Hot Honey Fried Shrimp, Candied Yams, Roasted Brussels sprouts

The Soft Grand Opening experience at Souffle Bistro and Bar was GREAT from the time we walked through the door until the time we left. Bebe, the General Manager, was so nice, and the customer service was top tier! I had the Hot Honey Fried Chicken with mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts. When I tell you that macaroni and cheese was delicious! The Brussels sprouts were good but a little over-charred, so I couldn't fully enjoy them. My friend tried the Hot Honey Shrimp and really enjoyed it. Overall, the food was good, the vibes were good, decor beautiful and they even surprised me with a slice of delicious birthday cake. That was such a sweet touch. From the ATL to Dallas... FlavorChaser Approved!

The noise level was extremely high...we literally had to yell just to have a conversation with each other. Service was also very slow. It took about 15 minutes just to be acknowledged at the bar, and close to 30 minutes to actually receive a drink. When I finally ordered, I told the bartender to make her favorite drink. She made something that included raw egg whites (which I later learned is common in certain cocktails), but it wasn't mentioned or explained at the time. A few hours later, I became very sick...vomiting and dealing with what felt like severe food poisoning all night and through the next 24 hours. After looking into it, I suspect it may have been related to the raw egg used in the drink. Just something to be aware of if you're ordering drinks like a whiskey sour or anything that may include egg whites. After getting our receipt (which you need for the speakeasy entry code), we checked out the speakeasy portion, but the vibe there wasn't great either..pretty must the same as the other part of the bar. We ended up leaving within about five minutes. Overall, the experience didn't live up to the hype for us....between the noise, long wait times, and how we were treated, it just wasn't enjoyable. For comparison, the bar next door, Archibald, felt much more welcoming. Maybe regulars have a different experience, but as first-time guests, we were not impressed.

The spectrum of tasty flavors in their cuisine blew us away, from the Seafood Paella, to the Beef Short Rib Empanadas, to the Crispy Pork in sambal, honey, cilantro sauce, to Gouda, mushroom, potato Croquettes. The flavors were amazing. The service was friendly, professional, and attentive. The value was impressive. The restaurant is cozy, warm, relaxing. The bar is excellent, providing generous pours of adult beverages. I can't wait to return, as there are so many dishes on the menu that I want to try. Our 2nd time at Cafe Americana and everything was great!…read more The seafood paella is a great deal - it is considered a 'side dish' on the menu lol but is plenty for 2 people as a meal. Great flavor and plenty of clams, mussels and shrimp. We also really enjoyed the crispy pork - nice little kick in the sauce and the perfect amount of marbling in the meat. The carpaccio was Texas-sized. Speaking of Texas-sized, do not skip the award-winning coconut cake. It is on the pricey side for a dessert but it easily feeds 4 and yes, it is that good! Our server, Tiffani, was outstanding. She was very attentive throughout our meal, and when the Rioja we wanted was out, she poured my wife several samples to help her decide on another bottle - we ended up w an excellent easy-drinking Paso Robles Cabernet. This place is definitely worth the trip!
