I come up to Dallas every few weeks for work and I almost always stop by here because the food is so good! I usually either get a quesadilla or enchiladas. And always with a taco on the side. Awesome Mexican food restaurant! I will agree with the other reviews that the area surrounding the store is a little rough here, but if you're willing to make the visit inside, you definitely won't regret your decision. The inside of the restaurant definitely feels like you're eating at an authentic Mexican restaurant and the staff is friendly as well. I usually get their tacos and they're priced very well for everything you get with them. The salsas are homemade and they come with limes, cilantro, and grilled onions as well. They also have other great dishes like Menudo and Huevos Ranchero I'd recommend too. All in all, if you're looking for authentic Mexican food, I definitely recommend this restaurant, especially if you live in or near the Lakewood area! read more

With so many high reviews, I was really looking forward to checking this place out. While they make a decent taco, it did not measure up to my expectations: Location: this place is in perhaps the sketchiest strip on Gaston, no small feat. There were a few homeless guys loitering in front of the taco place, one with a huge pit bull. Parking, walking in, and returning to your car here is not for the faint of heart. Food: I got three tacos, a trompo, a barbacoa, and a carnitas. While served with fresh chilled sauces, grilled and fresh onions, chopped cilantro, and citrus wedges, the tacos themselves were on the skimpy side (protein quantity and quality,) compared with my go to taco dive at the Quik Way ( https://www.yelp.com/biz/quik-way-food-marts-dallas ) at Southwestern and Greenville, a family run place that is cleaner, safer, and much more generous with their taco meat (much tastier and better overall value) than this place. Further, there is no 50% per taco upcharge for corn tortillas, as there is here. Now I know, and I am better-stronger for trying this place out. Loved this place so much I literally went back the next day. First of all the tacos here are so cheap at only $1 each. I went with the tompo and barbacoa tacos which were so good. The green and red sauces that they give you with the tacos compliment it the tacos sooo well. Idk how these tacos are only $1. The horchata here is also one of the best horchatas ive ever had. Can't recommend this place enough as it is easily the best tacos I've had in Dallas so far. Only draw back would be the location is kind of sketchy at night but it's still so worth it. Not in a gas station, but in a strip mall sharing space with a check cashing place, so it's definitely got that "authentic" feel. Tacos are delicious, pupusas are fantastic, and I can't wait to try more of the menu. read more

Can't go wrong with $1 tacos!!!! I had the trompo tacos and a cheese pupusa. The trompo tacos were great! I got a nice mix of juicy meat along with bits of the seared outer layer. The pupusa was ok. The salsa for the pupusa had more flavor than the pupusa. The salsa for the tacos was so-so. They serve creamy salsa with the tacos. I'm not big on it bc sometimes it has that funky after taste (could be that it wasn't fresh ¯\_(ツ)_/¯). Overall it was a nice experience. The place was clean and the waitstaff was really nice. This is definitely my new favorite taco spot in Dallas. First off the tacos are $1, yes you read that right a freaking dollar! My wallet is already screaming hallelujah. They have a wide range of meats to choose from to put in your tacos and gorditas. I personally recommend the pastor and barbacoa they are super delish. They also serve pupusas which is kind of refreshing for an authentic Mexican joint. The owner is very nice and informative when is comes to describing the food. This place is definitely a diamond in the rough but I'd say It's a must try for taco enthusiasts read more

They have good tacos if your on a budget this is the place to go. Freshly made to order tacos are small but only one buck! They come with two kinds of sauce and cilantro/onion mix on the side in baggie. They also sell Horchata Mexican drink in cup of ice I always order with my tacos great combination! They have fast friendly service, but make sure you order by phone to get the best service,because they are busy especially on weekends. These are hands down the best tacos in Dallas and they are only $1! The trompo meat is amazing and I could drink the salsa verde on its own it is so good. Not to mention the have delicious pupusas and gringas. It's cash only so come prepared to eat your weight in these cheap tasty tacos. read more

A friend and I stopped in here a couple of days and each time it was closed due to the new year, however, it was well worth the wait. The tacos are one dollar, which is unheard of in Dallas anymore. This is our favorite taqueria in Dallas. Hole in the wall father&son operation with some of the best $1 tacos you can find. Gringas, campechanas, tortas, pupusas and other menu items are mouthwateringly delicious as well. Some of the best barbacoa I've found in Dallas so far. Well seasoned and not a lot of fat. No dripping grease like at some places. Ordered the barbacoa plate which came with rice and refried beans. The rice was superb - like grandma used to make. The beans -a miss - tasted old and lumpy. So just order three tacos and a side of rice - probably cheaper that way. Great tacos for $1! Tacos come with fresh Tortillas, delicious sauce and a side of lime, cilantro, and onion. I had a bean and cheese pupusa. My boyfriend had Chicken and Boche tacos.
