La Deliziosa is THE best bakery in the Hudson Valley. Their products, their prices and their customer service are second to none. I've been in, on occasion, for my favorite of theirs: the Linzer tart, only to discover that the tray in the display case is empty. Not a problem. They've made one for me right then and there. I've had their pastries over the years, their Italian ice in the Summer, and it's the only place I buy birthday cakes. It's a throwback to the time when everything was right in the world. La Deliziosa is a little gem tucked away in what was once Poughkeepsie's version of Little Italy. Try it. You'll like it! read more

THe people aren't knocking each other over to be friendly. The cookies are just so-so. The chocolate chip cookie is made from a "mix" and it tasted like old shortening...disappointing for a bakery! Stay on the safe side and just order the Italian wedding cookies! I won't be going back unless someone else wants to go. read more

I saw these people at a bridal expo, went up to them in hopes to gain more information about their cakes. At first nobody even acknowledge my presence, so I decided to try to engage them in conversation so that they knew I was interested. I asked a question to a girl wearing an apron with the cake shops name on it. She replied "yup" and then walked away. For a few seconds I felt embarrassed, like I might have asked a stupid question. Then I realized the representative from the shop was just being rude. So... Dear Rude Cake Shop Girl, thanks for giving me a "taste" of what it could have been like to work with your cake shop by making me feel stupid and confused. read more

This is one of my favorite bakeries on the planet, and I have been to my share of bakeries in Manhattan and the Bronx on Arthur Ave.... the food here is amazing (especially on the holidays!!!) and it is so reasonably priced for the quality that you receive. For instance, their italian rum cakes (8") are around $15.. compare this to the lesser tasty Pastry Garden and you'll easily pay close to double this and it will not be made correctly at all! There are so many fantastic pastries and cookies here that it's hard to choose - but you'll never choose wrong for sure! They must have a very talented chocolatier on staff too because they have some really great tasting and affordable chocolate pieces during the various holidays throughout the year. My only complaint is that I often deal with young people at the counter who don't have much of a personality and can't often make recommendations if I'm torn between a couple things, but there are people on staff who will quickly jump to the task if need be. This place is a gem - best in the area. Don't waste your cash at the other bakeries around!! read more

I have used this bakery for many years. However, last Christmas when I ordered 15 dozen cookies on trays I was extremely disappointed. Only about 10% of the cookies were from the bakery. 90% of the cookies were manufactured and NOT baked by this bakery. When I called about this fact, the bakery admitted they BUY most of their cookies. Ughhh....what a rip off! Especially at the price per pound they are charging. Was walking along one dreary saturday night, heading back to the CIA, only to have the intensest craving for something sweet... and the rest is history. I ordered the peach italian ice, oh dear god, just the right amount of sweetness and flavor, perfect texture, and little, and I mean tiny pieces of real peach. I also ordered the black and white, which at the time I though was a cookie, but turned out to be the most delicious yellow cake I've ever had. I finished all this off with a .25# bag of jourdan almonds, dear lord, perfectly coated and don't threaten to crack your teeth when you bite into one. I will be going back, ASAP! read more

My fiancé and I have been dealing with this bakery for our wedding. They have been so helpful and I was so impressed how the chef came out to help us save money with an alternative way of giving us exactly what we wanted. They gave us a sample cake to try and it was delicious. My fiancé grew up in the city and has not been able to find a bakery that compared to the one he grew up going to until now. I'm surprised no one mentioned the rum baba that is superb, plain in rum sauce or with cream filling. I travel 25 miles just for this. This the most reasonably priced real Italian pastry shop north of Arthur Ave. Try a cappuccino with cinnamon and a dust of cocoa. I hope they stick it out because young people just don't want to put the hours of hard work in during the wee hours bakers must keep. I I've been to all the remaining bakeries in 75 miles and prefer coming here for my treats since I can't make it to Napoli once a week. really think it deserves 4.5 stars but can't set that here. read more

I was in touch with La Deliziosa about my wedding cake. The woman I spoke to on the phone multiple times was unenthusiastic and not very friendly. I tried several sample cakes, each of which looked nice but didn't taste great. The buttercream was not real buttercream but rather vegetable shortening, and all of the six fillings I tried tasted artificial. Get your wedding cake elsewhere! read more

I don't think you can go wrong here. The parking is difficult and the location isn't great but once you're inside...that bakery smell....mmmmmm. My favorites include the chocolate cannoli shells, angel/devil cookies and chocolate cigars. Also, the apple crumb cake is SO moist and at around very reasonably priced - I have brought them to friends' houses many times. read more
