Just the place to go to when looking for traditional Mexican pan dulce!!! I got an assortment of empanadas and conchas.

By far some of the best pan dulce/sweet bread I have ever had. The ladies are always super nice. They answer any questions you may have about the items. It's very quiet and calm. Be sure to have patience cause it's not unusual to be super busy. This is the only place I go to for pan in bcs. I've tried others and it just doesn't compare. The prices are worth it too. If I'm in town I make sure to stop by. Aside from the bread they also have a few other items. read more

Hole in the wall, mom and pop shop. No one speaks English and I wouldn't have it any other way. The barbacoa tacos were huge and outstanding. My kids also got different tacos. The donuts? To die for. The chocolate flan...so good. Every other thing we got, well...I don't know what each pan dulce or confectionery is called. But everything was delicious, fresh, and tasted like it was made with love. They still open for take-out during this COVID-19 situation. Not sure about delivery or pick up options, but they are OPEN, and there are still a lot of food and bakery options (although not as many as regular but I would say they kept about 70% types of their bakery stuffs) I got ojo de pancha this time. Pan Dulce here is legit. Coffee is good. They have a wide selection of pan Dulce and it was soft. There are also tables and lots of seating. So, you can go with a larger group, and enjoy pan dulce with your coffee. read more

Fantastic. Coming here for dessert was the BEST decision. Little hole in the wall with not much of a sign out front. But the sights and smells inside are just insanely good. Their pastry/dessert section was way larger than I expected. It was too hard to chose just one. I got the tres leches cake and the chocoflan. Both only $2, and both were everything I wanted and more. The tres leches was light, not too sweet, but full of creamy milky goodness. There were what tasted like crushed butterfingers on top, which was just genius. The cake portion of the chocoflan was decadent chocolate-ness, but not too dark and heavy. Just perfect. I can't believe it took me so long to try this place. There seems to be a bit of confusion on the name of this business. It is listed in local yellow pages (B.V. Area-Wide for one) as I have entered it, and the permits inside match. The lettering on the roof facade does say 'Bakery' and below 'Tacos' and also (i think) 'Tamales', with no name. This place has been there for years, at M.L.K. & Parker in Bryan, but I never took notice of the name. What I did notice is the baked goods. I think I first came here in 2001 or 2002, after a visit to La Mexicana. They have a wide selection of empanadas, fritters, custard-filled, rolls, and even a few donuts. They have a bit wider variety of Mexican baked goods than the Bryan La Michoacana. On my recent visit, I bought 2 custard-filled, and 2 cream-cheese empanadas. Both were superior to their counterparts at La Michoacana: the custard wasn't as sweet, and the dough tasted more like proper donut dough, not relying on a egg glaze, and sugar coating to correct bland dough. The sweet empanadas were extremely fresh even in the evening, and the cream cheese was richer, smoother, and more subtle tasting. I also tried a taco. Its not the first time I've had one there, and everything has remained the same: after the lunch rush, the taco meat steam table is not refreshed. I always seem to end up there in the late afternoon, and this visit was no different. The only taco meat that looked moist was the stewed pork. The woman said it wasn't pastor (I was in the mood for something less powerful), so I went for it. The thing was huge, bulging out of the larger than usual 8-inch tortilla (I asked for maiz, but got flour). The pork wasn't as loud & strong as pastor, but it still was potent tasting, and heavy. It reminded me of a much better version of the guisada I've tried at the George Bush, and San Jacinto Mi Cocina locations. read more

Love this little authentic Mexican bakery in the heart of the 'hood just north of downtown Bryan. It's located in a dicey looking strip mall that also has a gas station, liquor store, hair salon, and VERY delicious taco shack. The baked goods are fresh, cheap and as real as it gets. Come for the food, not the ambiance...because it's pretty hole-in-the-wall (which is my favorite type place, but it scares of some). So good!! read more

Born and raised in Bryan, Texas and hands down the best pan dulce in the BCS area! I don't know why I'm barely writing this review but I'm happy I am. La Espiga Dorada Bakery, which I've always called La Panaderia, has fresh and delicious pastries. Other places in town usually taste like day-old bread and aren't packed with much flavor; my personal opinion. This place has legit some of the best Mexican sweet bread I have ever had anywhere! Depending on what you like, there is a lot of variety.

They have delicious cake! I think it was tres Leches? Their other baked goods are sweet and crumbly but not over powering. We also tried their tacos which resembles the chain places but their have far superior thick flour tortillas, they almost taste like naan. Wouldn't go back for the tacos since the shack outside it much better but their baked goods are very cheap and delicious! read more
