Best molcajetes in LA. My family discovered Little Mexico over five years ago through family friends, and it was amazing then and still is now. We ordered the shrimp ceviche, super fresh and not spicy, which was perfect since they have plenty of salsas. We also ordered three molcajete rancheros, each came with salad, rice, beans, and a generous amount of meat, all really well seasoned. My parents are Mexican and it's hard to find a spot they truly love, but this is the one. Service is fast, they keep the chips coming, and the salsa is so good. Cozy spot with occasional live music. I ate here before and i remeber liking the shrimp cocktail. We asked to sit outside because we had our small dog. There was a table but it was in rough shape, but we were happy they could accommodate. We ordered steak and eggs it came with a salad. When salad came my husband didn't know what it was it didn't look right lol. Like it was thrown on, but it tasted fresh! He didn't like his red rice. I ordered bass in butter filet, my white rice was hard. I liked my potatoes wedges. The fish was okay and portion was good. Their chips are fantastic has a great flavor. Not plain and cane with two kinds of salsas. We drank ice water. Was busy on a Saturday. Glad to see people enjoying this place...we were surprised for a Mexican Restaurant in Montebello on Whittier Blvd didn't have wonderful Mexican rice! Delicious food! We got the molcajete ranchero. It's got a comforting, authentic, home cooked taste, served with restaurant pizzazz. Very generous portion sizes. This place has been my to go spot for Mariscos for years and the passed 2 times it's just been such a disappointment. Yesterday I had ask for a Mojarra mojo de ajo , when they brought it they brought it with a paste that looked like lard , waitresses stated it was garlic but it did not taste or smelled like garlic . My son asked for Horchata and they literally gave him watered down horchata. The rice has always been my favorite and yesterday again beyond disappointed. Even the ceviche ! Fantastic Mexican Food with a Chill Vibe! My wife and I love going to Little Mexico! The atmosphere is relaxed, with TVs for sports and a jukebox playing in the background. The service is always good, and even though plant-based dishes aren't always on the menu, the chef has made one for me the last two times, which I really appreciate. I went for a bowl of Menudo, it had absolutely no flavor no taste it was just boiled water with corn and meat and a little bit of something red. I had to load it up with the onion and chili they provided and it was still tasteless . read more

The chili Verde plate is delicious!! I have also enjoyed the tacos and menudo. The salsa is amazing but spicy.

The food is great here. The atmosphere can be better. When we arrived it was not very busy and yet it took a while before we were asked for drinks. The food presentation is very nice and the bowls that the posole and menudo come in are large. I wish their sodas were fountain drinks instead of from a can. I'll keep it short and straight to the point . I ordered a plate of chicken enchiladas topped with sour cream and avocado side- rice and beans was included. I only took a few bites 5 to be exact and clearly the entire plate smelled bad and tasted bad. The sour cream started to have air bubbles. I just wanted to vomit. They have really bad costumer service the waitress had attitude with our teens when ordering their food, plus we were missing an order for one of our teens and brought it out when everyone was done. My niece took us here and the seafood we ordered was good. I got a fish ceviche tostada along with a shrimp and octopus cocktail. The tostada was piled high and was a meal in itself so that was a nice surprise. The cocktail was average for the price. The seafood is always fresh and you can always count on getting a good Michelada to have with your seafood. The food is priced very well too. Service isn't consistent, but it's not terrible. Most of the time most waitresses here forget my tortillas, but not today. Expect to wait on a Friday evening. My go to dish is the molcajete de mariscos. It's fish, shrimp, cheese, cactus, and I substitute the octopus for chorizo. All in a salsa and It's super flavorful. It comes with a side of rice, beans tortillas and a side salad. All for I believe less than $14. You won't get this anywhere else. My second choice would be the costa brava soup. This soup has shrimp and fish and it's delicious. Ordered me the Molcajetes de Camaron and a lemon margarita, both were delicious. The margarita wasn't overly sweet which is how I like them. I could only eat half of the Molcajetes de Camaron, I had enough to take for lunch the next day. The waitress was awesome, very friendly and attentive. The new Covid-19 outdoor seating is actually kind of nice. If you like really spicy food, try the camarones del diablo, they'll make your toes curl. Order them with fried potatoes so you can dip the potatoes in the camarones del Diablo chili sauce once you finish the shrimp. read more

Little hole in the wall, if you didn't know about this place you'd drive right passed it. It's right next to the METRO PCS store. The food quality is really good. The Aguas Frescas are always good. The turnaround time to receive your food is good. The waitress service has a lot to improve.......Mind you our waitress was very kind and respectful. We first walked in and we didn't get acknowledged. We sat ourselves and waited a minute or two for the menus. The waitress took our drink and food orders the drinks took a long time to arrive at our table. Their food is good and I'd give it a better rating, however the service is poor. I ordered on the phone and the server said it would be ready in 20 minutes. When I arrived to get my order, the server said it would take another 5 minutes and was apologetic. I waited 20 minutes more before my order was ready. The restaurant wasn't even busy. read more

She had my family waiting to order while she was eating on the job, my son caught her and she admitted forgetting about us. I had the Mariscada Molcajete Which was ok, I think it had too much fish , and I didn't get a nopales like it said on menu. My son got camarones costa azul which were big, but salty. For my to-go order, I order two burritos and they are a little big. The burritos came with a small side of lettuce. I specifically made sure to ask for red sauce on the side for my two burritos.
