La Lupe is a great no frills taquería. It's the kind of place you can order juicy tacos, hefty burritos and some Mexican beer to wash it all down. Or a spicy margarita if you like to get saucy! It's not a fancy place, nor should it be. When the weather is warm there's even a little outdoor patio in the back where you can enjoy your tacos in style. The food here is delicious. i try to stop here at least once a week on my way home. The ambiance makes you feel right at home, the decor is great, and once again the food is DELICIOUS. Im writing this review as I'm sipping my Margarita. This place is a hidden gem. The guacamole is not served with requested spiciness level so they provide you with delicious salsas on the side which are mild, medium or spicy. The chips are FRESH!. My margarita is delicious!! My new spot....loved this place. Had a stressful day and decided i needed a margarita. Sat at the bar and did not leave until hours later. The ambiance was great. Really authentic and colorful. The drinks were good and the food was amazing. None of that fake "Taco Bell" Mexican food. The owner was great and really down to earth. She checked in and made conversation with the customers. Staff was also really friendly. Was nervous about going to a place by myself but I was so comfortable there and will definitely visit regularly. The cashier didn't tell me all of the margarita flavors (and they were not listed) so I picked a flavor I normally wouldn't get based on the three options that he gave me and I didn't like it. I went back up to the counter to exchange it for another flavor after hearing him list more flavors to another customer. He said he wouldn't exchange it because he couldn't re-sell it but I could buy another one. I have never had a restaurant not exchange something I didn't like and I should have been told all the flavor options. He didn't care about making the customer happy at all. The young girl named 'Majo' taking orders wanted my friend who was with me and came eating a yogurt to leave because of that while I was making business and paid way to much for what I ordered. I'll start this one "dear food critic", as Karla (the owner) starts all of her responses- The food was so so, but bland. The decor was adorable, but the service severely lacking. I don't understand why I'm pushed to tip when I'm not actually being served. You can say what you want regarding tipping the back of the house, but the optional tip jar is sufficient. If I'm grabbing my own food and bussing my own table, I shouldn't be adding a service gratuity. Here's a thought from someone in the service industry- Instead of attacking your critics, maybe you should focus on how to utilize said criticism to improve your establishment. The atmosphere was nice, the bar was beautiful.The food was okay, i would even say good, but the service was lacking. in general the way you get your food/drinks is a little confusing. it would be a lot smoother if they gave you numbers for your tables so you know when your food is in the window, instead of shouting out "chicken tostadada?" or "mike?", they could call a number. The bartender was rushing to make drinks and bring them to people while still serving those at the bar. Not sure how to remedy that, but when we went up to the bar to ask about our drink, she was clearly stressed and replied "I'M MAKING IT, I'll bring it to you". Sorry for asking. Wow. This place went downhill quickly. Visited yesterday after not having been in months and I regret it. Margaritas were sour and watered down. STALE chips with a TINY saucer of guacamole for $7, and all three tacos I ordered were terrible. The corn tortilla on all of them was also stale, the veggie taco so over-salted it was inedible, shrimp and fish taco were dry and flavorless. No bueno on all fronts.
