Been to Lower Greenville enough times and never knew there was a street taco place off the main area. Right behind a gas station and across from the Sam's Club. They ave Tortas and tacos. No idea how much the Tortas were. Tacos $2.50 for corn and $3 for flour. More meat options than I usually see. Got the al pastor, barbacoa, Cochinita (slow roasted pork) - never had this before. Chips and queso $9 and chips and salsa for $2.50. They ran out of a salsa on a Weekend night. There was a decent amount of people there. They do have water cups. Soft drinks to purchase. Did not care for the barbacoa. It wasn't that good imo. I think the cochinita was my favorite. I still felt hungry after eating 3 tacos and half a thing of chips and salsa... Place doesn't look very appealing inside/out, but they have amazing Taco's and Tortas. My favorite is the Torta Milanese, which comes with a generous amount of meat and diced tomatoes, some salad and most important Avocado. If you are looking for some fancy Tacos, this is the wrong place, but for your regular Mexican street fare this place is hard to beat (including the prices). read more

Just moved to Dallas from LA so my review should have a bit more weight as I come from street taco heaven. These were really good tacos. Tortilla is super fresh and warm with perfect amount of char. I got the them around 3:23PM and they were definitely not in their lunchtime rush but the quality was still there. I don't even like chicken but their chicken tacos hit the spot. The tacos were excellent! I got two steak fajita tacos and one chicken taco. The meat was very well seasoned. I also got their rice and beans which was pretty good! The only con to my order was that I got the chips and queso as well, and I was expecting authentic queso but the queso tasted like the cheese you get at the concession stand with your nachos. I still ate it though but I was kind of disappointed. It wasn't terrible but for a place like this, I would hope that they change their queso and make authentic queso from scratch and not go the easy route. Other than that the tacos were fantastic! Oooooo the chichen chicken! Super friendly spot behind the 7-11 on Greenville. Been there seemingly forever. Large dining room, friendly counter staff and quality food. Huge tortas, and the tacos aren't too shabby for $2.50 a piece. They even offer the choice of flour or corn tortillas for those of us who are not really into corn tortillas. The chicken was cooked well and of good quality. Tacos come with onions, cilantro, and lime wedges, as well as two types of salsa. Couldn't figure out which salsa was spicier, but both had nice authentic flavor. One was green, one red. Their to-go containers make it easy to split up an order between friends to eat at a bar down the block, or you can dine in. Food comes out super fast as well, so if you've just robbed a bank or something you can probably get in and out before the cops show up. read more

Probably one of my favorite local torta/taco places (this is coming from a Hispanic from San Antonio). The tortas are super huge (for a GREAT price) and flavorful. I highly recommend the al pastor. It's like eating a salad with the amount of vegetables and contents inside the torta. I finally got the tacos (huevos y chorizo), al pastor, and milonesa) on maiz and all three were exceptional. I've been coming here with my grandfather Alfonso for many years, probably since I was about 5, I'm 21 now. They've always had the freshest food and the tacos are to die for!! I usually get the barbacoa tacos or torta. If you've never had a torta, TRY IT. The bread for the tortas is always just the right consistency for the perfect sandwich. The establishment for the crowd around here is probably not aesthetically pleasing. But it is a hole in the wall place with great food and kind owners! Edit: At least two times a year, (typically around christmas and another special occasion) we order Hojaldras. It's essentially a puff pastry on the inside is ham and cheese and the top is a sugar glaze. It sounds odd but i promise it is amazing! Hmmm. I went in around 11:30am. I thought about getting a breakfast taco, but they told me they serve them all day. So I went with lunch instead and thought I'd try breakfast another time since I had already had that meal. for the day. I ordered a pastor taco and it was not at all what I expected from my abundance of taco experiences. They asked if I wanted everything. Of course I replied yes assuming this would be the standard taqueria taco with the basics of cilantro and onion with a side of salsa and a lime wedge. Not so much. So here's what I got: 1. A large flour tortilla - not that big of a deal to me 2. Sour cream on top - I like sour cream, but not on a street taco 3. Pico de gallo - fine, not what I'm used to again, but okay I guess 4. A smidgeon of red onion - okay, I can deal but need more 5. Tid bits of cilantro - I need much more, with some white onion! 6. No lime wedge at all - Completely Unacceptable!! 7. Shredded cheddar cheese - No, not with this even though I love cheese! The sad thing is that this was some good Pastor that was ruined by all of this junk. There was too much competition with all of the wrong ingredients screwing up my taco. The meat was better by itself. It tasted kinda like a soft taco from the Bell but with real meat. No big deal since it was 2 dollars. I don't want my 2 dollars back, but it's a crying shame this place looks like a taqueria, smells like a taqueria, but it doesn't taste like a taqueria. It was all wrong. This is one reason I usually don't order a lot at Taquerias the first time around so I can test the waters before I become a regular patron. If the pastor isn't good then I don't trust the beef options. It didn't help that I saw one of those baby cockroaches on the counter after I got my food and had eaten 1/4 of it. If I lived in BFE I'd probably give them another chance, but this will be it for me with too many other options nearby that I love. I know there are bugs in many kitchens, but I don't need to see them. I didn't finish my soft taco and said gracias, hasta luego. They were very nice, so I can give them a 1 and 1/2 star with an E for effort. Now we just need and E for Exterminator. I just wish that when I pointed out the bug, the guy behind the counter would have at least pretended to be shocked and killed it rather than just brushing it on the floor like it was no big deal. So, back to Hmmmm ;) Sometimes it's better to stick with what you know. Taquerias can be risky, and that's part of the cheap fun, but you might wanna skip this one! The best food is often found at unexpected, hole-in-the-wall places and this is one place that proves this dining maxim. It's a simple, authentic panaderia serving tortas y tacos and little else in a standalone building behind a 7-11 on lower Greenville Avenue. Interior is basic with a few tables and Mexican murals, counter service only. The menu is basic beyond basic: eight to ten varieties of tortas listed on the chalkboard menu mirrored with the same or similar choices for tacos, plus a few a la carte sides. Ordered the Torta Milanesa with a side of chips and salsa and a Mexican soda. The torta was perfect, a freshly fried crisp pork cutlet in a thin sandwich on freshly baked white bread that was large enough for two servings. The salsa was actually more of a chunky pico de gallo with freshly fried tortilla chips, with both red and green sauces provided from squeeze bottles. The other part of their business is the bakery selling Mexican cookies and pastries. Looked like a good selection in the display case, will have to try some next time. About the only downside to this place is the lack of a website showing what they provide in more detail for those of us largely unfamiliar with each item. Great food for a great price, especially for the quantity and freshness. Nothing too fancy, only a single staff member running orders and busing tables while some cable movie played on the television. Tables and chairs out front for patio dining that no one ever uses, and the place isn't open late. Always passed by but never stopped to try it, and now I'm hooked. read more

How cool is this place? I mean the name alone is genius, It stirs up the idea of the famous monument, as well as a pun, "kitchen eat-za." Awesome place for an unpretentious date. I have been coming to this place for years, and for good reason. When I walk in I expect exactly what I get, a genuine taqueria experience. I always feel like I'm back in south texas when I come. Great, freshly cooked and delicious Mexican food. Not to mention the ridiculously tasty Pan Dulce (sweet bread) selection. I feel its a heresy no one has mentioned it thus far, its always baked fresh in house, and they do it up right, all the classics are there: maranitos, conchas, polvitos. But they even had some I hadn't seen since I lived down south. On a personal note, the term "street taco" keeps getting thrown around, but I'm not sure I fully understand why. This is an enclosed establishment with tables and friendly service. Not a dusty street corner in Mexico, but it seems to be the american thing to give different things buzz words so they can sound hip and young. Mexican food is poor people food, It's not "gourmet", it's "get through the day." The pink cookies taste like my Puerto Rican childhood. I know this place is Mexican, but it still tastes like the cookies my grandmother would give my cousins and I when I was a kid. Everyone there was super friendly (owner, his wife in the back, and son in the front) and there were Mexican telenovelas on in the background.
