I had to come here to say how happy we were with our visit last night. We had come here last year and wasn't happy at all. It was crowded and the service wasn't very good. We had to chase down the server to get a drink then to get the bill AND to get our card back. We didn't want to drive further away so we decided to give them another chance. We were impressed with the service and, especially, the Coctel de Camarón. The steak fajitas were really good, too. We will definitely go back. read more

Can't recommend about anything about this place. Probably the worst Mexican food I've ever had. Ordered fajitas to go and they forgot the tortillas. But worst of all is the management's attitude toward customer service. They offer an app to order but then it's not set up properly with regard to pricing and somehow it's the customer's fault for not knowing you have to pay for things that appear free on the app. There aren't many choices for restaurants in Lake Anna but definitely skip this place. read more

We were so happy to hear there was a restaurant close to the house. That and the lake view are pluses. The downsides are the low ceilings, lack of parking near the restaurant and size. At one point it was so smoky inside because of all the sizzling plates I struggled to breathe and see. They got so busy we sat waiting fifteen minutes for the server to bring back our credit card. Starting at the beginning, with the salsa and chips. The salsa had no flavor whatsoever and looked like thick tomato juice. I ordered the fried chimichanga with taco meat. When I cut into the chimichanga, the meat looked grainy and mealy. I only ate 2 bites. The refried beans had no trace of any beans and the guac and sour cream were about a tablespoon worth. I visited on a Friday night and the restaurant was nearly empty with the exception of my party and a larger (over 12) party. Our waitress was not very tentative as we had to ask for her to get our order in and the other waitstaff were busy putting up holiday decorations. Customer service was poor. I did have a skinny margarita that was pretty good. That's the only positive thing I can say. read more

Busy place with friendly staff, large portions, and tons of drink options. A little disappointed in the sopapillas (not pictured) as they had chocolate drizzle rather than honey and were a bit crispier than expected, but the other food was very tasty and served hot. I enjoyed the rum chata colada and taco salad (no tomatoes). My friend also enjoyed the dinner as prepared and we had another plate to go. Kids options, indoor and outdoor seating with a nice view. I like the idea of a new spot at the lake - but it was a turn off to see that drink prices were not listed in the menu and my basic skinny margarita was $15.99!!! The margarita was one shot of tequila, fresh squeezed lime and garnished with lime, orange, and cherry......if I had know the price - I would've ordered a standard tequila club soda. It was just a bowl glass with nothing special about it. I saw other reviews mention the drink prices being high....food prices average. I will visit again but definitely ask questions about drink prices - print them on the menu like everyone else! read more

New Mexican Restaurant with a Lake front view. Tucked at the end of the lake near the Dam, this place has amazing views. Dropped in on a Saturday eve , this place was super busy. The inside is typical wooden tables and booths with colorful mexican flair. The inside is quite large with many many seats. We were quickly seated by the host and hostess. They started us with drinks and baskets of chips with salsa.the salsa is flavorful and mild, we quicky emptied the first bowl and was given another. They offer a full bar, we opted for Mex Beer and Jumbo Margaritas The menu is colorful and full of pictures. Lots of options and several specialities to choose from, they even have a build your own combo, 2 or 3 items. We tried that. I ordered the burrito, enchilada and tamale with rice and beans ( beef) and we also orderee a 2 item, quesedilla and chile rellano plate. Wow-! Serving sizes were large. The food - served piping hot and oh so delicious. The tamale was outstanding! The enchilada sauce super tasty. The chile loaded with cheese and oozing out all iver the plate into a red sauce and the beans!! Yummm. Everything we saw pass the table looked great. Be hungry if you order the 3 item combo- i couldnt finish - so I had a box to take home. Once issue about this new place is parking- the signage is small and you have to go through the mariana boat area and a gate( get a token to get out) its free but a little confusing if it is your first time here. Food prices are good - bar prices seemed a little high but nothing to outrageous. Check this place out - its off the beaten path but well worth the trip. read more

I have never in my life ever experienced such bad food and service. My server was a girl named Valerie, she was insulting and had terrible body odor that disturbed my lunch. The food was freezing when it arrived, and there was some slimy green substance on the plate I thought was spit. Valerie was extremely disrespectful when I addressed these issues, calling me names and degrading me with insults and threatened me personally saying that if I came back, she would assault me with her coworkers, one of them being named Alex. When addressing this to the owner, they immediately dismissed me and asked me to leave the premises since they are all family and related to one another. I would never step foot in this stinky, cockroach-infested dirty restaurant ever again. I highly recommend everyone to do the same as well! read more

Large selection of menus items with something for every taste. We have been to their Spotsy location many times so imagine our excitement when they put El Grand a mere 4 miles from our house. I just visited this restaurant with my wife will definitely not be visiting this place again. When we received our food it was cold and our waitress who were Valerie and jasmine were extremely disrespectful when I tried to address the situation. They started getting hostile with us, also noticing their rudeness to other customers and employees. She also threatened to throw my wife's drinks in her face and when the ask to speak the manager she denied. They started whispering racist comment when we were leaving. I will be reporting this to the BBB hopefully no one ever comes to this restaurant. read more

They've done a great job with the interior of the restaurant, and the patio area overlooking the lake is awesome. Service was fine, and the food was good. Great nacho chips, which came out warm. I had the Choro burger (very good) and my wife the shrimp burrito (a monster). Will definitely go back again, when it's warmer and we can enjoy the patio area. The only real negative, at least on our first time there, was the parking mess. The pot hole road to get back there, going thru a gate to get in the parking lot, then having to get a token (free in the restaurant) to get out of the parking lot. The food was flavorful and they give generous portions. I loved the salsa. The margarita was very good. We sat at a booth with a view. My only concern is that the windows were dirty, the glass doors look like they haven't been cleaned in months. The lamps over the tables were dusty on the outside, with cobwebs on the inside. I would hope that since we are heading into Fall/Winter, the management will use the off season to do a deep cleaning. The food is worth returning. read more

Inside Environment 1 Star - No air condition. Felt so uncomfortable outside in 90 degree weather was cooler. We didn't venture into the bathroom. Outside Environment 4 Stars - Chairs were cute and not too uncomfortable like a lot of other outdoor places. Was as it is at lake anna super hot. They need fans, pergola, or canapy. The tiny umbrillas dont help much. Definately need pest control as we had spiders, a bee sting, and flies join us for dinner. The water view is great and restaurant is handicap friendly. Without handicap spaces the parking is very far and you should drop off handicap or elderly family members. The lot I think was gravel so keep that in mind. Service 2 Star - Barely saw the waitress. She was kind when we saw her. Took 30 minutes to get our drink order. Got our own to go boxes. Drink refills were slow and thank god my husband asked for a pitcher of water which she was kind enough to do. Took 90 minutes for food to come out and never saw her during that time. Another table left after they were ignored over 30 minutes. Recommend training staff or hiring more. The managers could easily tell people weren't receiving good service. Food 5 Stars - Shocked at how good our food was. Sister been a few times prior and said to avoid the steak as she felt it was boiled. She prefers the shredded chicken. I don't and ordered the pick 3 which was 2 chili relenos and 1 al pastor quesadilla with an upgrade and were the best I have had. The prices are very fair. Wish chips had a free refill. Alcohol N/A - I didn't drink, but can tell you brother in law got a huge beer and it was $8.99 (very fair) and sisters strawberry daiquiri was $15.99. It wasn't even filled to the top and wasn't very strong. I think thats just too expensive. We so want this place to thrive and hope these tips are considered. We will be back in cooler months and until then we'll do take out. read more

I've been to most of the El Patrons in the area. This one is by far the most amazing view. It is literally on Lake Anna so I can't wait to eat here in the summer and sit on the patio seating. The food here is amazing and you get the same consistency of quality at every single location. The only complaint here (and I'm not removing a star because people could still be in training) but the staff isn't as attentive as they are at the other locations. We will definitely be back since this is pretty close to my parents house. read more

Ordered ceviche and the menu said it had, "pico de gallo" in it. Pico de Gallo comes with jalepenos every.....single...time. Jalepenos come in ceviche as well. It is in the basic, traditional recipe. There were no jalepenos! At a Mexican restaurant??!!! No jalepenos??!! I asked for some and they were brought to me on the side. When, I got the bill, they charged me for the jalepenos! At a Mexican restaurant??!!! I asked why and the waitress said they charge for the jalepenos in the Pico de gallo! At a Mexican restaurant??!! That is like going to an American restaurant, ordering potato salad and getting no potatoes and when you ask for them, you are charged!! If you know pico and ceviche...IT IS THAT BAD. There are a lot of Mexican restaurants in the area. This is the ONLY Mexican restaurant that charges for jalepenos in their Ceviche or Pico de gallo.
