We had come here on a Saturday afternoon, which turned out to be a beautiful sunny day. We loved how many options there were, and that everything was vegan! I had settled on the hazelnut, while my children decided on vanilla, and my mother the mango. The small were actually quite big, and took time to finish! The place itself was quite small so, we decided to sit outside and soak up the sun's rays. Pricing for the ice cream was also reasonable, with local flavours being promoted as part of the fruit season (e.g. strawberries). Service was great as well, with us not having to wait too long in line to be served. Overall, a wonderful little treat for those that prefer vegan ice cream. Stopped in for a little treat with the hubby and our 7 month old daughter. Luckily we went on an off hour as it seems this place gets super busy, they had signage directing peeps where to line up. We didn't wait long, just a couple of minutes to place our order. I can't resist anything peanut butter so had to try their salted peanut butter fudge Gelato along with their Niagara Peach cobbler flavour. To some this may have been an odd flavour combo but I loved it. Hubby chose the coconut bourbon vanilla with the straccitella Gelato. There was a small seating area off to the side of the building however there was a serious amount of wasps buzzing about so we decided to continue to walk down the Lakeshore and eat our Gelato on the way. What can I say different about a place that has so many reviews and the average rating is close to 5 stars? First why is there not a higher rating available? I would have easily given them more. First they are not loud that are a vegan place. I think majority of the customers dot even realize that it is. The gelatos are good that you just can't tell if they are vegan. Between the five of us we had 10 different flavours and almost all of them were mind blowingly good. Amongst our orders we had two affogatos and it was just not the gelatos but even the espresso was amazing. Amongst the flavours we loved were Canadian Maple Whisky (WG-99s), Coffee, Biscotti, Niagara Glazed Pear, Nutella, Pistachio, Chocolate. For our treat next day we also picked up desserts for the next few days. Butter Pecan, Maple Butter, and Lemon Meringue tarts. All the fillings are top notch but the crusts were okay. The Lotus Biscoff, Nutella, and the Hello Dolly Bars were top notch. It would be hard to select which amongst the three I liked the best. They've got a nice setup of a bunch of unique flavors. Some sound better than they taste, and some live up to it. They've got some vegan options as well. Biggest thing that probably wouldn't have me coming back here too often is the small quantity and high prices. Otherwise a decent stop for some ice cream. read more

So so so good. We were downtown and walked across the bridge to get here, went in June, there was quite the line up but it was definitely worth it! So fresh and refreshing. Very nice dessert place. If you are in Oakville and looking for a nice snack or indulge in your sweet tooth, this is a great place to go. Just across from the bridge it has a lot to choose from. Ok so when it comes to authentic Gelato in Oakville this is the place! They pride themselves on having staff that has studied Gelato in Italy, yes you read right, it's a full out 3 year course in Italy! It's an art there. They have amazing coffee and also pizza. One rough thing is there is no where to sit except a small amount of seating inside and some outside seating. In the summer its next to impossible to get a spot. Our whole fam really enjoyed the gelato here and they even had sugar free ice cream for my dad, who's diabetic. The owners wife was there when we went and she was the sweetest lady. I really liked the cups they used for cappuccinos and she offered to find the cost for me and possibly get me a set! How nice of her! Nice central and clean location. The gelato was tasty and refreshing, and a wide assortment of interesting flavours like Avocado Lime, but I was a bit disappointed with the lack of traditional Italian flavours, like Baci or Stracciatella. They did have a delicious Pistachio. read more

I will admit off the bat that I am a returning customer. Often you will find my motorcycle parked out front after a long day of riding, cooling off with some gelato. It is a small locale with some indoor seating and a bit of outdoor seating. The outdoor tables are great to watch the cars and bikes go by. They have a vast selection of different gelato flavours that are so intense with flavour, they will make your mouth go bonkers! Personally I don't like very sweet gelato, so I stay away from the chocolates and bananas (and surprisingly the coconut!) and instead opt for something a bit more sour - my die hard favorites are the lime-mint and the blood orange. If you haven't had these, I strongly suggest you try them! And try them you can! The staff will gladly allow you to sample a few flavours for those who are indecisive like me. There are a selection of other food items and beverages, none of which I can recite as I can't help but to order gelato every time. The line system is a bit weird and confusing, as they want you to pay at the cash first and then move towards the right where the gelato is (you will often see people entering the line the other way). The only reason I give this place a 4-star instead of 5* is due to the prices which are on the higher side. Then again, it is downtown Oakville! read more

Gelato is very good. That being said, it does seem a bit overpriced for what you get. More importantly,service needs work...server refused to start scooping my kids gelato until I had paid, even though customer in front of me was taking forever to order from cashier. She didn't seem to get that it was creating a huge bottleneck. Starting other people's orders would be a lot more efficient vs. twiddling her thumbs....faster service equals happy customers and more revenue! I was in the area with hubby and we decided to go for a gelato. It's been a wile since we moved out of Oakville so we hadn't had a chance to go back to La Dolce Vita. Hubby 80 has a hard time with debit ...cards since he had a stroke, remembering the pin and all so he carries cash on him and never has problems. I have a sore hip so he went line up to get the gelato. He was gone for a while, at least half an hour. He comes back no gelato, they didn't want to take his cash so they refused to serve him. I wasn't impressed and I didn't care so much, but I knew he was looking forward to it so I went and line up. Vanilla gelato is my favourite because it's not too sweet and it doesn't disturb my sugar level too much. So I get hubby favourite and a kid's portion of the vanilla. I had a taste of mine and noticed it didn't taste like vanilla, it tasted like extremely sweet coconut so I brought it back thinking she made a mistake. Turnout they make it with coconut milk, so it doesn't taste like vanilla at all and it's so sweet I couldn't eat it. So overall I'm underwhelmed with the customer service and this is not gelato (gelato is made with milk). What ever that is, it's gross. Hubby wasn't impressed with his either so needless to say we're never going back. Véganisme and being woke should be a choice, it shouldn't be imposed on you. I regret coming to this place. I spoke kindly and told the waitress that she gave me vanilla and lemon, but i asked for Vanilla. The lady and the guy whom i spoke to, were unreasonable, why wouldn't just replace one scoop of Vanilla that costs 3 dollars and change (So expensive!). This ruin my son's day. Pistachio. That's all I'll say. I personally think that's their best flavour but that's just me. I shared a medium with three flavours and it was pretty good. Ok for real best ice cream in the area. No they don't do crazy and interesting flavours like downtown hot spots but there menu is solid, the ice cream is creamy rich and is made with real ingredients that cannot be replicated with flavouring or food dye. The espresso is strong, the way I like it. The gelato is obviously a favorite treat for the locals because their is a never-ending rotation of people coming in for it. They make the gelato daily and have a rotation of amazing flavors. (I especially loved the cinnamon flavor.) This was my favorite place to study and people watch for a bit on my visit to Oakville. They open at noon or else I would've been getting my morning coffee from here as well! read more

Good gelato but very expensive for what you get. And they have raise the prices again this year. All their cups are misleading in size. You would think that the bottom of the cup is flat but they have a raised bump in the middle that reduces the volume of gelato by at least 1/3. It is a total rip off! read more

I recently went here for gelato with my friend and was pretty disappointed. The flavours tasted like their descriptions but the consistency felt like I was eating Bryers ice cream; it was not dense enough for a gelato. I'm also not a fan of the high prices and the raised centre within the cups. It's really unfortunate that Casa del Gelato closed down on Kerr St. because they were amazing! My husband and I went for an espresso last night. And sorry to say it was horrible, it was cold, extremely bitter and acidic. And an almond croissant, which was extremely stale. I usually don't write negative reviews, but I had been looking forward to that espresso all day . We've had great flavourful espresso at Valentino's in West Hamilton, which is much closer to us. This used to be a wonderful spot to grab gelato. I was there this evening, however, and the quality has taken a downward turn. For one thing, they've made the majority of their flavours vegan, even classics like mint choc chip and rum and raisin. This has resulted in a texture that is a glue-like goop - and it's incredibly sweet, to the point where it leaves a strange aftertaste. This is not the creamy, smooth gelato they used to serve. If you've changed your recipe - please reconsider! And definitely go back to making non-vegan options. read more
