I liked this bar years ago when it was mostly just a latin bar. The last few times I have been there I was not really thrilled with the overall experience. I have definitely seen better, maybe this only worked in the early 2000's era ( It was really good on late saturday nights). Since I can't go back in a time machine and enjoy the good times I had back in the days. This is a skip from now on. The music used to be great, some reggae, some rap and of course some reggaeton but now it seems to be lame hip hop, not even good stuff. I have been coming here for a while for happy hour mostly. Ambience: Place is small but not tiny. Crowd varies but it's usually late 20s to late 30s. There is only one bathroom for each gender so the line can get quite long. There are TVs everywhere if you want to watch the game. Drinks: Half off happy hour till 9pm and the drinks are not watered down! There is a DJ Friday and Saturday that comes on at 10pm. He plays top 40, Spanish and reggae. Before then I think the bartender plays music from her Ipod. Overall good chill spot read more

The bar vibe was great but not with Touchy DJ randomly shouted to some people for some random arguments and stopped the music. Also the crowd was not great and extremely touchy. I personally witnessed a fight between two group of girls in the bar. Not sure if I wanna go back. read more

Best dam bar ever when ma boi jerod is in the house

It's a safe bet for the Lower East Side, just don't expect anything spectacular. We came here in the middle of the week for drinks. The first thing I noticed was the lack of security (not uncommon for a Tuesday night) and a male to female ratio that clearly favored the men (which isn't good for a variety of reasons). The overall look of the place at least for the first third is a standard bar with a narrow passage leading to a wider back room. It's mostly a hip hop crowd and I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the patrons used La Linea as a pre-game spot before going dancing at nearby spots like bob Bar and Sutra. The cocktails are hit or miss. We tried three and two of them were quite good. The upside to their drink menu is that they have a happy hour that starts at 11:00 pm, which is very helpful for a pre-game plan. From what the bartender told me and other things I've heard, La Linea has its own dance vibe, but even if it doesn't its a good place to start the night and go dancing someplace else. Have fun. I owe my whole art handling career to La Linea & DJ Super Dave...haha! *Disclaimer: Super drunk, BTW, right now but still in control!* If she's still there, Gwen is one of the sweetest persons/bartenders you'll ever meet...share your thoughts on books music & culture with her if that's your thing and she's bout it-bout it. "Gwen..thanks for allowing this drunk-ass to lay my passed out head on your bar without question." It took a turn for the worse when they decided to remodel it and make it a "complete" lounge. Would have gotten 4 stars if they didn't gas their own heads up and try to be what they aren't...Bouncers turned super velvet rope and I, a loyal patron, was forced back into the mainstream of paying customers, thanks to video cameras placed by the management, it became a 1942'ish establishment after that point. I loved that it was a place that I, and others, could call a second living room even though on the weekends it was super bridge & tunnel. Not sure what it's like now but the tenders were cool as a New York spring. It's a great local spot to get your drink on and hear nuff white label hip-hop to make your stiff friends say "let's go to LimeLight"...sucKas! My friend got ROBBED here on New Years Day. The DJ was playing really good reggae (a little too much of it,) and was very personable, but as we were leaving we found out that her clutch was missing. We had a sense of who it was. She had not stepped more than a few feet away from the bench where she had places it. To their credit, the manager on duty took it seriously enough to take her info., but wasn't trying to call the police to make a report. It had some cash and her passport in it. When we walked outside someone who was on their way in heard us talking about the passport and came out with it mins. later. I guess in the New Year's spirit the theif ditched the passport. Cash & her fav. pocketbook were gone. Could of been worse. I went to this bar/lounge randomly on a Friday night. If you like hip hop and reggae this is the place for you. Personally, I feel like the name is a bit deceiving and should be changed to "the line" since I didn't hear much Spanish music. The crowd is a bit of everyone with lots of dancing however, if you stay in there long enough you notice some riff raff start to roll in. The bartender was good, fast and friendly service. As for the rest of the place, not bad before 12am after that it would depend on your personal taste. read more

The fact that the bouncers wear t-shirts, Jordan's and hats but do not allow other men in with hats is despicable. Going to an establishment that already has very low standards, it is absurd that you are not even allowed to put a baseball hat in a bag and carry it. If the establishment is that concerned with appearance, they should have more attractive people( clean cut, educated individuals) at the door to greet the high clientele that the establishment brings. read more

I visited this place with my cousin last week and it was a little smaller than expected. But big things sometimes come in small packages. The drinks were pretty decent. The music was REALLY good. The crowd was ok UNTIL all of the youngings came thru. I understand that clubs are 21 and older, but partying with 21 year olds is a different ball game in this day and age. 2.5* I came here via invite of a childhood friend and some of her girls. She frequents the place so I decided to see what all the fuss was about. I must state that we did not go on a weekend. During the week, they seem to have an almost never ending happy hour. Like it literally starts I think around 4-5, goes until 9 and then pick up AGAIN at 11 until closing. It honestly was one of the craziest things I've seen in terms of bars/lounges. I can see a LOT of people coming here to get plastered on the cheap before or after they head elsewhere. In spite of having ordered drinks during both happy hours, they didn't water down my rum and coke, so I was happy because it's not the strongest drink to begin with. I'm not above admitting that that could be a result of my friend's tab though. There was a point between happy hours where they asked if they could give me some random rum instead of Bacardi. What??? It wasn't like I was asking for top shelf rum, LOL. They played a lot of classic R&B and hip-hop mixes, so the nostalgia was nice, having been born in the early 80's. Wasn't really interested in dancing since the place became crowded and my head was swimming a bit, but it seemed like people were having a good time in general, especially when happy hour numero dos started. The first time I went in there was a bartender w/ a smoking hot outfit on that more than distracted me before I figured out that I should stop looking to avoid being disrespectful. LOL. Seriously though! They switch up the style/genre of music quite a bit throughout the night. First time I went, they had salsa going and switched it up to hip hop. The second time I went, they started w/ more dance/techno and then ended up playing hip hop. I'm picky w/ music, so it was cool, but not perfect. I would have to dj for it to be perfect, so it's not a negative aspect of the club. after wearing out our welcome at a listening party...which really meant being extra thirsty on a budget, a group of us headed over to la linea for a round of drinks. la linea is one of my substitutes for bOb's. they play good music (hip hop, rnb, a little reggae/dancehall), no cover (idk why theres mention of cover in other reviews, my friends and i have never paid...unless we're exempt because of our charm). so heading over early-ish on a wedsneday night was a change. drinks were half price til nine...so our round of drinks transformed into five rounds of patron and a round of jameson (for good luck). did i mention that was all in one hour? it was. its a cozy space and depending on the time you are going to encounter a different vibe. get there early and get your drink on and the later you stay the greater the chance youll get caught up in some bumpin and grinding towards the back of the bar. read more

I've only been here for happy hour. Drinks are cheap and drinks are strong. It has a decent lounge area with a large screen tv to watch any sports game. It's very dark inside but the music (mostly hip hop/rap/soul) is very loud as well so it doesn't make it a great date spot. They don't have any speciality drinks or food here. There are 3 reasons I go to La Linea... the half off happy hour and the 2 DJ's on the weekend:DJ's Kool Keith & Lynrick Live. They consistantly know how to get a crowd going. I love the variety of music and their willingness to take requests. I've had my last 2 birthday parties here and my guests always say they're surprised at how great the music was. But be sure to leave before 2-3ish.. that's when the crowd sometimes tends to take a turn... otherwise, good stuff! read more

I gave this 2 stars because I walked in and walked right back out. The space is small and there wasn't much of a dance floor. I came here about 10 and there was a decent amount of people in here. It was early in the night, but I already see people doing their sober dance moves on the floor. I wasn't sure what genre music they were playing, but it fit that atmosphere.
