I've been craving to go to La Gondola since moving to Mansfield last year, I could not find the time. I finally got the opportunity, I didn't get to sit down inside like I planned however I was able order to-go. I called in an order of Calamari Fritti, Linguine Shrimp Scampi, & Gamberi alla Parmigiana. The Calamari was completely overdone, literally Calamari chips. They were so hard and crispy I was really looking forward to having this dish. I am hoping this was just a bad batch, I am willing to try it again while eating inside. The Gamberi & Scampi was delicious!! I will be getting it again. Service was super nice and helpful when ordering over the phone. I will be back & willing to give the Calamari another shot. read more

This place came highly recommended and it's one of the only Italian food places in the area. The good: We really like the garlic bread. It was served warm and buttery. The service is really good. All of the servers were attentive to their tables and our guy refilled our glasses at least 5 times. The ok: The entrees. The proteins were cooked nicely but overall everything was pretty bland. We had to add salt to the dishes. If you're looking for a quick nice meal, I would suggest coming here. There's nothing really bad about this place... it just didn't wow either of us. read more

How many good things can one say about cream of mushroom soup? Not enough! The soup was shockingly good. Maybe not the most glamorous or photogenic, but for days I was still talking about the soup. I stopped in one day with a friend. We weren't planning on having dinner, it was early and we decided we had had enough work for the day. We sat at the bar, next to apparent regulars. We ordered a cocktail and the bruschetta. The bartender was friendly and the bruschetta delicious. Four big pieces of grilled bread spilling over with ripe tomatoes, fresh basil, and a bit of parmesan. Perfect. Before leaving, our neighbor at the bar recommended the mushroom soup. We both decided to have a cup. It was warm, creamy, and perfectly spiced. It is a smooth, blended soup. We were both impressed. Apparently they have about 10 soups on rotation and the mushroom is very popular. My friend was so impressed, she ordered a bowl to go. I will definitely be back to check out more of the menu. We usually eat at this restaurant once a week. However tonight was a complete disaster. Katrina was our CLUELESS waitress. Someone whom has no place working in a restaurant. It's Katrina. Ordered tea. Had to go locate someone twice to get a refill. Where was Katrina,,,,,watching TV. Had to literally beg for bread. Brought wrong order for my wife whom ordered a Italian dish with Mussels. Instead got Clams. By this time I was finished with my spaghetti. Then she finally brought wife's order. By now I was almost asleep. Now wife's order DID have Mussels. But spaghetti was so watery and NO SEASONING. UGH. Very bad experience for two hours. Bottom line,,,I made sure she got the appropriate Tip. Still watching TV. read more

The Haddock was cooked to perfection !! and even the left overs were fantastic today re-heated.. The garlic/lemon sauce with capers drifted into the small roasted red potatoes and they were delicious too. Sautéed veggies and a great fresh salad.. It really was an exceptional meal. ( However, The 'music' at 6pm Friday April 9th left a little to be desired. Not very melodic.. Better, was the piped dinner music before the 'live' music started.) I give three stars because I've eaten here numerous times and everything was good. The last time we were party of a party of ten. We had reservations and we were seated quickly. Took an hour and a half to get our meals. Add to it the flippant attitude of the server and manager and it didn't make for a great evening. read more

I always receive great service. Main course is hot and fresh. Bread is always hot. The ambiance is always relaxing and inviting.

The steak Dianne makes your taste buds scream 'I love you!!' with every bite. The Fettucini Alfredo with chicken, mushrooms and pancetta just makes you want to dive in with two forks and devour the rich, creamy goodness of the Alfredo and the delicate crispiness of the pancetta. My oh my, delicious!!!!! Wonderful Italian food!!!! We love their calamari and then their clams in some amazing garlic sauce for appetizers!! Their garlic bread is the best ever!!!! The bread is toasted perfectly with the most delicious garlic butter!! I have to say they have the best cream of soups I've ever had in my life!!! Cream of zucchini, cream of onion and so on!! I always get their tortellini with Alfredo because it's amazing and my husband switches it up, but has always had great food. The food is authentic and delicious. I have eaten several different entrees and I've NEVER been disappointed. It is truly Michelin star quality. The servers have always been attentive, knowledgeable of the menu and friendly. The drinks are amazing as well. I wish I could buy their house dressing in the store or in the restaurant....its that good!!!!! The only suggestion I would give is to open earlier on Sundays. read more

Overall a good experience. Took everyone's advice and made a reservation on Saturday night. Had the calamari and garlic cheese bread as appetizers. The potato soup was also very good. Everything we ate was fantastic. The salmon with red sauce was especially good. The only con is that they sat 5 of us at a table designed for 4. We made a reservation for 5. Meh, wouldn't bother going again. Very slow service (there were only 4 tables seated in the whole restaurant) and uninspired food. The mozzarella sticks were flavorless, the cream of spinach soup was okay but under-seasoned and not exciting, the Fettuccini Primavera was bland, and the Capellini al Pomodoro e Basilico was nice with plenty of garlic and basil. We were a little skeptical since the ratings weren't great, but we're so glad we gave it a try! It was a perfect place for a date night! We ordered the Mussel appetizer, which were small, but delicious! Lovely sauce to dip the bread in! The halibut and shrimp special was so delicious, served with mixed veggies! Savory, tasty, cooked to perfection; the homemade Alfredo sauce and pasta side dish was delicious. Lobster ravioli with pink sauce was good, especially enjoyed the cream of zucchini soup. Nice Italian restaurant in Mansfield. The chicken rollatini was very good. The bread that you get before your meal is so good. The only thing I didn't care for was their lack of beer selection, but they do advertise themselves as a wine bar. We will definitely be going back. read more

I had the opportunity to dine at this fine restaurant this evening, and I'm glad I did! What an unexpected pleasure! First of all, the garlic bread is wonderful. I had to stop myself from just pigging out on the stuff. I didn't want to embarrass the others in my party! I had a salad, which was very average. I would try the soup next time. But my entree was fab! I had parmesan chicken, and it was the best I've had in years. It was perfect. Flavorful! Hot! Delicious! The service was good, too. The service isn't real fast so if you are in a hurry I probably would pass on this place, but if you have friends and want to have a nice dinner and have a nice conversation, this place is excellent. I also like this place because it is not a chain restaurant, like almost all of the other restaurants in Arlington and Mansfield! I love this place! Next time I'm in town, I will be back. read more

Their food is excellent however we have had two incidents with customer service. One issue we had was we had my elderly wheelchair mother with us and had a reservation and the greeter was abrupt with us to say we should of told them we had a wheelchair. My mother was made to feel uncomfortable about this. The next issue we had was we had to wait over 1 hr for our meal and was wrong. We were told was new and not normal wait staff. Asked the day for someone to reach out to me and no one ever did. Customer service leave much to desire. read more

We've always been happy with the food here. Their red sauce is so fresh and definitely tastes like it's freshly made in house! The portion sizes are large too. The only thing I don't like is the bread that comes with our meals - soggy garlic butter on tough, chewy bread, yuck! They need to stop hiring kids to greet you at the front to get your party and seat you down. Idk if it's to cut cost and pay them minimum wage to save money but not a good idea. These girls have attitudes and are rude and snobby, know NOTHING about customer service. If that's how you want to start out your guests experience when they first come in you're doing something very wrong. We live right around the corner from this place and are fairly new but came here 4 times and it's all the same from the young hostess, rude with an attitude. This is one of those places where the locals rave about it but that's simply because none of them have made it outside of a fifty mile radius of Mansfield ever in their life. While the service was good, the entree were quite bland. We had the pollo d'osto and it was completely without flavor. The asparagus was not cooked right and the chicken was so bland. The best aspects of the meal were the bread they brought us which had garlic and butter. The bruschetta app as pretty good as well but that's hard to mess up. Called an order in for pick up. It was at the front desk when I arrived. Gave them my card to pay and waited15 min for the woman to come back with it. She said their card swiper machine was broken so it took longer. SO GET IT FIXED and advise customers before hand that they may want to pay with cash, I would have had I known. You don't make customers wait 15 min to PAY! By the time I got home my food was cool, ok, I can heat it up. The sauce on the spaghetti was barely there. Just enough to make it reddish. Skimping on sauce! There are too many other places to go to to accept poor service and skimpy food. NO THANKS!! read more

We came here on a Monday night for the first time. We got the bruschetta, fresh garlic bread, house salads, Fettuccine Alfredo and Lasagna. Everything was fabulous! The times I've gone have always been great service. This past Friday was lacking. The lady at the front barely wanted to receive us in. Her hostess on the other hand was nice. You can tell they have constant regulars which says good for a business but if you're able to tell the difference of customer service you know that's unprofessional. I moved to Mansfield 7 years ago from Upstate NY, where I grew up on Italian food - almost 7 days a week. In 7 years in Texas, I had yet to find good Italian food. I cant tell you how many times I have driven by La Gondola but never gave it a shot. My wife and I finally did last week and wow....its legitimately good Italian food in Texas. From the garlic bread to the way they make and serve "baked ziti" - yes, there is a specific "correct" way to make it - and they follow that correct way :) Reminded me of home, small and quaint - they had a piano player, good wine selection and pricing was very reasonable for the value and the atmosphere. If you live in Mansfield but grew up someplace other than Texas and can actually tell the difference between real Italian food and the balance of the garbage you can find here - give La Gondola a shot - you wont be disappointed. read more

This is a real hidden gem in Mansfield. The food was delicious especially their white sauce with brandy. We were impressed by the food. Our waitress was very nice and knowledgeable. The only complaint I have is toward the end of our meal We were just forgotten. I was really looking forward to dessert but by the time she came back we had already waited so long we decided to bypass it. Granted it was busy but they lost additional sales due to the slowness. However we will definitely go there again and hope it was just a fluke. read more
