    Dry chicken

Fun place - and sour cream chicken enchiladas are to die for!! Decor : Absolutely a nice and clean TexMex environment. Charming spaces and tables are not too close together. Music is softly playing in the background. The bar is large with three TVs. Very warm and inviting. Score: 10 out of 10 Chips: Chips are medium thickness, unsalted, very nice. Score: 7.5 out of 10 Salsa: Salsa has a beautiful traditional tomato based flavor medium on the spicing and low heat - flavorful. Score: 9 out of 10 Chicken Quesadilla w/ onions & peppers: Skip this one. The chicken is absolutely bone dry, tough, and overcooked. The peppers and onions are beautifully sautéed al dente and the cheese veg and meat ratios are proportional. Score: 2 out of 10 Guacamole: Very nice, but had bit of saltiness to the point I could not enjoy it. (Note: I also don't use much salt myself, so the average person may not even notice it.) Score: 2 out of 10 Beef Enchilada with chili con Carne sauce: Good portion. Meat is moist, not greasy, but also not seasoned very much. The chili carne sauce was nice but had a bit of sweetness (possibly sugar added). Was enjoyable, but not outstanding. Score: 7 out of 10 Sour Cream Chicken Enchilada: Amazing! Outstanding! Absolutely get some! The chicken is extremely moist, absolutely perfect seasoning with just a gentle hint of heat. The sauce has a beautiful tang from the sour cream and the correct consistency. Good portion. Can't wait to come back and have them again. Score: 10 out of 10 Server (CiCi) Absolutely wonderful. Very attentive refresh my drink without me asking for it and very courteous. Score: 10 out of 10 Overall Score: 7.5 But for the guacamole and quesadilla issues, score would be 9 out of 10. DEFINITELY go for the Sour Cream Enchiladas!!!! I'll be back for those!

AMBIENCE: pretty crowded and small place for all the tables they have, making you feel like you're on a mission trying to get to the bathroom is not super decorated. SERVICE: a little slow on busy days (even on Sunday) not sure if they are short staffed FOOD: food was basic. Tasty food though. Alcoholic Drinks were good

I feel like this place should have a rating than it does...I enjoyed it! The atmosphere was fun and upbeat, nicely decorated and plenty of seating. Our server was knowledgeable, offered opinions when asked and friendly. The food was freshly prepared and hot upon arrival. My flauta was crispy with delicious queso on top, my chalupa was full of fresh ingredients and a nice crispy shell underneath. I would definitely come back.

Not a Puffy taco.... this is a toastada!!

Overpriced for the poor quality in food. I feel like the only good thing about this place is the margaritas.

The waitress was sweet, but remained slow throughout the entire meal. Our waitress never offered drink refills, and we waited extended periods for a to-go box and our check before finally going to the cashier ourselves. The biggest issue was a strong sewage-like odor coming from the restroom area. We were seated nearby, and every time the bathroom doors opened, the smell drifted into the dining room. Even the handwashing station in the dining area had the same unpleasant odor. The food looked great when it arrived, and the chips and salsa seemed fresh. However, I was disappointed to learn they no longer serve guacamole with their fajitas. The chicken fajitas arrived sizzling hot, but became very dry as they cooled. They were spicy, but lacked much flavor. The rice and beans were good. Overall, between the slow service, unpleasant smell, and mediocre food, I would not return or recommend this restaurant. There are plenty of other Mexican restaurants in Waco that I'd try before coming back here.

There's so much seasoning on them that you don't get to appreciate the salsa because the chips are overpowering.. Thought we'd give it a try seeing as it was 10 minutes off I-35. Found the small place and it was exactly what we were looking for! The chips and salsa was super tasty, the half and half tea was on point, and you can't go wrong with a Mexican coke! Ordered the cheese enchiladas plate and the wife got a quesadilla. We were pleasantly satisfied and they hit the spot. Tbh though, the beans and rice won my heart being so flavorful and delicious. The service was superb and I appreciated their thoughtfulness of checking on us to make sure we were doing ok. Their homemade chips are light and crispy, and their salsa is super flavorful while not overly spicy. It hits that happy medium between my husband and me. Breakfast is also great. You go in and pretty much grab a table unless there's a line with people waiting. Service is always friendly and efficient. Prices are fair. Typical mom and pop type interior with a mixture of booth seating and tables with metal chairs. It's always clean. Branch out and try something new. Highly recommend.

Also, I got the yucca chips which came with three different sauces. That were just a perfect compliment. Then I had the beef empanada that came with a spiced cheese sauce, refried beans and some amazing rice. Normally when I get stuff like that, I'll just skip the rice and beans... But these were amazing. The rice cooked perfectly it wasn't overcooked or mushy. And the refried beans was smooth yet tasty. Not bland. The empanadas were handmade tortillas that were created and the deep-fried and came on a bed of shredded cabbage, which kept it from getting mushy on the bottom and allowed for the empanada to cool without becoming soggy. And the sauce is the cheese pickled onions on top were just an amazing combination. And then I had gotten the tacos and I thought it was like one taco each, but each taco was like huge. I got a chicken mole taco, and I got al paster pork taco, and finally I got a shrimp taco. Thinking they would be small, but they came on lettuce and we're all amazing and fresh. He asked me if I thought I was gonna eat all this by myself and I was laughing and think one empanada ...no, it came with three. And the tacos came with came with an amazing fresh piece of watermelon seasoned with spices. It was an amazing feast. He is such a gifted Chef. The seating is in the union so it's like a big hub where you can try different kinds of restaurants. And I walked around for a while before I pick this one, but his food just looks so fresh and tasty and it was. I am so glad I picked him. Definitely gonna have to come back and try the rest of his food and I suggest that you give him a try to cause this place is amazing and needs to be experienced. And don't miss dessert... I stood at the counter for about five minutes waiting to place my order while an employee continued making tortillas and completely ignored my existence. Not a "Hi," not an "I'll be right with you," not even eye contact. I genuinely started wondering if I had somehow become invisible. After finally placing my order, I waited another ten minutes for my to-go food. When they eventually handed me an order, it wasn't even mine. The same employee who took my order was the one who gave me the wrong bag, which was honestly impressive in a way I wish it hadn't been. The restaurant only had a couple of customers at the time, so this wasn't a case of being overwhelmed during a lunch rush. There were more employees working than customers ordering, yet somehow my husband and I still felt forgotten. What really sealed the experience was the complete lack of urgency or concern. We were clearly frustrated, and the staff seemed entirely unaware--or entirely unbothered. It's hard to tell which is worse. The food saved this review from being one star because it was actually good. But good tacos can only carry so much weight when the customer service makes you feel like you're interrupting someone's day by ordering food at a restaurant. If the service matched the quality of the food, Fuego would be a five-star experience. Right now, the tortillas are doing all the heavy lifting.
