Was with a big group around the corner for dinner at Boulton & Watt, when a friend said he wanted early 2000s Hip-Hop & R&B A.K.A. a really good DJ. I followed my little yelp-ing nose and picked out La Linea based on the reviews about music and fun vibes. I can't really describe what I was expecting but it definitely wasn't what I walked into. Definitely a lot smaller than I was imagining, and not at all the crowd I had envisioned. Regardless, my friends and I claimed a spot in the front corner of the bar and had a pretty good time. The music was on point, and the drinks were pretty cheap at around $10 a pop for well drinks. Nothing else was really catching my attention so, for the location I feel like some improvements could be made and it would be more inviting to the east village/les crowd. read more

Great crowd, the daily happy hour 1/2 priced drinks is great. Good sizes. They play hip hop, reggae, soca, everything... It's pretty great to dance on the weekends, never been during the week. Gets pretty crowded on a friday night and that's cool, the more the merrier. And it's not a sausage fest either there's ample felines. Check it out I might tonight who knows. read more

I use to like coming here but now it just seems like the crowd has changed. The place is also super small and the guys there are so desperate. It is not a good place a for a group, you guys would be crushed and you will have no place to put your coats or things. It's pretty wack! After the Brazilian Day festival, I still had my dancing shoes on so we went down to the East Village to follow up samba with reggae. Went their 2 times. Since I was with a group of friends. We enjoyed it. What was scary is when I took my sister for her 23rd birthday. We hardly drank. Yet we became very sick and dizzy. We both realized the bartender had put something in our drinks. Out of so many places we go and drink. This was the first time ever we both got so sick from not that many drinks. La Linea maybe one of the most unprofessional & insecure places in New York City. For several months I went to this place for its happy hours & social life style. Over the past couple months I have discovered more about this place than I wanted to know. For one nothing is ever secure at this bar. I have see people loose they're cell phones over time right at the bar. Just last night someone stole my bag right under my friends noses to leave it in the bathroom & make it's way to the bar. If it wasn't for knowing the staff I may have never got it back. This shows how simple it is with the mistrustful people that walk in and out of this place and how easy your belongings can be stolen. As for the bartenders they are completely unprofessional. One out of 4 always seems to have personal problems and is willing to take it out of paying customers. They either look at you with a superiority complex or unwilling to serve at all. They rather flirt with customers they deem interesting before ever providing a service. As for the space it's too small for any parties. It simply isn't worth the effort to attend more than one. Music is always on point and sitting up front gives good people watching vantage, especially the craziness on the streets during St. Patrick's Day weekend. But drinks? Weak sauce x10. A friend recommended this place for Hip Hop, and being the Hip Hop dance queen I believe I am I wanted to check it out. When we arrived, the music was popping in the first thirty minutes. There were multiple going in on the narrow dance floor. I definitely yearned for my most beloved dancer friends to join me that night. However there were two problems. First and foremost, the bar is really narrow, being New York it almost comes as no surprise that walking from one end of the bar to the other took time and flexibility. Secondly, the DJ decided to spin music every 10 seconds so that by the time you were ready to sing along to the music, you had to figure out what song he had just changed it to. I'm not sure if this place is too small or too popular. If you come with a sizable group it could be a problem as finding your corner will likely be difficult. I'm also not sure of what you'd do with your coat in the winter since I don't recall seeing a coat check. The music is mainly hip-hop, R&B, reggae and top 40 pop hits. They also play a decent mix of new and dated hits. If you go, come early is my only advice if you want to grab prime couch space. I just got back from here on a Thursday night of drinking with Ms. M.O. and it wasn't too shabby... 1) layout of the place: consisted of a long bar against the left side, then sofas and tables toward the right, and then followed by a private room in the back. 2) music: they played old school hip hop that was mixed quite well. I've been to La Linea twice- both for birthday bar crawls. The first time (six years ago) was a complete fluke...We were trying to get into Karma lounge, but it was crowded...so we ended up here. It was a fun time for all because it was packed, the music was popping and so were the people. Second time was meh- not as amazing. They had great happy hour specials until 9pm, and the DJ did play decent music, but the place was pretty much dead to the world...even well into midnight. Not to mention- the bouncer wouldn't let my two friends in because they were wearing football jerseys (as part of a Halloween costume). We had to end up leaving and going to No Malice Palace instead. It's a good start off to round up friends for a bar crawl, but I would move on elsewhere. read more

I've only been here for happy hour. A friend of mine has been to this bar often and suggested it for a birthday happy hour. Their happy hour is from 6-9 and it's half off top shelf liquor! The waitress seemed new and a bit overwhelmed even though the demand wasn't high but we made it work. I would definitely come back for happy hour again in the future. I came to this place twice. The drinks are mediocre. I usually come around 4ish and leave before the crowd starts pouring in. The floor is always sticky, the last time I came, the sugar that the bartender used to rim the glass had ants in it. I told her and she dumped it but I have no idea how she didn't see it. They don't really clean the tables, glasses tend to sit all night. At a certain point they do have a DJ. To be honest, when and if I go back, I probably would only order shots. The happy hour price actually isn't bad, it was $6 a drink and I order a cosmo and their cocktail ( I think it was called the La Linea) . If your going to sit in the back with the couches you might need to notify the staff to clean up, otherwise your feet will be stuck to the ground. After being ignored for 15 minutes at DBA my friend and I decided to walk out and stumbled into La Linea only to be welcomed by the R-n-B of my 9th grade. AHHH wonderful place to be in a snow storm and $4 Guinness was perfect. Only wish they had beer on tap to make me a black and tan. Granted he was by himself and it was a bit busy he was extremely disrespectful to a few patrons in the bar and he is not good for La Linea's business.
