a variety of Mexican dishes to choose from (tortas, mariscos, etc etc and your traditional tacos/burritos). You can choose what kind of meat. Gets very busy during lunch time during the weekdays (local high school is located across the street). Not much room to sit and enjoy your meal. I consider this place to be more ideal for take out. They only accept cash. Parking lot is limited and small and you'll find yourself driving around for parking if you come at their busy times. read more

A girl sweeping outside had to alert a man inside to take my order, while laughing she was like u order over there, pointing at a different window. I start giving my order, the man interrupted me and said "before I do that can you look up for me", I look up and there is a huge sign that said "cash only". This spot does seafood incredibly well. I ordered the campeche cocktail and a shrimp ceviche tostada. The service here is ludicrously fast! I ordered my food and before my butt touched the chair at my table they called out that my order was ready! The cocktail was chock-full of seafood, every spoonfull was heaping with the most succulent shrimp, oyster, squid, octopus, and crab. They serve it to you in a Styrofoam cup, the broth is super flavorful on its own but they do have ketchup and Tapatío on each table so you can control the amount of condiments that go into your cocktail. I came here after Los Potros was deemed "too scary" by the boyfriend. I was sold after seeing pics of their carne asada tacos here on Yelp so I ordered three. They were delicious and affordable at $1.50 apiece. The meat is well seasoned and the sauce adds the right amount of kick. There's plenty of seating and it's great to sit outside with a couple tacos and a beer while enjoying the balmy weather. I'm already hoping to come back next week! read more

I don't know if they are all owned by the same people or not but this is not one of the better locations. The one on Grant line here in Tracy is much better and the one in Brentwood seems to be consistently the best. The food is decent here but inconsistent. I don't know what it is but every time I go I order the same thing, "Carnitas Burrito,wet with green sauce" and for some reason they look at me confused. Everytime I have to explain to them what a "wet" burrito is. This seems like a pretty simple order to me. The food is decent but the cleanliness leaves a bit to be desired and I still can't understand why I have to explain my order to them every time. The price is right though so I'll be back. read more

I love la costa. Growing up in Tracy we've seen this place grow and that lead to an increase in prices but also many additions. The one reason no 5 stars? CASH ONLY. Man if they'd change that I'd come a lot more. I'm just not the type to carry cash often. So often I just go somewhere that takes card. However las costa is delicious...everything I've ever had has been amazing and large portion sizes for the price. read more
