I visited Veronica's for the first time last Wednesday night and now I know what the hype is all…read moreabout! I had been wanting to go for quite some time to try the Birria because I heard it is so amazing, and it really lived up to the Hype! Oh, did I mention they have the viral soft serve margaritas!?!?! I got the strawberry, it was so pretty, excellent presentation and absolutely delicious! I will say it was more like a dessert to me and I would have preferred to have it after my meal instead if before but that's just me. We got there between 6:30 and 7:00 and it was really busy, luckily our friends got there first and grabbed a table. They had already had a round of drinks while waiting on us but it took a while for anyone to come over to greet us or refill their drinks but again it was busy and everyone was helping everyone. We ended up splitting the birria platter and still had plenty of food to take home which we just ate last night as leftovers and were still absolutely fire!! I think the egg roll and quesadillas were my favorite over the tacos bc I love the melty cheese. I also ordered a small side of queso which was surprisingly a little spicy which I really enjoyed. They even surprised us when my BIL ordered a small margarita and it came out in a fish glass (see photo). It was so unexpected but also so cute at the same time ... it's really the little things like this that bring joy, okay? LOL This place was absolutely amazing and I can't wait to try it again.

It's nestled in an area known to have a lot of flavor already so just be aware of that. Firstly I will say the folks running this establishment are friendly, kind, humorous and above all attentive. The service has never failed me. The birria is exactly as you'd expect very very well done and consistent. I've had the quesabirria tacos, birria eggrolls and "pizza" also recently the steak quesadilla. All perfectly executed and tasty AF. The environment in the restaurant is vibrant and the decor is elaborate. The prices are maybe a few dollars more than say your average Mexican eatery. $15 for three Quesabirria tacos, quesadilla 18 bucks (too much). In my opinion the birria platter is the best value for first time visitors. Chips and salsa are free and very good. Overall I would definitely recommend Veronica's I've never left feeling like I didn't get my moneys worth or the food wasn't great and this means a lot.

El Acapulco isn't close to home, but every once in a while you want a different Mexican restaurant…read morefor dinner. Such is the case last Friday when we wanted a break from the several Mexican eateries close to home. A 20 minute drive to Preston Highway and there we were. We've been here several times before and have never been disappointed. On this particular Friday we were seated immediately and started perusing the menu. El Acapulco has a very sizable menu with vegetarian and meat-o-saurus options ad-infinitum. On previous visits I've had enchiladas of some sort and this time just. plain. tacos sounded good. My eyes spotted the Quesa-Tacos and I was intrigued. Melted cheese between corn tortillas, then filled with a protein and covered with cilantro and onion?!?!? SOUNDS SUPERB. My selections were birria, chorizo, and carne asada. More on that later. El Acapulco is much larger inside than it appears to be on the outside. I don't know what it was before it became El Acapulco, but it's huge! Open ceiling with exposed rafters give it a very open feel. There are a number of screen scattered around the with current news playing, and the background music isn't overwhelming. The staff is busy hustling, 100% of the time. It's always been clean and well-maintained. About ten minutes later our food arrived. I anxiously awaited my Quesa-Tacos and you can see by my photo that I was not disappointed! I've eaten a lot of tacos in a lot of restaurants, but these were, hands-down, some of the absolute best. The tortillas appeared to be slightly grilled on each side to melt the cheese between the layers...and It. Was. Amazeballs. When I was done I was kinda sad that they were gone. I was at once happy and sad. That doesn't happen too often. I'm the kind of person who finds one thing he REALLY likes at a restaurant and largely stays with it. I think the Quesa-Tacos and I are going to be come really good friends.
