I have tried many Chinese fast food places near me--Ontario, Chino, and Montclair. LA Express is my favorite! Their chow mein and fried rice are delicious! They have a huge selection of entrees to choose from too. They also have deals for families, a bowl combo and a lunch combo that you can get on any day from 10a--3p. The customer service here is fantastic. I always see a young Asian woman or an older one and they're both talkative and friendly. The place is always super clean, too. tl,dr: Everything is stewed or braised. Nothing is stir fried. Everything lacks the flavor of the wok (Wok hei) I wanted to look for a fast food Chinese spot and found this on yelp. I saw mix reviews, especially with older reviews being positive and the newer ones not so much, mostly focusing on the lack of flavor or the flavor being off. After trying this place I know exactly the issues. EVERYTHING IS STEWED OR BRAISED. At least it was for what i got. Broccoli beef, teriyaki chicken, bbq pork, spicy pork ribs, bbq chicken. (i bought for my whole family) Heres the thing. Braising or stewing food is a "LAZY" style of cooking. You put everything in a pot, leave and let it cook for some time, and you come back and its done. Chinese style stir fry is ACTIVE. You need to be there every step cause everything is hot and everything is fast. Stew/braise when compared to Chinese stir fry, the textures of food, especially meat, are different and distinct, and i could def tell. Everything just looked too watery and not "sauced". Another note; a major factor you lose when stewing/braising is WOK HEI (the breath of the wok). Wok hei is that slightly smoky, seared flavor you get from a blazing wok heated by a 50,000 btu jet flame of a burner. It what makes Chinese food what it is. How do i know they didnt stir fry on a wok, the beef in the broccoli beef is grey. Not a sear in site. And for the meats with a char. It looks like they put it under a broiler to get a char on it, but it still had a texture of stewed/braised meat. Here, nothing is stir fried at all. Nothing has wok hei flavor. So what defines the food as Chinese, the essence of Chinese food, even from a fast food one, is gone. This place was very disappointing. Panda express has better wok hei than this place. read more

Found this place after we moved to this area and at first we really liked it. Food was spicy and good, portions are huge. We order the same thing usually but recently the food has been different, and somehow a worse variation of the last time. Their kung pao is usually spicy and flavorful, but the last few times it's been.....off...no peanuts and tastes more like a teriyaki sauce with some water chestnuts. I definitely will be returning. Noodles didn't taste too salty and I think this will be regular spot now. They also had a stamp card and if you go more than a few times, there's something free. The portions are huge and the food was very tasty. I look forward to coming back and trying other items. I also want to emphasize that the place was so clean and spacious! Very efficient service and helpful friendly staff. I get decision paralysis when there is a large menu but they were very helpful in navigating it. 3 stars. Quick and inexpensive chinese takeout food. The value here is pretty good considering how much food they give you. But I thought all the dishes were too salty and oily. It is chinese takeout so it's expected to be extra oily and salty, but it was still to heavy for my liking. Their chao mian was a also a bit too mushy and the orange chicken had way too much breading. If you're really hungry and want an abundance of food, this place is worth checking out. Was in the area and decided to give this place a try, the restaurant is newly remodeled and it's super modern and clean. The staffs are extremely friendly and attentive. I loveee their chow mein orange chicken it's super fresh, crispy and flavorful. The give really big portion, for the price is worth it! Because you can't literally feed 3 ppl with it, i was able to share with my kids and still have left overs. This time they somehow completely mixed up my food even though there was only one other person here. They gave me a completely different order and I had to drive back from my house and the food was cold. On top of that their phone isn't working so I couldn't call ahead to fix this, I had to go and wait 20 mins for them to make my food since they had basically no options available and it's supposed to be fast food......ended up wasting an hour total dealing with all this! They also didn't compensate for any of the inconvenience like at all, I would've been happy with like a free drink or something since you're wasting my time....
