We love La Fiesta, and come here for dinner and margaritas about twice a month. First off, their margs are ridiculously good (and strong). If you want a bang for your buck, you gotta try these bad boys out. As for the food, I get the stuffed avocado every time I come here. It's absolutely fantastic, especially if you like avos. . The picture doesn't do this food justice. I was way too eager to dig in and forgot to take a photo first. PS: Duke is an awesome bartender. We try to come by when he is working. Looked forward to eating here...love trying different Mexican places. Well, this was a bust! The place was clean, the bathroom was awful, dirty and stinky, the salsa tasted like tomato paste, the chips were ok, and the food was just average at best. The corn cakes, the desserts and drinks are the only good things to get here. I've tried this place a few times and it never gets better. Not worth the effort in my opinion. The place was practically empty and we had to wait over 10 minutes to be seated. Our waitress was really sweet and very apologetic about the wrong food but the manager never came and spoke to us even though my father in law specifically asked her to have him/her come to the table. Not sure what has happened to the food. I had the tamale bowl yesterday. To say it was bad is an understatement. It was no better then can tamales from A convenient store, covered with Wolfe brand chili and cheese. No flavor what so ever and just plain awful. I've been coming to La Fiesta the majority of my 54 years. This is just a good ole Tex Mex staple. I have noticed the food is often hit or miss depending on what you order but, for the most part, it's really good. I only have one major complaint. What in earth have you done to the Original queso?! It has always been the best I've ever had until today. It was watery and tasted like powdered cheese. We always get a bowl to take the leftovers home, but we had 2 bites of it left the rest on the table. So disappointed. Not sure what you did but PLEASE fix it! read more

We were visiting Waco from Baton Rouge, LA. We wanted our favorite, Mexican food, but had no idea where to go. We didn't want to go to a chain restaurant that is available back home, we wanted something that the locals frequent. With the help from Yelp reviews and pictures, we selected La Fiesta. We arrived around 545 pm on a Saturday evening and the large parking lot had many cars already. To me, this is a good sign. The decor inside is brightly colored and there are plenty of tables and booths. He ordered the fajita trio with queso topping and I ordered the half order of Pancho nachos. Everything was so good! We really wanted to try the sopapilla cheesecake but were so full we did not have room; that is the only disappointment. Our waiter, Taylor C was friendly and provided great service. When I'm in the Waco area, I enjoy coming here for dinner and purple margaritas! The margarita is really the only thing that sticks out to me, the food is okay. This is a busy location, but I believe it's one of the better restaurants out here in the Hewitt/Waco area. I love the salsa, it's does have a kick though! The food here is good but the Togo service here is awful. Anytime we have ordered Togo from here it has been a bad experience. The first time we had to wait forever for anyone to even talk to us so we could order and the overall wait to get our food took over an hour, after that I tried ordering through door dash to see if that would make it any faster but it kinda doesn't, instead it only seems to make things more complicated. In the instructions on DoorDash it tells you to "skip the line and show them your order details." Well apparently there is no way to "skip the line" because anytime I get there, their drive thru has a line. So me and my boyfriend went inside and told the host stand we had an order that's ready for pickup and we showed them the DoorDash instructions telling us to "skip the line" and telling them there was a line outside. The first time we did this the hosts were really pushy and just kept telling us to go wait in the long ass Togo line until one girl finally just told us to follow her and she would go grab our order. This time when we did that they kept telling us the same thing, then one of them had us follow her inside the Togo room and she left us in there to awkwardly wait for the employee at the Togo window to stop talking to the customer at the window about college and video games. Finally he noticed us but still proceeded to talk to the other customer about off topic things. Another employee came in there and told us the same thing the hosts did until I showed them the DoorDash instructions. Then the kid who was supposedly named after a video game who was working at the window told us "you're all skipping the line together" which makes no sense. Finally the other worker apologized and handed us our order. Needless to say I will never be ordering Togo from here again. I will still go inside to eat because usually in there we do not have any trouble with the service however this one server named Erica was a bitch. When our order came out they gave me refried beans when I had ordered black beans. When I told her she said "no you ordered refried beans not black beans" and I told her I don't even like refried beans so why would I order them then and she responded with "ok I'll get you some black beans even though you ordered refried beans". Honestly some of the worst service I have ever had. I work at one of the busiest restaurants in town and we get yelled at if we talked to one of the guests that way. Respectfully Erica should not be working in the customer service industry if she can't handle the customer is always right policy and can't keep herself from talking back to them. A lot of the employees here need to seriously work on their customer service skills just saying because the service I've gotten here has been some of the worst service I've received anywhere. Now I understand why they get onto us so much about being friendly to the guests at the restaurant I work at. read more

I thought this was a great place. We were driving home to Houston and were happy to find a place that we could eat with our dogs. THANK YOU for having a pet friendly patio!!! After reading reviews I braced myself for a below average meal. (Man some reviewers are very nit picky) I was pleased that my avocado enchiladas were super yummy and fresh. The sauce was a bit bland but the salsa fixed that. And I couldn't get over the huge fresh chunks in f avocado. Everyone enjoyed their meal too. We had an awesome waiter. The food was okay. I liked the queso, cilantro rice, and tortillas. I didn't like the flavor of the beef, but that's just personal preference. Our waiter was pretty good. I accidentally spilled my tea all over the table and my spouse. One of the waitresses with short blonde/brown hair looked over at the tea spilled on the table and my spouse. She carried on her merry way to get the credit card of another table without even offering to get napkins. The hostess was super nice as well. read more

This is a great place to go if you want drinks and awesome appetizers but i wouldn't recommend getting entrees. It was agreed at our table of four that the food was bland and lacked luster.
