    Croissants and coffee

We go to La La Island often as we live nearby and really enjoy their croissants and coffee. The space is great as it has lota of tablea and the staff is always friendly. In the afternoon it gets pretty busy with people with their computers but if you go early, you should be ok.

A spacious bakery just opened up along the west Broadway corridor. There were many selections of fresh baked danishes - strawberry, raspberry, kiwi - but we opted for the mango danish. Fruit was ripe and it taste just right, not too sweet. Only ask would be for a tad more flaky/crunch. We also had the double baked almond croissant. Perfect in every way - texture, taste and aroma. Wow! The filling was still warm and oozing so beware not to eat it over your best summer whites! They also made decent cappuccino and mocha. The space was super chill and not confining. Occupying a lovely street corner it should receive ample foot traffic and opportunities for those "happen chance" meet ups. Overall 4.5 stars on opening month.

One of my all-time favourite activities is discovering new local cafes. This time around I had 2.5 hours to kill in Kitsilano so I decided to do a quick Google search for local cafes and I ended up visiting LA LA Island. This is a super cute cafe located on West Broadway and is a 5-minute drive from Kits Beach. What I love about this cafe was that they had a variety of seating areas. I went at 11am on a weekday so there was plenty of seating available. I asked one of the ladies who was working there to surprise me and pick a cold drink and a savoury treat for me....she picked half-sweet iced matcha latte w/ skim milk and Ham & Cheese Croissant. Both were 10/10. The ham and cheese croissant was the best ham and cheese croissant I've had in Vancouver! 12oz Iced Matcha Latte $5.00 Ham & Cheese croissant $5.25

Be sure to visit this unassuming cute little Asian bakery cafe. The flavours are unique. No bubble tea here. The ham and cheese crossaint is not only perfectly baked but has a clever hint of spice and Sesame seeds that makes it quite different and delicious. Yummy iced tea flavours round out their summer menu. Service is friendly and fast. I'll be back when I'm in the neighborhood again.

As soon as we walked in we conjectured this must have been a produce store previously- which we confirmed to be true. Virtually nothing has been done to convert it to a coffee shop other than to bring in some bulky and somewhat uncomfortable tables and chairs. Maybe this was done on purpose to achieve a certain look but not sure it worked. Coffee was ok but a little weak and not too flavourful. Banana muffin was quite good, cinnamon danish was also good but seemed as if was mostly air. Service was friendly both at the counter and coffee bar. Condiment area was small and hard to find a spot to put coffee down while preparing. Overall not a bad coffee shop but it could be better if they increased the number of baked goods and created a more welcoming environment.

Both their pastries and their drinks are really amazing. I got the strawberry matcha latte, and the flavor was great without being overly sweet

Happy to discover that this place was nice and quiet inside so would definitely consider coming back here again. Food was awesome. I absolutely loved my Shakshuka. Might be the best Shakshuka I've ever had. Not that I'm any authority figure on what a Shakshuka should taste like. But I really enjoyed this one. The combination of flavors, the runny egg yolks, the gooeyness of the cheese...it was just such a wonderfully comforting and belly warming meal. I saw a Cinnamon Honey Latte on the board and decided to order that for my drink. These days, I can never tell when the word "Latte" is being used to describe a coffee beverage or whether it's being used to describe a beverage that has milk in it. A Matcha latte for example, tends to just be a sweetedned Matcha beverage with milk in it. No coffee thrown in. I was kinda hoping this Cinnamon Honey Latte would be milk with cinnamon and honey thrown in. It turned out to be a coffee beverage. No complaints about it. It's on me for assuming that it was milk with cinnamon and honey thrown in. I should have probably asked our server about the beverage before simply ordering it. Will make sure to do that if/when we end up here again. Kinda had my eye on the Turkish Apple Tea though so might just order that next time and the whole "Latte" dilemma wouldn't be an issue with that. My daughter's Avocado Toast looked super yummy as well. Might try ordering that next time, although Michelangelo's Mediterranean Spread was also kinda calling out to me!

Stumbled across this place while looking for a simple yet delicious Japanese meal to end my latest Vancouver trip. 93 coffee showed up, which was perfect as it was only a stroll and a half from the downtown waterfront area. The location is thicker away, quiet, and upon first entry, it was obviously that somebody meticulously thought of the concept and took great care in procuring the furniture, fixtures, and set up. The staff was friendly but in a non-rushing feeling-like-a-business type of way. So all the good qualities of your neighborhood cafe with the charm of a Japanese cafe. I ordered a hamburg steak teishoku and my boyfriend ordered the Hamburg steak curry. We were impressed by how the patty was flavorful, meaty, but neither greasy or heavy - signature of how it is in Japan. The curry was flavorful without being overly rich. The side pairings for the teishoku was perfect - a mini salad, side of pickled vegetables, rice, and miso soup. Very well balanced. Overall, super satisfied of this latest find. We need to come back to try some of the dessert offerings.

We got 3 dishes to share: Mushroom Benedict ($18), Bacon Benedict ($19), and Lox Bagel ($18). Overall, they tasted good but I found the carbs/base to be underwhelming. Bagel was rock hard, to the point where we just took the fillings out and ate them separately. The biscuit(?) was alright but tasted like english muffin to me. The hollandaise sauce was one of the better one I tasted though. Beverage wise, my flat white tasted excellent, though my friends said that the drip and Vietnamese coffee were so-so. Ambiance was pretty cozy with eclectic decorations spread throughout. However, and this could be because we were seated at the back, service did seem absent as they seemed to forget about us (we had to chase them down to get the bill). A few of my friends recommended this place but after this visit I can't say that this is one I would return to.
