I really wanted to love this place but I was incredibly disappointed. I met a friend here for lunch and was surprised to see that pizza wasn't being served until 4, it was 11. We decided to stay and get something else, and since I didn't have breakfast I ordered the avocado toast. I wish I had taken a picture because it was more like avocado crouton. The teeny piece of bread was smaller than the palm of my hand! I was shocked and still hungry so I ordered a couple of eggs to help out. The eggs were good enough but I make better ones at home and was really looking forward to some avocado toast. My friend bought a premade salad which she enjoyed but I was still hungry when we left. The gal who took our order seemed bored and irritated that we were there but the rest of the employees we interacted with were very pleasant. I guess I'll try it again after 4:00 to try their pizza but make sure you don't show up with an appetite for breakfast! read more

No low-carb or low-sugar milk options. They refuse to get plain almond milk or coconut milk and thus I will no longer be coming here for my daily morning coffee. There are six coffee bars within .25 miles of LGO and they all carry both almond (unsweetened) and coconut milk. Also, they automatically add 18% to all charges right now, INCLUDING GIFT CARDS, so if you aren't paying attention when they ring you up, you are giving them free money; so UNETHICAL. My dad bought me a $100 gift card and couldn't understand why it cost him $118. Unreal to take advantage of customers like that; you should be ashamed of yourselves. This has gone from my absolute favorite neighborhood spot that I frequent every day, sometimes twice, to my least favorite. read more

LGO recipe: combine equal parts wine bar and coffee bar, add a lunch counter and an Urban Outfitters gifts and trinkets section, mix in one gelato case, stir in patio seating, garnish with a dash of hipster, and serve with a side of pizza. Toss in a couple of dogs for good measure. All jokes aside, LGO was one of the few places in Phoenix that lived up the hype. My guy and a I stopped by on our way out of town and spent a couple of hours here sampling different foods, browsing the shop area, and hanging out. Despite the confusion about ordering/seating and the massive line snaking out the door at 11AM, service was quick and everything we tried was tasty- especially the chocolate-cinnamon latte and the pistachio-cherry gelato! The salmon toast is even tinier than the $6 price would lead you to expect, and the side of potato yanks is a must- douse it with sriracha for best results. With wine, coffee, gelato, and full meals available, there's never a bad time to stop in and everyone is bound to find something they like. Recommended by a friend who grew up in this area, we took her advice for breakfast. My eggs were phenomenal. I had the French style scrambled eggs served with fresh fruit. Our table also had 2 different styles of breakfast sandwich "The commuter" which were served hot and made with correct substitutions. The only suggestion I would have (no one asked, I am aware), is to offer maybe a bacon/sausage and eggs plate. I would have loved those French style eggs with some bacon or sausage. The I had the fresh squeezed orange juice. I'm a firm believer if it's the name, you try it ... The OJ was heavenly Parking is tricky. The front parking area is small and they share spaces with other businesses. There is a parking lot in the back and you can walk through the kitchen of friendly staff. The place was packed and continuously flowing with people but the food was prompt. I unfortunately wasn't wowed by this place. It felt like any other breakfast spot, but a little more chaotic. You can order outside or you can order inside. I still don't quiet understand what happened. They boast about their English Muffins, but I didn't find them any different. Their coffee was actually pretty good, and I was told the strawberry smoothie was a banger. I got the Daybreaker and was underwhelmed. It was alright. The salsa added good flavor. They called it a tomato avocado sauce, but they literally cut a tomato into quarters and stuck it on. Same with the avacado. Didn't seem like much care was put into it. Fresh off a 3 mile hike, our crew was deservedly famished. "Wanna take em to LGO?" said one of our amazing hosts. And off we went... On the way there I asked what to expect and the group unanimously described it as a cafe/market/knick knack/bakery/coffee shop by day, with the addition of a pizza parlor at night. Alright. I was intrigued and very excited to see how this would play out. Driving up I was struck by the bright orange exterior and all of the cars pulling in and out of the parking lot. This place was bumpin' and that vibe continued inside with the music and general energy, keeping everyone's spirits high. You walk right into the knick knack and gift shop and find the line to the register. Giant chalkboard menus hang above the bakery cases, with many dishes highlighting their specialties like rotisserie meats, baked goods, English muffins and more. I settled on the Ricky Martin, a breakfast wrap with chorizo, artichoke hearts, eggs, cheese and a little iceberg lettuce and mayo to freshen it all up. I don't generally love breakfast burritos, but this one sounded so good after the hike I went for it. It tasted good, especially that spicy and salty chorizo, but I didn't love the texture of the eggs and the wrap was a little heavy for me. I added some of their roasted salsa to it and that livened it up, but all in all I would try something else next time. The items with their rotisserie chicken sounded so good but I just felt like breakfast this time through! Coffee was a great compliment to the wrap. I really appreciated the thoughtful selection they offered. The cookies in the case caught my eye, so I hit the line one more time to scoop up a massive and amazing gluten free chocolate cookie, a salted chocolate cookie, and a cookie with nuts, chocolate, and pretzels! Each one was better than the next and all were fantastic. I was able to avoid buying any other gifts but the socks were funny as hell, as were some of the other kitchen items and cookbooks they had available. I love the vibe here! I've been coming here for a couple of years now whenever I'm in town. My last visit was yesterday and before that last month. Food and drink options are great and I'm a huge fan of their baked goods. Sandwiches, salads, pizzas... lemonade, lattes and oatmeal date bars! They even have cute cactus sugar cookies! Came here to grab a cup of coffee the day after thanksgiving. They were busy as usual with a line out the door. There was a sweet gal asking if those in line wanted a menu to review while waiting. I mentioned I was looking to just get a coffee and she said there was a side bar that offered coffee orders-- a quicker option than standing in the the main/food line. I got out of line and went to the side bar only to be told by a the barista/server gal that she was all closed up and if I wanted to get a drink, I would have to go in the main line (in a bit of a smerky attitude). Now a little agitated, I got back in the main line. The same sweet gal asked me again if I wanted a menu while I waited and I told her no, I'm just getting a coffee to which she suggested that using the outside coffee bar would be a quicker option. I explained that the unpleasant worker out there told me it was all closed up. She deeply apologized, mentioned that she must have closed a bit early as she checked the time and assured me that I would be ordering shortly. Reaching the counter, I ordered a small almond milk latte, paid and went to the waiting area. Many people that were behind me in line started to received their drinks so, I asked the barista if she saw my order coming soon. She was also unpleasant with her answer saying, "I will call your name when your order is ready" I explained to her that many people behind me in line already got their drinks and I wanted to make sure my drink was in the queue-- just my luck, somehow my drink order was nowhere to be found so, she asked me what I ordered (almond milk latte) and she made it right then. The sweet menu gal happen to be there to witness this unfortunate inconsistency and handed me a punch card and apologized for the inconveniences. I left a bit flustered and feeling like the attitude/service was not so kind AT ALL. I got in my car, took a deep breath and a sip of my drink, only to notice it was a latte with coconut milk, not almond milk--uggggh. LGO was a staple brunch spot for me when I lived in Phoenix. The egg sandwich at the grocery is what they're known for, and I also tried pretty much most of their breakfast offerings by the time I left AZ. Everything is pretty good. They also have a terrific bakery - the salted chocolate chip cookie at LGO is one of my favorite cookies in all of Arizona! It's perfectly done. The ice cream/gelato is good, and the grocery has cute offerings (if not a little overpriced for novelty goods). I hadn't tried this place until my cousin got a job here and MAN do I regret not coming earlier!! It kind of gives me Cracker Barrel vibes because of the cute Knick-knack shop in the front and then the dining area. The food is great. Lots of options for smaller stuff like baked goods and a good amount of options for salads and juices. I always get the French pancakes (aka crepes) because they are so yummy. The service is pretty good too. It's a bummer they don't bring the food to you (you have to grab it from the counter) because the place is usually always packed so it's sometimes hard to get around in there, but I don't really mind. read more

I went into this establishment this morning to get a coffee and breakfast. I walked up to the coffee bar to get rudely told to go into the back of the line, after doing so I was so flustered with the next person that tried to help me she was also terribly rude. I asked her what she liked to eat for breakfast, her response "I don't eat here". I had asked another girl in an apron why everyone was in such a terrible mood and apparently this store is going through lots of changes and losing lots of employees. They went a whole week shut down without paying any of the staff. Horrible parking, terrible customer service, and barely any room to navigate through the restaurant. Please get your place in order! Does this place not have any managers?? Honestly who ever runs the place should consider selling it to someone who knows how to run a proper establishment. I will not be returning. Seeing that my last review was in December 2007, I figure it's about time that I write a quick update! I'm still a huge fan of LGO... as a matter of fact, I'm still a regular! Mostly I go for breakfast and lunch. I've never been disappointed with my order there. My latest favorite item is the commuter sandwich on a whole wheat tortilla. I get it with egg whites and avocado and it is delicious! I love the iced tea, and I also love the fun retail items on sale at LGO. It's best to go during non-prime hours so you don't have to fight the crowds or the parking situation... I am a forever fan of LGO - I cannot get enough! read more

So I've been doing curbside basically everywhere I go these days (cooking really has lost it's appeal when you're home all day) and this place has the best curbside. The parking lot is quite small but they have multiple curbside spots ready and reserved. Instead of calling to have your order brought out, someone comes out immediately if someone pulls into one of the spots. It is really convenient Now, the food is great. I brought it on a picnic and it traveled well. I got the French pancakes and loved them. They were filling but not heavy and delicious. The price was right too! I also ordered a coffee, it is really good but it is pricy. If you're a coffee lover it is worthwhile, but if you just want caffeine and don't mind two stops then it might be worth getting something cheaper read more

I would give this place 5 stars if parking were more readily available - parking here is a nightmare which is why I don't come more often. But this review is mainly due to the fact that they have two things in their very impressive pastry case that I had to mention. There is a cherry crumble bar and a chocolate protein bar that are both gluten free and dairy free, not easy to find. They don't taste very sweet and are so good. La Grande Orange is a cool cafe/ grocery store/ coffee house/ pizzeria/ gelato bar. It's a bit overwhelming on your first visit, trying to figure out where to go for what, and it gets a bit crowded and hectic. I sort of just picked a line and lucked upon the right one. I got the Spicy Chickpea Lettuce Wraps, which you can order from the menu or pick up from their grab-and-go cold case, which is what I did. (Cuts down on wait time.) Comes with 2 large iceberg lettuce cuffs, topped with their spicy chickpeas and avocado slices. These lettuce wraps are SO yummy and perfectly spicy. Mine came with a fresh pineapple wedge; perfect for cleansing the palate. A nice, light, healthy, and filling option. There was a large dessert case, but there was only 1 vegan option: an apple pie cookie. I started to pass (I had my heart set on a cupcake), but an employee convinced me to try one. Great suggestion! It was one of the most delicious cookies that I have ever tasted. It was perfectly soft and chewy. An amazing treat! The items in the grab-n-go section are labeled with the ingredients. The parking situation is pretty insane. They do offer complimentary valet parking (which I did not want to do), and there is another spill-over lot about a block north of the building. I chose the later and walked back to the cafe. i didn't check out their groceries, pizzeria, or gelato bar, so I cannot comment on that. However, per their menu, most pizzas can be made vegan. I would certainly return to see what other vegan desserts they have, and to get more of those yummilicious vegan apple pie cookies. read more

My favorite pizza in America. Every time I come to Phoenix to visit family it's a must stop and my family knows it. Once, I got off a flight and my gate was right next to their location in Sky Harbor Airport. I grabbed a pizza even though I knew I would be visiting the restaurant later that night. My mother and I were looking for a place to grab a quick breakfast and LGO was actually recommended by a fellow Arizonian. Plus, this place has rave reviews about pizza and I am all about that! Unfortunately, they don't do pizza until later in the day so we decided on some French pancakes, fresh juice and I got the cucumber salad. -Cucumber salad was refreshing, light and so yummy! Really simple but fresh ingredients made for a great, light meal. Comes with cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, olives, avocado, chives, goat cheese and a lemon/black pepper dressing. -The juices were pulp filled and fresh! -The french pancakes were lovely, you get about 4 crepes filled with creme fraiche, honey and topped with strawberries that are lightly sweetened. This place has souvenirs, wine selection, pre-made salads, juices, pastries/desserts, pizzas, gelato, coffee ... literally if I keep going I'm going to make this my priority destination once I'm back in Phoenix. Such a cute spot to read the paper, eat good food, share a communal table with friends and enjoy the free AC. The workers were nice and cleared plates quickly. NOT DISABILITY FRIENDLY - or the staff! I loved this place, however I went with my friend in a wheel chair and it is so packed he couldn't even get around. He kept apologizing to staff who acted like his wheel chair was a nuisance as they walked around him. They didn't try to accommodate him either since he couldn't make it to the counter to order. I told him to go find a table and I would order for him. Thank god I was there! We don't have an issue it isn't 100% wheel chair accessible but the fact they had zero empathy to help him out due to it, is the issue. It is something I don't think about because I don't usually live it. I forgot I wanted to right this then life happens. Quick update, as I was reminded by some bougie middle aged lady who actually took the time to send me a private message to correct me like she had nothing better to do that this place is "not in Scottsdale". Didn't tell me anything else so I looked it up, and yup, it's technically in Phoenix...but for all intents and purposes it is basically Scottsdale. And that gave me the opportunity to update my mistake here on the thread and call out the exact type of person who haunts this over-valued establishment that is not only bougie AF, but this gem of a gal reminded me, through her own behavior toward me, of how rude the staff was. This place has the cutest and quirkest little items for sale, a great place to shop for a gift for a mom, sister, or friend! I always love the selection of cards they have too. On top of that, their bakery case is AMAZING. I'm not a huge fan of their cookies (I like mine to be more moist and chewy, theirs tend to be drier and crumblier), but I like their tres leches cake and the old-timer cupcake (the one that looks like a big Hostess cupcake). Their gelato is really good too and made in-house with no preservatives or anything weird like that. My favorite flavor is the peach, although the mint is also interesting. Just be forewarned that it's REALLY minty, like really really really minty with actual chunks of mint leaves in it. might be good to eat on a date so you can have super fresh breath for that goodnight smooch! haha! The only reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is because the parking situation is ridiculous. Every time I go here it's so busy but perfect every time. I highly recommend their breakfast but you can go any time of the day. There' is also great pastries $ deserts to go. A very popular spot known for the service , fun kind attitudes of the employees and of course food - We decided to go yesterday and we were extremely shocked to the unfriendliness of the staff behind the registers . No one made eye contact , No one smiled ! In fact the 2 girls seemed to be put out and inconvenienced waiting on us - I was extremely embarrassed. An overwhelming, but delightful experience. Being brand new to Phoenix, I had no expectations for LGO but was on the hunt for a weekend coffee and breakfast sandwich. On its own, the cute gift shop and wine and cheese selection make LGO a great place to stop on your way to a party. I look forward to an excuse to browse this area more! Next, there are cold drinks and to-go yogurts, salads, and juices. These can be picked up on the way to the counter where breakfast and lunch can be ordered. Around the corner is the coffee bar, but you're able to order that at the food counter as well. There was also a coffee bar outside where breakfast could be ordered--I can see this being great for dog walks or grabbing something to-go. Last, how can I forget the bakery section and gelato bar inside! There is also a sit-down restaurant and bar in the next room but since it was not open for service, we were able to eat our food in that room. My husband and I tried the Sophie's Chicken Hash and Commuter Sandwich. The hash really stole the show with the healthy mix of vegetables and hot sauce! I would order this again and again. The Commuter Sandwich was a really solid breakfast sandwich, thanks to the English muffin. I recommend the addition of avocado! We also came back for a quick dinner a few days later. We split the Evil Princess Thai Salad and Mother Earth pizza. We greatly enjoyed both and would recommend the salad & pizza split for a couple looking for a quick and easy dinner! read more

Yo LGO, great food but, check your cashier's attitudes. Twice now I've come in and have been confronted with dismissive attitudes. Today @ 1pm I bought 2 salads (delicious btw) and the chip in my card didn't read so the cashier told me my card is declined, I asked why and her response was "I'm not your bank" so she offered to enter it manually, which worked. I was shocked I received such a snotty response and when I mentioned that it was unwarranted she then followed up with "some people can't take a joke". We're certainly in uncertain times but, that kind off attitude, even with a smile, is completely ridiculous. Yes your food is outstanding but, there are plenty of other places I can get a salad! PS- I was a server for years while in undergrad & grad school, I'm not an entitled Karen. read more

First time customer for pizza. Ordered the standard sausage pizza to go. We returned home made a salad and sat down for dinner. The pizza was so salty we could not eat it. The crispness was There,the char was there, overall a well prepared pie. The only reason for the low score is we had dinner and I had to make a sandwich as I couldn't eat the salty pie. read more
