La Hacienda is a Mexican restaurant located in a small strip mall not too far from the airport. Parking is plentiful and the ambiance is rather typical. My friend and I arrived here for lunch and were seated right away. Our waitress was a no-nonsense, sassy young lady who I very much appreciated. She made me laugh and gave great recommendations. She commented that the corn tortillas are oddly sweet and not traditionally made so something to keep in mind if you're particular about your corn tortillas. I thought the food was solid. I had ordered three tacos - no sides - with two beef and one barbacoa. I thought it was very reasonably priced, tasty, and quick. I found a hair in my food and immediately brought it to the waiter's attention. Rather than apologizing or trying to make it right, he actually suggested that the hair came from my head. That would be difficult considering I am completely bald and was wearing a hat. It only got worse from there. When the manager came over, her response was a casual, "It happens." No genuine apology. No concern. No accountability. The waiter then doubled down by telling me I would have never found the hair if I had not mixed my food together. Imagine blaming the customer for discovering a contamination issue in their meal. Finding a hair in your food is disgusting. Being insulted and blamed for it is unacceptable. The complete lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic customer service was shocking. If this is how they handle food quality issues, I can only wonder what happens behind the scenes. Service was so disappointing. It was our first outing after a week of really hard life-things that were happening with our lives. Our server, short black bob, pretty girl. Ignored us needing drink refills and had to be told by another coworker, as well as needing more than ONE napkin each which she also ignored us until somebody else nudged her. And then, to come and get our card within a timely manner. The restaurant was beautiful but her and her 2 co-worker besties laughed and mocked us while purposefully not helping us. Should have read the reviews but alas we did not! Service was good but the food was pretty bad starting with guacamole that was so salty it was inedible then the fajitas also came another salt load on the chicken. The tortillas had clearly been left in foil wrap for an extended time as they were hard and dry then the topping plate had no cheese or sour cream. We asked for sour cream & cheese and it was a load of sour cream that we may have eaten a third of but the shredded cheese never arrived! The only good thing we ate was the salsa that was very good. I ordered take out.....steak I was welcomed warmly when I went In and my order was ready..... When I opened the food, it looked good....but... Opening the container, I noticed that There was a very small amount of sour cream and the portion was very small compared to other Mexican Restaurants.... It looked like they attempted to warm a bag of California mix, again unseasoned, and opened up a stale cheese quesadilla then plopped it inside. every large piece of broccoli and cauliflower was cold. i even told her "idk who's cooking but he needs help". she said "oh thats Carlos and he does. good luck with your meal"! what else do you do but drown it in salt, pepper and the $6 tomatillo salsa? it was good the next day after marinating overnight. Very offensive! This restaurant has a very large neon sign, saying HOLY F*CK YOU'RE SEXY! We had to take a second look to see if we were reading it correctly, but yes, the full F word spelled out completely. We had already placed our order before even seeing the sign, but walked out upon noticing it. I spoke with the manager upon our exit and he did not care less. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, but especially if you are bringing children in for a meal. read more

If they are doing this to make people buy more liquor, it's not working. Do your heart and blood pressure a favor and skip this place for somewhere else. The food was fine tasting- your typical Americanized Mexican restaurant. They did well for the most part separating the independent checks. I went in and placed a takeout order recently. They weren't answering their phone, but I wasn't far away so I just showed up. The quickly took my order and waited outside because I had to make a call. It only took maybe 15 minutes and my order was ready and bagged up to go. Everything was exactly as asked for and the food was solid. There are a lot of great Mexican spots and trucks around the North Charleston area, but for basic takeout or if you wanted to come in and crush some margs and chips with salsa, La Ha will do the job. read more

Second time visiting LH, and just as before the food was good but not great. The place looked clean and staff very friendly. Food portion was good and came out quickly around lunchtime. For these reasons I bumped them up one star. Plenty of parking in the strip mall lot. The food was good, but lacked that extra kick or flare, and the prices were above average for a standard Mexican restaurant. I'd score LH as three stars based on the food. My chicken burrito lack substance aside from the chicken. The sides of rice and refried beans were okay, but nothing special. The salsa was good, and it added flavor to the rice and beans. We got a small guacamole to share and it was plenty for two. The guac had very nice flavor and was the highlight of the meal. read more

My boyfriend's sister was in town. Eli and I decided to meet some of his family at La Hacienda by Tanger. Eli and I go to the La Ha in Summerville sometimes and always have a pretty good experience. This was our first time at this location together. We had a large party of about 10 adults and 8 kids. We got three tables near each other. The service was off from the start. We all got our drink orders taken, except for one of our tables. We ordered our food. I ordered the Enchiladas Suizas, which is what I usually get. All of our food came out at different times. Some of us were done eating by the time others got their food. Luckily for us, Eli and I got our food with the first round. My Enchiladas Suizas was disappointing because it only came with one pineapple slice on top. I usually get three or four pineapple slices on top of the Enchiladas Suizas. The reason I order that is for the pineapple! Because we got our food first, we were able to order dessert while the rest of the fam continued to eat their meals. We ordered the chocolate cake. It was supposed to come with ice cream and sopapilla. They told us they were out of ice cream. We still wanted it. They brought it out on the fajita plate still. Without the ice cream, the cake and the sopapilla got burnt up by the fajita plate, which was really hot! It all tasted incredibly burnt and disgusting. It would have been delicious if they would have put the cake and sopapilla on a regular plate! I went to the bathroom in the middle of dinner. I noticed in their bathroom that they had neither soap nor any hot water! Cold water only and no soap during COVID????? That is just not right! Also, we got zero refills the whole time we were there. That goes for all 18 of us. Not a great experience. I would highly recommend the La Ha in Summerville. This one, not so much. read more

WOW!!! We just ordered for pick up about an hour ago and got 2 Texas Rice dinners--it has chicken steak and shrimp with peppers and queso --it was so freaking AMAZING!!! We got it for our family of 3 and it was just enough for us and not leaving any leftovers to deal with and we got queso to go with the chips n salsa--I'm dooo full and ready to relax and watch Braves Baseball Thanks LaHa for a wonderful dinner that I didn't have to cook or clean up after !!! I like to go to this LaHas. They have Lunch Specials on Saturdays as well. I don't normally veer from my favorite staples but La Hacienda gets me to try different menu items. The menu has been revised several time and each time gets better. I like t have pics of what I am ordering especially in specialty restaurants where the language barrier may be limiting. Their staff runs like a well oiled machine. You sit down. You get chips and salsa. You get water and then you order. Food is consistent service is quick and the ambience is nice. Our server inadvertently charged us for it, but a to go guacamole later and we squashed it. Taco Salad just reads poorly, but I'm trying to watch calories, so no matter the actual calorie count, somehow I just felt better ordering it. I guess in part that I derive additional pleasure from eating from a bowl that is made of nachos, then eating the bowl itself. The carne asada meat was very well represented, and very flavorful -- once you pierced the top layer of the lettuce and diced tomatoes.
