Went here with the family and everyone got something different. Barilla de Chivo was decent but not worth the high price. The pollo asada was mostly rice and beans with the chicken tasting like rotisserie. The steak burrito was also mostly rice and beans, with the steak being VERY gristly. The gorditas were pretty solid. Very enjoyable. The prices were just too high for the quality of food you get. Unfortunate. If the prices were more reasonable I'd bump it up to 3.5. Also, really expected to see a salsa bar. read more

While I use to be a fan of this restaurant I now feel it has some very out of whack pricing issues. I recently placed an order to go and used the "order online" the restaurant prefers you to use. It directed me to an app. (ugg) where I placed my order to find my beloved sopa was going to cost $8. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This item should be $4.50-$5. The app dictates other wise as they need to take an exorbitant pound of flesh. All the normal items I use to enjoy seemed likewise, grossly over prices. I blame La Frontera for this issue and won't be patronizing them further. If you place an order call the restaurant directly circumventing the greedy app pricing. DO NOT USE THE APP TO PLACE AN ORDER TO GO UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY A HEAVY USER TAX. Call the restaurant directly. One of the beauties of this style Mexican food is that it's inexpensive so unless La Frontera is using top of the line chicken, beef and pork or paying their employees an above average wage all which I doubt I see no reason for a $8 sopa or gordita. Holy cow! Or is it holy goat(haha)? This tiny Mexican restaurant is amazing! La Frontera was recommended to me by a guy who did some work on our house a year ago. I remember him saying this is the only place that serves the best menudo in the Bend/Redmond area. Well, their menudo was good but not the best I have had. The tripe was tender and there was so much of it! Not knowing how big the burritos are, we decided to get 2 carne asada burritos also. They were HUGE and heavy and delicious! A burrito can easily feed 2 people. Feeling adventurous, we impulsively got some Birria de Chivo as well. Boy oh boy! I'm glad we did. It was better than menudo. First time trying it and I am definitely hooked. The goat meat was falling off the bone and the soup was just yummy. Both the menudo and Birria came with corn tortilla. Their salsas were pretty good too. If you like it spicy, the red one is very spicy. I called in our order and it was ready for pick up when we got there. The lady that helped us was really nice and patient too. Huge servings, good prices. We will be back! read more

They have tacos, quesadillas, huaraches, sopes, tacos dorados, and more. Trust me it was hard narrowing down what to order. Looked like they had take home fam meal too written in Spanish on the wall. -tacos: I enjoyed their handmade tortillas, meats (carne asada, carnitas and pastor). Only thing was there were a few pieces of fat in pastor. The meats were seasoned perfectly and cooked just as I prefer-some crispness to the carnitas, little seared pastor and carne asada. -The huarache was delightful and came with two. It was tender yet held the ingredients on top. Soft, tender huarache patty. -quesadillas: never had one like this. It's fried And yummy filled w meat and cheese. Drizzled w crema, topped with lettuce, tomato and cheese. -The potato filled tacos were pretty good- the filling could use little more flavor but The salsa helps. -thought the refried beans were alright, and same thought on the rice. -Pambazo: torta dunked in red sauce. Tasty. *PASS on this: burrito. 1.5/5* Tried this and it may not be popular bc the tortilla was hard on the edges.. and full of rice.. for about $11, def not worth it. Just rice, beans, meat.. (not even sour cream, guac or cheese for that). Salsa: two only but they had great flavor. The red is pretty hot. *Gripe: they've mixed up meat on some items each time I've been here.. Great authentic fast delicious and casual would be the words I use to describe La Frontera. The meats were really tasty; I had adobada and asada. The tacos themselves were bigger than I expected. I ate four and I was definitely full! 3 would have been plenty and I'm a big guy. The tortillas were made in house they were soft and warm but with enough substance to not fall apart when exposed to the lime juice, salsas and meats. I would like to give this place 4.5 stars but yelp doesn't allow that. Very good but not a perfect 5 for me. read more

Delicious and authentic Mexican food and several dishes that you can not get anywhere else in Central Oregon like pambazo. The bistec was a little grisly and not the best but there are so many other great options. There quesadillas are fried, more like an empanada than the standard grilled tortilla with some cheese you get most places, they are amazing! The al pastor quesadilla is my favorite dish. There is a review about Americans getting served last and I have been there many times and never had that issue and I am a ginger with freckles and all. The service was always friendly and helpful. I do not know that they have an English speaker there all of the time so sometimes I just smile and know that whatever they bring me will likely be delicious. If you don't speak Spanish and have food allergies, are picky, or want a bunch of substitution you may be much happier with a less authentic Mexican restaurant, Taco Bell is just down the street. read more

Came here for lunch after flying into Redmond Airport, based on the yelp reviews. This place was EXCELLENT. It smelled soo good as soon as we entered. Ordered the chicken quesadillas, asada gorditas, carnitas plate, huaraches al pastor, and a carnitas torta. Portions where HUGE and everything was delicious. I thought i had posted a review a while back, but it wasn't up. La frontera is the real deal. Great choices and lots of them. Authentic taste and everything I have ordered hasn't disappointed. It is my primary choice when deciding on Mexican food. Only gripe, more than once I haven't gotten the wrong meat I asked for and that makes for a bummer when I live so far away. And that was the bummer on the last dinner pack I ordered. I will make sure I order there instead of calling it in. Great carnitas and yummy chichirones. Always smiles from the senoras in the back. We're new the area and have searched high and low for good burritos. Our search was complete once we found La Frontera! The staff are helpful and kind. The menu is authentic and extensive. Most authentic Mexican restaurant I've been too. More authentic than anything in Mexico. If you didn't know you were in Bend, you'd think you were in Cabo itself. From the upholstery to the music to the six women rolling masa out for the tamales, it's super legit. The people are really friendly as well. I would say it's almost too authentic for me. I found this place through Yelp as I was passing through. What a score. I was the only cracker there for the entire hour and the place was jumping. All the sauces were on the spicy side which I loved. They serve free chips alongside free different sauces - fyi, they're HOT We've ordered a dish of Gorditas. It comes with three very voluptuous gorditas filled with goodness of your choice, for $9.99. Another dish was 3 fried oil casadia pieces, once again, big dish topped with salad on it. Burrito filled with all the regular ingredients plus your choice of meat for $6.99. I've been in central Oregon since 2007 and I was just told a bout this place recently. I went last night and loved it. The vibe was super authentic and the food was fantastic. I went late on a Saturday shortly before closing so I missed out on the carnitas. I had asada enchiladas and they were great. I love Mexican food and this place definitely Takes the crown in Redmond. An excellent Mexican restaurant with an impressive assortment of dishes. I had the birria de chivo, which is one of my favorite Mexican dishes, it is a goat stew. Add a bit of hot sauce, squeeze some lime, dip a rolled up tortilla into it, and you're good to go. Some of the most tender goat meat that you'll come across. I've only found two other restaurants in the US that have it, one in Michigan and one in California. While not my favorite birria, it was still quite good, and I was happy to have it. Other items on the menu included calde de res, tacos, burritos, sopas, full breakfast menu, and a ton more. Reasonable prices, they take credit cards, there's a parking lot. Pretty tasty standards......had chicken burrito, chicken enchiladas, and asada taco plate. Chips and salsa bar are free......and have some great standard sauces, and a few fast fresh veggie salsa/salads. The chips are house made.....as are the tortillas! All were awesome. My kids devoured theirs before I could snap a pic, pronouncing it "good stuff!" My asada Taco plate......having the aforementioned homemade tortillas, was really good too. The beans, as mentioned above, are worth the trip alone. LOVED those! The tacos are also about double the size of you average street Taco.......so don't get nutty about ordering too many! Topped with a real-sugar Coke......it was about perfect. Family fed for less than $30......with dessert. Can't be beat. I don't remember styrofoam being an ingredient in carnitas. They are always busy maybe people know something I do not.

We love this little restaurant. If you don't speak Spanish, ask for a menu. Otherwise, you will have to order from the picture based menu on the walls with Spanish descriptions. I ordered cheese enchiladas and W ordered carnita enchiladas. The three corn tortillas were smothered with lettuce, cheese, tomatoes and a wonderful creamy sauce. The salsa bar offers everything from salsas to pickled okra and slaw. There is also a grocery in the back of the restaurant. read more
