The primary reason why I have a membership is because of the pool and the Jacuzzi. The weight training floor is in satisfactory condition most of the time however, we have problems with the Jacuzzi! And they be becoming more and more frequent! The problems are not being addressed... The better part of February and March it has been closed down several times, the reasons are never clear when provided by the staff. The whirlpool has basically one good jet that really gives you a lot of relief where it counts. The rest of the jets are basically bubbles coming out of the wall water under pressure, it's not the kind of pressure you need after a good workout. There are other places like the YMCA & others, which have better facilities, newer equipment we have choices. Please do something with the system you have existing at LA fitness in Goodyear. read more

I generally like this LA Fitness location, but they really struggle when it comes to fixing broken or worn-out items in a timely manner. The sauna room door has been dragging and difficult to open and close for at least 6 months now. I've mentioned it multiple times, but nobody seems too concerned about it. Right now it's more of an annoyance, but if it continues to get worse, it could easily become a safety issue. At that point the sauna will probably have to be shut down completely for repairs that could have been handled much earlier. The gym itself is decent, but management needs to be more proactive about maintenance before small issues turn into bigger problems. read more

This gym is terrible. The staff is rude, unhelpful, and made us feel uncomfortable the entire time. We were told we had to use their trainer. When we declined, staff constantly hovered over us and falsely accused us of using an outside trainer when we were just working out together. It got to the point where two employees stood over us while we were exercising, staring us down, and then told us we were being kicked out. The environment felt hostile every single visit. When we tried to address it, the VP on-site was useless she gave us a corporate number that didn't even work and refused to provide basic information like the trainers name that was harassing us. this morning I had endure rapp music played in the locker room area at a level that was well past reasonable levels with the F word and N word in the lyrics TOTALLY offensive and inconsiderate of others around. When I asked politely to please turn the music down in shower area I was threatened. The locker room is FILTHY. It is disgusting to change clothes in there; I wouldn't consider showering. There is a perpetual grime all over the floors, and the same water/sweat spots are never wiped up. The gym area is a little better, but the cleaning staff needs to vacuum under the machines, and mop the floor. I never see the cleaning staff working; sure, they move around, but they do not work to make the gym clean. I will be cancelling my membership and moving on to a cleaner gym. NEGLECT, NEGLECT, NEGLECT. Very disappointed with the LA Fitness corporation. The management and staff are very courteous and professional. There seems to be a methodical plan to recruit members. But I question if they are interested in retaining long term customers. First- The cardio equipment is old and wore out. I have on more than one occasion requested service on several treadmills because the belts slipped. This is no good for my back injury. Second- The weight machines are wore out too and (see attached pics) the attached pics convey that some of the equipment needs to be replaced. It should be noted that, to date, the management has not addressed the issue of wore out equipment for months now. I live on the other side of Town now, and I've told them that twice now, but they will not stop calling me offering incentives for me to return. I have 7 voicemails in the past 10 days. I've been called three times today offering me incentives to come back. It's bordering on harassment at this point. I refuse to give this place any stars, But I need to give them a star to post this. I was invited to come over to this place. I wanted a place that I and my company could work out and release the tensions that came with their jobs. I run a busy Film Production Company. when I arrived there no one greeted me for a while. then a man came over from a corner desk. asked if I was a member?? (If I was I wouldn't be there standing around doing nothing...) I said no. I was there to see the manager, he was going to give me a tour of the place. This man looked up at me and said do you want to join, I said I wanted to look around and then make up my mind later I was looking for a place that I could offer my employees as a benefit. I don't think that he heard me, I think he was only there to make a sale being I was a Female, but since he didn't listen to me he did not know that I was the CEO, I deal Differently then most other women, I do not like being pushed into a contract, for something that I do not even know if I want. I had lost 90lbs from the end of December until the first of may, I am a runner preparing for the 10k next year I wanted to lose 60+ lbs before that, he started to belittle me, I guess that must have worked with other women before me, but I do not let any men belittle me, He asked very personal questions, and that was starting to get to me. He kept telling me that I was on a plateau, I told him that everyone hits those, its normal, he kept telling me that I needed them to tell me what I needed to do (HEH) I pay my nutritionist for her professional suggestions, and I have a professional trainer helping me, to reach my goals. He told me that I needed them to lose the rest of my weight, I told him that I didn't, that I knew what to do that I have done so before... he kept on taunting me telling that I would never lose the weight that I wanted ( just Watch Me, I was a Model I know what I can do), don't need a pushy sales man telling me what I don't know ( I graduated from MIT and have 5 degrees). I told him that I did not want to sign their contract that I wanted to see what they had before I signed anything. he told me that why would I want to look around what is that going to do for me. I stopped looked at him, told him I didn't want to sign his contract, I wasn't feeling too comfortable with him and just wanted to get out of there. I looked at him to give him the chance to apologize or at least say something, all that he did was through up his hands, and I got up and left... They just lost my company for their business... Called the corporate office to cancel my membership and told I have to contact the local club. Call the local club and told I have to come in person to speak to the manager to cancel. I said, I have not been in there in a year (been paying the whole time) and I'm not coming in there to cancel. Cancel it now. Nope, have to come in and speak to the manager in person during the week between 9-5. I work out of the area and am not available M-F between 9-5. I HATE businesses that hold you hostage and will never support this POS place again. I guess I keep paying these crooks until I can take vacation and make it in to see the manager at his convenience. This gym is nice. Usually not overcrowded and they have everything you could want at a gym. They have a pool, basketball court, stationary bike room for group instruction, another group instrucion room used for yoga and aerobics classes, a daycare center for kids and a dry sauna with showers and a nice locker room. The membership fees are very reasonable as well. read more

I have been going to this gym for a while because it is the closest gym that meets my needs. The good is that the current general manager is the best I have seen there. She replaced the worst (Steve). There are a couple of personal trainers who are pretty good, I have achieved some good results with Don and would recommend him without reservation. For a while the pool burned my eyes, but in mid December they drained it and refilled it (new general manager), so now it doesn't burn my eyes. They add new equipment here and there. They need to get rid of a couple of the goober machines and add another low row or two, a lat pull down and a cable station. Those are the stations I am always waiting for. The place is clean and well maintained. That is my greatest complaint. The cleaning crew is ALWAYS there, vacuuming by the machine you want to use, washing the windows and trim of the courts and yoga studio, dusting the machines you want to use. They always seem to be underfoot. I wish they could do their cleaning and maintenance in the off hours. I guess this is a corporate decision. This is half a star ding. Another half star ding is that the gym is warm. I don't know if the temp s controlled in CA, or if they are not allowed to put the thermostat any lower than 72, but it is uncomfortably warm from about June through October. It needs about 5 or 6 big ceiling fans to stir the air, especially around the cardio equipment or drop the temp to about 65. The story is that corporate says no. I wish they opened earlier on Saturday. I would workout at 6:30 am on Saturday but it doesn't open till 8:00, which is too late for my work schedule. None of my complaints are enough to make me stop coming, but I do wish LA Fitness would address these issues. read more

I've been a member here for a while and I'm increasingly more frustrated. But after showing up to find it closed for remodeling for the next 10 days I had to update my review. They couldn't send an email? Many people showed up expecting to work out only to be turned away. That can really screw up your training routine. It's more crowded than it used to be and the hours are still terrible. I now understand what people are saying about some of the staff not being very friendly. They did at least add WiFi, which is nice. They better step up their game, though. Some competitors are opening up in the area... did someone say open 24 hrs and $10 a month? Being that we are senior citizens we were surprised how patient and helpful he was and the time he took to get us a plan for our goals. He focused on us as individuals and exactly what we each need, not a one size fits all approach as we have experienced at other gyms. I am not normally a fan of public gyms, being that I come from an athletic background where lifting weights and exercise is not really for aesthetics and attention. So I get a bit irritated when going to public gyms, as they do not carry certain pieces of equipment, or have adequate amount of squat racks. This LA Fitness is not like that. This location caters to the wants of their members in the sense of having a more performance based setup. The layout of the floor is great and the platform station has made me more at home. The upgraded renovation has elevated my opinion of the club. Well done. read more

I have been to many gyms. This has got to be one of the worst places to work. Every time I go in, the front desk staff always seem so unhappy . No smiles, no good morning. They make me feel as if I'm disrupting their slumber. They make me want to stay home and watch the Food Channel. Then, the operations manager, I don't really know what that title means at this gym cause he sits in front of the computer with a frown on his face and his frown gets bigger when you ask for help. One thing I have to acknowledge is that the trainers will sometimes tend the front desk and they do a good job at keeping it positive. I am giving four stars because I've gotten pretty much everything I signed up for, but there have been nights when I wish it was open just a little later. It's in a convenient location to where I live in the West Valley and is never too busy to where I can't get a machine - and if so, it's a short wait. I like the gym, the classes and the equipment. I am not happy with the salesmen or manager. Someone called me to come in for a fitness examination. I didn't think I really needed one as I just came from CA where I belonged to a gym and already had an assessment. He talked me into coming in and to make a long story short, he belittled me by telling me I had the worst BMI he had ever seen and that I could get osteoporosis or diabetes. My doctor told me I have a perfect weight and excellent health. I was very pressured into buying a membership with a trainer and now don't want it as all I do with her is workout on equipment I already use when I come in. I am going to stop payments on all future charges. My trainer was wonderful but I just don't need her!!! read more

Gym was nice. Cleaning staff not very conscientious. I froze my membership over the summer and ended up not coming back in the fall and they did not cancel my membership like they said they would in October when I called (after being billed for a startup or "unfreeze" fee) . They continued to charge my account for 5 months. The final time I called I was told : 1. They could not cancel my membership unless I walked in to their store. 2. Then I was told that I could not do it over the phone anywhere. 3. Then I was told he could not let me speak to a manager because there was NOT one at that location. 4. Then I was told there is no corporate number to call. 5. Then I was told I could go to the Avondale location and there might be a manager there. I finally looked up another location myself and talked with Jamie. She was very helpful and took care of everything. I still believe that everyone in the Goodyear location needs to be fired and they need to do a better job of training their personnel. read more

This is not a bad gym nor is it in a bad area. So props on that... My id we signed up yesterday. We were supposed to have a personal trainer show us what we need cause me and my mom are both larger. And the appointment was at 10. The guy said 10 minutes he is finishing up with someone that .. Its now 12:14pm and he has yet to come back to us to show us what to do. Now he is helping some other woman... So my issue is if you're going to offer a personal trainer. Try to have them actually help us with our problem areas. Rather than just ignoring us all together. Awesome gym!! Matt and Travis are great!! They helped my son with asbergers to incorporate a new workout regimen and diet. They were very thorough and informative while working with him. My family and I had fun talking with them. The facility is clean, organized and well maintained. I observed no "out of order" equipment as well. read more

Don't join unless you plan on staying with this gym FOREVER. Trying to cancel your membership is more difficult than achieving world peace. I specifically joined because they have a lap pool but the chlorine is so ridiculously high, it makes me sick. I advised the front desk and was told it's monitored and kept at a safe level. Silly me. I guess it's normal to find it difficult to breathe in the pool area due to the overwhelming chlorine smell. It's also normal to be unable to open your eyes under water for fear of them burning out of your skull. And, it's pretty normal to be sick after being in the pool... I think I'll just stick to my DVD's for now. I've made more progress toward my fitness goal in my living room than I ever did at this gym anyway. :/ read more

Worst customer service reps I have ever dealt with. They're rude on the phone and on site. About to terminate my membership with them.

The employees are very rude. Every time I ask for help w/ machines they act like I should already know how to use everything. Whenever I ask questions they act as if I am bothering them. They argue w/ their customers. One time I gave my membership card to man at front desk and he threw it back at me. I asked for the manager to speak to the employee who threw the card at me and turns out he WAS the manager! I'm going to be contacting corporate and suggest anyone who has a membership here or planning on getting one do the same. read more

I really don't like to do more than two reviews of any given place, but I feel like I should. I went here yesterday (and a few times last week) and I'm not sure what their problem is, but they are incredibly pushy! The last few times I went (which ultimately made me decide to tell/warn people), I have handed over my key card thing they scan and usually hand back. Well, the person handling it holds the card (with all my keys attached) and asks me if I'm interested in this, or that (yesterday it was an assessment with a personal trainer). The time before yesterday, one of the guys got me to fill out information on my boyfriend to call him to let him know about the gym. I was under the impression I was going to be given a two week pass to bring home to him, but nope. Each time I come here, I've set aside half an hour to 45minutes to get in a work out. I'd rather be left alone then hassled (they don't like when you tell them "no" and keep pushing the issue). I've had the same guy at the L.A. Fitness on Rancho Sante Fe be annoyingly pushy, "What're you gonna be doing today?" "Are you sure you don't want to speak with a trainer?" But this place is ridiculous! I almost hate going to the gym for totally different reasons than I always leave sweaty and hate the duration of my 35minutes of cardio. This is a 1 and a half star which comes from the place being brand new and having new equipment. Oh, and its closer to my house than the other LA Fitness. read more

I had a really bad experience at another gym in town so I was hesitant to join another gym. But with the summer temperatures I didn't want to work out outside and this gym is close to my house. They gym itself is a nice facility and includes a pool and hot tub as well as dry saunas. The only thing I would say is unless you are interested in signing up for personal training skip the complimentary fitness intro because all they do is a hard sell on personal training. The front desk staff can be a little grumpy at times that's why I only gave 3 stars. read more
