My sister paid about 87 dollars for a cake that was supposed to be a beautiful cake for my daughter's 14th birthday. Since moving to Virginia from SoCal, I've looked for good Mexican bakeries. So far all the bakeries I've found are Central American (love Central American pan dulce but not what I'm looking for) This one looked promising. We went in early on a Saturday, figured bread would be nice in hot. It's a small place with a restaurant attached and it was pretty full. I took that as a good sign. You pick up a tray and select the bread you want with tongs. I was delighted to see conchas there and different Mexican bread. However, I noticed all the bread was a little hard but because I picked them with tongs, I figured they were OK. The fresh bread was left sitting outside the enclosed area. I picked some bread from the outside and inside sections and paid. Cashiers were a little rude. No eye contact, just pack your stuff in a bag and go. I went home and tasted the bread. Not good at all. Kind of hard, the frosting of the concha just crackled off. I tried other pan and it was just as hard. Tasted bland. So disappointed. I had a Tres leches cake from here at a birthday party and it was full of flavor perfectly moist throughout the whole cake. I came back a to buy some bread and honestly it was soft and not dry like most places that I've been to in that area. I had chorizio & pork tacos and Salsa Verde Tamale. The only thing they put on the tacos was cilantro. Average at best. You get two little cups of salsa, one red and one green. Just not very good flavor. The tamale was good. It was nice and hot and had good flavor chicken & salsa verde. This place is also a bakery and they seem to have a very big election. La Flor De Puebla did not disappoint with their Tortas Cubanas. They have seven types of meat in them that really brings the flavor out of it. This place is not your ordinary authentic mexican food this place has a variety of dishes and pastries that are well recognized from the state of Puebla. I say this because I am from Puebla, so to find a place that brings some nostalgia from back home is definitely a diamond of a find. The lady's that work there are very knowledgeable with their spot on with ingredients that they use. Now they all speak Spanish so their service is astounding because we are able to communicate perfectly and not just leave a bad review due to a language barrier. This place has a great atmosphere like many Mexican restaurant but here you are able to watch as they cook your food rather then having the cooks in a back room. Unfortunately today will be our last day the service was horrible. The lady asked us how many "fresh bread" and hubby said 20 please. The lady open a container with bread supposedly it was made today, when husband asked him can we have the one from the fresh batch? Lady turns and says "NO" It was 2 steps behind her to get 20 fresh bread but instead she continue to ignore our request that we wanted the fresh bread. She completely ignored us and basically rushed us. Just came from a wedding and I actually went with the her (the bride- to-be) to the bakery prior to order the cake--- what was ordered was a plain white three layered cake with pearls on each layer--- we wanted to decorate with fresh roses ourselves. At the consultation they claimed they don't work with fondant and that we would have the top cake chocolate (request from the bride) with the bottom two layers vanilla. They asked if we wanted icing flowers, they were told NO. Early AM day of wedding a call claiming that their chocolate flour did not come in on time and that they would use white! Irritating but able to move forward. Cake gets there and well you can see for urself (pics attached). Nottttt what was ordered!! Icing flowers everywhere! And red fondant petals all which appeared to be leaking! Wtf!!!!! Horrible! Horrrrible! Don't come here! Don't waste your money! They will ruin your day! My poor sisters wedding was nearly ruined! Your wedding cake should be a beautiful ohh and ahh moment--- it was a ---- yikes! Wtf! Moment!!!!!!! Run far and fast away from this place! This is not an American bakery, but is a pretty decent panaderia. We like the marranitos, conchas, and buenuelos. This place used to be very good and we loved their tres leches cake. I dont know what happened this time but we ordered a tres leches cake for my daughter's birthday and specifically asked for it to be bien mojado (really moist) because that's how she likes the cake. It didn't have any moisture when we cut into it. It didn't taste or appear to have any leche because it was super dry as a regular cake. The writing on the cake was horrible as well. For a bakery place you would think they could get someone who can write a simple "Happy birthday" on the cake. For the amount of cake you get and the price you pay (almost $40) was definitely not worth what we got. I tried calling to speak with a manager but all I got was to be placed on hold for 15 to 20 minutes with noise in the background of the employees clowning around and making jokes. My wife and I came here with a hankerin' for sweets. We grabbed 4 pastries and a small loaf of bread. The pastries were excellent. The bread was fluffy and tasted great, but I'll have to get it when its fresher. We paid just over $5. They cakes looked amazing as well and I've heard great things by word of mouth. Need to try these some time. Great cakes for any parties. They have balloons and pinatas for kids parties. Didn't get any of the food. Will have to next time. This place started out as a bakery. Then it expanded into a full service restaurant. It still offers a complete bakery service. Upon entering one can request a table to sit down for a meal or go to the bakery section. A variety of delicious desserts are ready and available on the spot: cakes, bread, pastries, cookies and flan. Cakes to order and large orders for parties and gatherings are also provided. I became acquainted with this place when a friend ordered their wedding cake from this place. They said without a doubt it was the best cake they had ever eaten in their life. The only downside is that after the wedding there wasn't nary a crumb of wedding cake left over. The restaurant items are Mexican. The surrounding community has a diverse populace that includes many people from Central America. Most restaurants of this type offer both Mexican and Salvadoran cuisine. But not Flor de la Puebla. Their menu seems to be strictly Mexican which is ok. I've never dined there so I can't comment on the food, but I can say that a lot of people like it. The star is for the friendly lady who took our order. That, and I can't give 0 stars. We drove through Manassas on our way to Suffolk from DC. We passed all the fast food places in hopes that something might appear. We were hoping to find some decent breakfast. We drove past this place and our GPS said there was nothing else for a long time, so we turned around and went back. As we entered, it was like going back to 1992. The decor, the layout, the design, the smell...It's like a bakery/market/truck stop. There was no clear way to order. The friendly woman behind the counter didn't seem sure what she should with us. She was very patient as we tried to coax our 7 year old to order in Spanish instead of English. We ordered and closed out the first check ten minutes before our child stopped refusing to order tamales. Her tamales came. They were okay as far as tamales go. We go to a Spanish Immersion elementary and are exposed to a lot of authentic Latino food. We also got a couple of pastries---which were old and stale. Everyone at the table sampled and tasted the tamales and pastries--for 25 more minutes before our omelette and enchiladas finally came. Ham and cheese omelette was filled with one inch squares of Buddig ham. The egg was overcooked (reasonable since it took at least half an hour to prepare!). My husband said his enchiladas were okay. The best part was when we went out the door, we saw the 25 cent candy machine filled with candy that was probably 3+ years old. How on earth do you walk past that machine filled with disgusting old, discolored, melted-and-cooled-again Skittles every day--and not clean it out!? Skip this place. I had a party and ordered 25 torta bread buns the day before . I was provided with the total and they took my info . I went to pick up my order and oh surprise ...they didn't have it . The first time it was a similar story but they just couldn't find it . They are not reliable and I will NEVER go back there ever !!! I've been looking for a bakery in Prince William for years and I think I've found it!!! My husband always gets his "pan dulce" from here and it's all been very fresh and tastes good so I decided to try the cakes. The cake was delicious!!! Moist, fresh fruit and neatly decorated. Now keep in mind this is your traditional Hispanic cake. With light whip cream like "frosting", strawberries in the middle and fruits decorating the top. You can also have nuts on the sides as decorations but we opted out. There is no character decorating, or fondant or too many choices when it come to the cakes. They do offer various sizes. This place morphed itself from a bakery to a restaurant. I had ordered a wedding cake from them and hadn't been there for a long time. The cake was excellent so I decided to try the restaurant. The fare is Mexican and it is usually quite good. But you can still get delicious baked goods there. Breads, cakes, cookies, assorted pastries haven't suffered since they have broadened their scope. The service was friendly and the food was alot better, after recently moving to the new location i have noticed after going for many years that the food quality is decreasing. today I went in for some bread and once I was done I walked to the register where the lady working it was actually sweeping when she saw me but yet continued until she decided to help me. She was surprisingly rude as normally you would greet someone though she did not and looked very offended that I was bothering her by trying to buy bread as to when I greeted her since she wasn't saying a word she replied back with an attitude and then told me my total which was under $10 so then she continued to give me an attitude when I tried to pay with my card informing me that I needed to spend at least $10 to pay with my card so then I took a second to think about what I could try to buy to raise the price when she rolled her eyes and tapped the sign near the register saying the minimum with a mug on her face after that i just walked out. It's about to be 2019 yet they're in the 1900's expecting everyone to carry cash. honestly i would not have been as upset if they had it posted on the door and the service wasn't absolute trash. If you want good food and friendly service go about two doors down to el rulas tacos where i actually decided to eat instead. going for the first time I was very happy to have received a very welcoming experience.
