My family and I used to go here ever since I was in middle school. This place has changed so much. The customer service is still really nice. And the owners are so sweet. However the food has gone downhill. I was there this Sunday and I could not finish my food because it was so bland. Liked this place. Not from this area and stopped in. The orange chicken was fire and the cream cheese wontons super delicate and perfect. The container the sweet and sour sauce came in was different and a great idea, it's an attached lid hinged on. The orange chicken has the sauce so nicely caramelized, oof. I liked that the bbq pork wasn't artificial red colored. My body doesn't agree to the dye! Just what you would expect for a fast Chinese food place. Checked a few other places locally and decided to go with this one. Chicken wings were huge, and pepper chicken was delicious but that's about it for the pros of this place. Got 2 boxes of beef and broccoli and both boxes only had about 4 pieces of beef. Lots and lots of broccoli. Chow mein was very oily, ate it the second day and the box was in a small puddle of oil once it settled. I would only recommend to get the fried rice and seems like the entree could be hit or miss read more

I yelped Chinese fast food in the area and this spot came up. I recently moved to the area so I decided to try this place out. It located in the shopping plaza next to Walmart and DD's Discounts. It's a typical fast food Chinese restaurant where you pick and choose your food items that comes with rice and/or noodles. I ordered the orange chicken and teriyaki chicken. The serving is huge! The amount of food the lady gave me could've been two-three meals, easily. The food was good and very filling. Definitely worth it for $8! read more

Yes, this place is a hole in a wall. That means it's located in a shady area (i.e. think bums, Walmart, and 99 cents store) and it's interior can use some updates, but all in all, it's our favorite fast food joint for Chinese food. We've been going to this place for awhile now and just discovered how DELICIOUS their wonton soup is! For a large container of soup filled with chicken, pork, shrimp and lots of veggies and wontons, it's only about $6. Make sure to tell the counter attendant that you want that soup right away so that you aren't waiting 5-10 minutes for them to cook it--although I wouldn't mind waiting that long for the soup. This restaurant is really generous with their portions. In fact, we bought two 2-item combos, wonton soup, and 3 pieces of fried chicken wings all for only $20! This place is good, cheap, and fast. I literally have the phone number of this place saved in my phone as "Home Girl" because she always hooks it up with fresh food. The food here is good, and the service is great. It is a family owned and ran business. Always try stuff on her side board, she will make it fresh in the back, and she is not shy about giving out big portions. The price here is also generous. Rice, Chow mein, and two meats for 6 bucks, and trust they don't scoop lightly. read more

I used to have my all time favorite chinese food place in west covina, but they heartbreakingly closed down and have been for years. I met my now gf back when we were friends and she really wanted to have me try this place claiming it was the best chinese food ever. To my surprise, it is, tastes just like the one I used to go to. Orange chicken and white rice is heaven, can't go wrong with their chow mein either. I didn't even mention how polite and courteous the staff is, they don't ever make me feel like I'm not wanted (a lot of asian business have for some reason). They even went so far as to replace my food when it fell everywhere. If you want bang for your buck, come here, they make sure every inch of your box or bowl is packed with food. Worse Chinese food I have EVER eaten. Vile. Disgusting. Almost inedible. It is so greasy and lacking in flavor. Look, I'm not expecting 5 Star gourmet food, but I should be able to eat it without having grease drip off of it and feeling like I am going to throw up. I gave up after 4 or 5 bites- I was really afraid of getting sick. The pork had so much fat on it that it was literally slimy. Everything I got was saturated in grease- the noodles, the teriyaki chicken, the pork, and the beef and broccoli. What a huge disappointment and waste of money. This place use to be very good but is now under new management. Went in today after work bad idea asked for a large chow mein 6 egg rolls and I paid 19.07. I asked the lady and started talking to me in Chinese so I told her that's fine whatever. Few hours after eating my gf got really bad gas, my sister felt nauseated, and i had major heart burn. I orignially gave this palce 4 stars but after all the symptoms i took it down to 2. Don't let the hot plate area fool you. Order off of the menu. This place has really good fried rice, in which the give a lot of protein (chicken, veggies, shrimp) for a good price! The fried rice can also feed about 2 people with enough to have seconds so it's enough for leftovers! I was getting my order during closing time and they made me a fresh order of fried rice and even gave me extra food off of the hotplate because they were closing and we're going to throw away. Came in with my grandma and service dog and the minute we stepped in the door they lady by the cashier immediately yelled at us that NO DOGS!!! I tried explaining to her that he was a SERVICE DOG AND HE WAS WEARING HIS VEST AND I.D even showed her his *ID and she just shut me off. I took a look at the sign outside their door and it clearly states that my dog was allowed inside the restaurant. I told her about their sign outside and told me okay take a picture of it. This "hole in the wall" not only has great regular Chinese food, their soups are out of this world! I returned to this place after several years because the Chinese fast food place in Peppertree Square in Claremont was converted into a sit-down restaurant. I knew that the China Wok Express food was good before, but I had never tried their soups. We began with Egg Flower Soup and, just today, tried their Wonton Soup. Oh my gosh! DELICIOUS! We were heading out to visit family in the Inland Empire and stopped by since it was close to the freeway exit, we received large portions of food for a small price, amazing service. Our son put a quarter into the machine but nothing came out and they immediately gave us back a quarter, no questions asked, apologizing, tried a different one and worked. My daughter and I went in there for dinner and got combo B plate. We bought chow mein, broccoli and beef and teriyaki chicken. When we walked in I seen a cockroach and tried to notify the manager but they ignored me and I let them have the benefit of the doubt. Once we got home I gave my daughter some of the teriyaki chicken and noticed first off that the teriyaki sauce was missing so I told her it was just chicken and then she took a bite and it spit it out instantly! I said what's wrong and I took a bite and it TASTED LIKE SOAP OR SOME KIND OF CHEMICAL! I was going to just push it to the side and eat the rest but from them piling the food on top of each everything else tasted the same way. I called and they refused to give me a free combo B on my next visit and asked me to save it and take it back to them but I was not going to waste anymore time or money on this place. After working all day the last thing I wanted to do was have to drive all the way back. It's disgusting! I told the lady to take a piece of the teriyaki chicken herself and try it and she refused! That made me suspicious. I'll definitely be reporting them. If you are thinking of having your children or family eat here I would THINK TWICE. I'm not one to post reviews and just read them but this was unacceptable and someone needs to reevaluate this place. read more
