When we were there in the late morning, before the lunch crowd arrived, it was already bustling with energy. We ordered our cappuccinos and perused the merchandise while we waited for the barista to make them. Interesting knick-knacks and gifts for all. By the time we had finished our cappuccinos, there were lines of people waiting to pick up food and we noticed many people ordered their food to go. Finding a table depends on luck. Their cakes definitely deserve a 5 star the only reason I gave a 4 is because there was a mishap with the delivery. The cake we ordered was lemon with white chocolate filling. The cake was impeccable!!! I ordered the cake off a restaurants referral and was not disappointed. It was moist, flavorful and all 30 of us raves about the cake for days. The lack of 1 star was simply we almost didn't get the cake delivered on the date we ordered for. I had to call and ask where the cake was at dinner. The bakery was closed so I had to call their pizzeria. They however felt terrible and delivered the cake within 30 minutes. I highly recommend their cakes even with the snafu. This is a local for me. Tonight I came in and got the ice cream, was super excited. I asked them to try the coconut and the girl was super sweet gave it to me, she then helped another customer while I was deciding. A different girl came along and began helping me, I put my USED taste spoon back in the bucket and asked her to get the raspberry, she then proceeded to take a spoon from the same place I just put my dirty spoon in and handed me the ice cream. I didn't really clock it untill after I ate the ice cream off of the spoon. I was shocked at first I thought ok maybe I put mine in the clean one and then I read "USED" on it. Shocked. I proceeded to pay for my ice cream and sit outside and eat it and try and wrap my head around what just happened. when I paid I noticed it was around $5.16 after tax. My Apple pay came though as $6.02 (keep in mind I did NOT leave a tip). I decided to go back in and say something. I was in too much shock to have said something before. This is really disgusting and I don't share anything with my family let alone eat off of a strangers spoon. I wasn't going to go back in and say anything but the fact that they added a tip on that was shocking. I went back in and she first offered to take the tip off and then I said what happened and she asked me what i wanted and I asked for a refund. My friend brought me here on my whirlwind visit to Phoenix, crowning LGO as serving the best ice cream in the city. While I cannot vouch for best (not having tried any others), the mint chocolate chip ice cream is THE BEST mint ice cream I have ever tasted. I love the vibe and LGO fits perfect in our neighborhood but every time I go, the staff mainly the females are extremely rude, and impatient they have disrespected both my mom and wife. Also get rid of all the 50$ candles and the endless tripping hazards, it's all just over priced glorified truck stop junk. BE A CUTE CAFE with good seating with some space for when you get busy. I've been coming to LGO since my weeee Xavier after school days circa 2008 and it has always had a special charm to it. This is my go to one-stop-shop for all gift giving needs, myself included, as well as the home to the best d*mn english muffins I've ever had. Today was hands down the best experience I have had at LGO over the past ten years. From the beginning I was greeted with a kind smile and genuineness that was comforting in the wild world we live in. The kind smile belonged to a woman named Autumn (?) who recommended the Croque Madam with her exxxtra spicy signature twist and it was out of this world delicious. The addition of the peppers was the perfect combination of flavors..I feel like Pavlov's protege just thinking about it. Not only was the recommendation on point, but I had my pup child with me on the patio and Autumn went out of her way to find us and BRING the deliciousness out to our picnic table though that is not her responsibility. If that wasn't all fantastic enough, then the cutest lil thing (I believe her name was Jessica?) came over and greeted us with a big smile and asked if there was anything else we needed. She continued to check on us throughout the entire breakfast, bringing whatever was needed in no time at all. ** If I could leave more stars I would but frankly the real stars here are Autumn and Jessica ** Times are rough for all of us, and the restaurant industry especially has been stressful beyond for those working in it, but you wouldn't have known it from the affable interactions with these women. can't say it's a hidden gem because it's usually slammed unless you go first thing in the morning or right before close. it's a local place, which means if you know when to go, where to park, and how to navigate, it's SUCH a better experience. i've had most things on the menu here - breakfast, lunch and pizza. to me, the stand-outs are; -pulled chicken sandwich -tuna sandwich -crepe pancake things -breakfast burrito -their coffee is excellent i've seen a lot of reviews complaining about the staff, but i've found the staff to be overall helpful and friendly. maybe because i go so often and talk to them, but i can see how the busy pace of LGO would make much of the staff seem impersonal, especially if you go once or twice. the floor managers on staff are often quite excellent at running point guard at the very busy food pick-up area, the nexus of LGO. i've sat down here to eat, but i prefer to-go. the dining room is often too loud for me. again, unless super early or late. happy to have LGO in my neighborhood. it may be imperfect (i can do without the shopping mall atmosphere in the register/coffee bar area, kinda like a gas station tourist shop in Quartzite), but the food is quality and the staff are often welcoming. the price $$$ is a lot. it can be a sticker shock place. but you get what you pay for. i usually feel like there's solid value in my purchases. lastly, the to-go salads are genius. wish more places had such baller salads. read more

We attempt to hit LGO up whenever we are in Phoenix for an extended stay. We are obsessed with their Commuter sandwich that has lox, egg, and tomato on their incredible, made in house, English muffins. I've never had a better English muffin. You can buy a sleeve of them (I rarely do, only because i know I'll eat the entire sleeve in a week by myself!) On our most recent visit we shared some French pancakes, which were crepes with a fresh creme and syrup topped with strawberries. They were savory with the perfect amount of sweet, not over the top. I also grabbed a carrot cake to go. Yum. Reminded me of an Ina Garten recipe I've tried which includes pineapple! Attention carrot cake fans- try it! The atmosphere is always loud and bustling, but our food surprisingly doesn't ever take that long to get. And we always manage to find a table. Staff are on top of it with the table bussing. Service is friendly and patient. Atmosphere is hip and casual. The gift shop items are adorable, great place to bring out of state guests for good food and a great spot to pick up souvenirs. read more

It's funny because when I walked in today and saw the large menu signs were down, I was almost certain that they did their 5th price hike in the past year and I was correct. I really wanted to love this place but I was incredibly disappointed. I met a friend here for lunch and was surprised to see that pizza wasn't being served until 4, it was 11. We decided to stay and get something else, and since I didn't have breakfast I ordered the avocado toast. I wish I had taken a picture because it was more like avocado crouton. The teeny piece of bread was smaller than the palm of my hand! I was shocked and still hungry so I ordered a couple of eggs to help out. The eggs were good enough but I make better ones at home and was really looking forward to some avocado toast. My friend bought a premade salad which she enjoyed but I was still hungry when we left. The gal who took our order seemed bored and irritated that we were there but the rest of the employees we interacted with were very pleasant. Holy moly the Sweet Basil sorbet and the Chocolate Hazelnut cheesecake are incredible! The Sweet Basil sorbet is the perfect marriage of basil and sugar as a frozen delight. It reminded me of absinthe since it's herbal and poured over sugar cubes before it's served. And the Chocolate Cheesecake was very rich and decadent! We also ordered the Chocolate Walnut Cookie and the Red Velvet Cake but both were not memorable. The Chocolate Walnut cookie was hard on the outside but had a molten chocolate center, maybe it's for some, but not for me, I prefer an overall soft cookie. The Red Velvet did not have the distinct Red Velvet flavor which is usually comprised of cocoa powder, vinegar, and buttermilk. The flavor just tasted like a generic white cake. The building is wonderful. There's a pizzeria at one end, and at the other is the grocery store which has coffee, gelato, baked goods, among things you can buy for the home. Outside, they even have marble picnic tables in case you want to eat outside. Lovely set up. I will be back to try the pizzeria, and to order the Sweet Basil sorbet again! read more

Recommended by a friend who grew up in this area, we took her advice for breakfast. My eggs were phenomenal. I had the French style scrambled eggs served with fresh fruit. Our table also had 2 different styles of breakfast sandwich "The commuter" which were served hot and made with correct substitutions. The only suggestion I would have (no one asked, I am aware), is to offer maybe a bacon/sausage and eggs plate. I would have loved those French style eggs with some bacon or sausage. The I had the fresh squeezed orange juice. I'm a firm believer if it's the name, you try it ... The OJ was heavenly Parking is tricky. The front parking area is small and they share spaces with other businesses. There is a parking lot in the back and you can walk through the kitchen of friendly staff. I've been here so many times and once lived in walking distance, so I can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review of one of my must-go spots in Phoenix! Let's start with the home goods and wines they have here... it's dangerous. Very dangerous. You'll end up with something in your hands before you get to the counter to order your food. Their iced coffee is top notch. My favorite way to spend a Saturday morning is walking on the canal with one of these bad boys in my hand. My absolute favorite baked good here is the date oatmeal bar, and I make trips out of my way to get this as a treat. I love their breakfast items for being light, healthy (mostly) and normal portion sizes compared to so many other places nearby. I love their turkey rueben for lunch. Their pizza is to die for. Their sourdough crust recipe is outstanding, and this is one of the few times I'll break my traditional Sicilian standards and get nontraditional toppings. I love the avocado pizza, or the prosciutto / fig / arugula pizza. The LGO house red wine is also wonderful and easy to drink, not to dry but not too sweet. Most staff are friendly and helpful. Today was an oddity as I had an unfriendly cashier. She looked to have a permanent frown upon her face and she was short with me. Again, this was a random occurrence and is not the norm. Hasn't this place outgrown itself though? I literally feel like I am in everyone's way when I am a customer like everyone else because there is NO room in the area where you shop and order food. It does not have a quaint vibe at this point. It has a crowded and overwhelming vibe. This is the only reason for 4 rather than 5 stars. I would like to note, they have a separate space with tables so you can eat comfortably at the establishment. Regardless of the space issues, this is a local's MUST try!
