Been coming here for over 20 years now, but it looks like the management has changed recently. The knafa is flaky and has no taste. The zaatar croissant were soggy and stale - the zaatar itself tasted different and "light" come on it is Zaatar! But the most important thing to me is the service!! Just wow.. The older gentleman with no hair - has an attitude. We came in, ordered, sat outside .. He got upset because I left the door open, and then he got really upset because I grabbed a napkin. His words were: we gave you enough. I said well charge me for it, he replied: we don't like people grabbing napkins on their own!!! What on earth is this? Last time here. Thanks to the A-frame sign on the sidewalk, I never would have noticed this small bakery. This small, family-owned business was very inviting, with freshly baked bread filling the air. During my visit, I met the owner and his son, who were both very friendly and welcoming. The real stars of my visit were the pastries, breads, and desserts. Wow!! Every single item in the display cases looks AMAZING! I had no intention of walking out with more than a cookie and a bottle of water. I couldn't help myself and walked out with four different types of croissants, two baguettes, and eight other types of bread and pastries. I can honestly say that the cheese and jalapeno croissant I had was one of the best I had ever eaten. I had another pastry while I was there with the same results. You know when wanting a quick bite this place is great. I grabbed a salad which was so good I forgot to take a photo. I also grabbed two almond croissants. Everything was great and was easily shareable too. The service was very nice. You can tell the owners really appreciate their customers. I got a little pit of everything, eclairs, rum ball, cannoli, pistachio cake and some other miscellaneous pieces. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. Was beyond stale. This was not one day old, they were several days old. The crème had created a yellow film on the cakes, the "custard" in the eclairs were coagulated, the chocolate filing in the cannolis tasted like a stinky fridge that hasn't been cleaned out in years. The 3 kunefe I also got had undercooked dough/bread and the semolina on the inside was burnt. And the chocolate almond tart was rock solid. I walk by regularly and always see the menu on an A-frame sign outside. So I walked in and asked the gentleman behind the counter if I could get the chicken pesto sandwich. He simply said "No". I looked at him for a second, waiting for a friendly "just kidding", but then he proceeds to tell me they don't make sandwiches on weekends because that's when they focus on their pastries. All I can say is wow this place is so comfy and cozy. Came here a couple times this week so I could find some of the best éclairs and after yesterday's experience I'm hooked for life. I was a little sad as I came on Tuesday and they didn't have éclairs but it makes sense you don't want to rush good things so they told me to stop by Wednesday morning or noon I forget and they would be making a batch. They delivered and it was a home run éclairs should have a little crunch only to be elevated by the custard which makes the inside so nice and soft. Huge bonus it's original vanilla custard not that nasty whipped cream they put at other places. For the quality of the product I'm surprised of how cheap this place is compared to other shops. The staff was very friendly helped me pick out some sweets and even to order a beautiful fruit tart for pickup later in the day. So please do yourself a favor and support local businesses like this place they go above and beyond in expectations I was so happy to spot this place thanks to the flag they have outside.
