I love La Madeleine's food. However, they are dropping the ball at this location. I ordered a takeout chicken Caesar salad and a kids grilled cheese sandwich. My Caesar salad came with no Caesar dressing and my sandwich had paper pieces in it. I was confused as to what I was chewing that wasn't breaking down. I allow myself one cheat meal a week and they made ery disappointed. Staff is pretty clueless too. Won't come back to this location. UPDATE: I called the same day of my order telling them I didn't get any dressing for my Caesar salad and they said they'd send me a free meal voucher. They took my address and everything. Things have changed, and not for the better. Our last visit prior to last night was in June. The temps were in the upper 90s, and this is the night they have a roaring fire?! Last night fell below even average. My husband had the chicken friand. It looked different from previous times he ordered it, it was mostly mushrooms but at the end there was a large, black, inedible piece. He was pretty disappointed. My pesto pasta was fine, except whoever cuts the chicken needs to cut it thru. The staff has all changed, this group is not at all friendly or inviting. I was ignored and even bumped into as I sat waiting to ask for a leftovers container. Luckily I didn't need to use the bathroom as the hallway was blocked by a large cart full of silverware and other things. All in all rather disappointing. read more

We went there for the first time today, amidst this whole COVID-19 thing, everything was organized and kept clean. Food was great, had the spinach quiche, avocado toast, and chocolate croissant. Came in for breakfast with my daughter. First of all, this restaurant is comfortable and decorated nicely. We had a good experience with staff. I was less impressed with the food. While the croissant was good, the omelette was just ok. My daughter liked her french toast, but I was less impressed. I believe the bread was a croissant and it was covered in canned mandarin oranges and fresh blueberries and strawberries. I thought this was an odd combination, especially with the canned and fresh. I probably won't go back simply because I haven't found anything here I really like to eat. It might be nice for coffee. read more

Had the Sacher Torte and a coconut macaroon, along with a cup of dark coffee. The Torte was moist and deliciously, ridiculously, chocolaty with a Raspberry filling that tasted like raspberries. It was rich and more than enough for 2 people to share. The coconut macaroon was toasty and chewy, with a true flavor. It was enough in the 2-3 bites it took to eat. The coffee was strong and the staff were friendly and helpful. We were disappointed earlier in having Decadent Bakery, this more than made up for it. read more

Just had a wonderful chicken salad sandwich (the best in Lubbock for sure). Had whole sandwich with choice of two sides for $10.00. This fed me and my 94 y/o mother perfectly. She had 1/2 sandwich with a cup of potato soup while I had the other 1/2 with a nice cranberry and pecan salad. Met both of our needs and desire while being cost effective. La Madeline's food has always been a favorite for myself and my family. Dinning in was always pleasant, but the to go service has declined significantly. We had actually stopped going all together. Was super disappointed by my experience there yesterday. I ordered a caesar salad with salmon to be told they were "completely out of salmon for the day". Fine. I ordered something else- which was not made correctly. As i was leaving, i saw 2 people receive caesar salads with salmon- after i had been told they were out for the day. Was a disappointment! We were so excited to get a La Madeline on the south side of Lubbock. We have tried this location several times and it seems the service gets worse each time. Today may have been the last last straw, I walked up to place a take out order and the lady was fiddling with the coffee maker. It took her a full five minutes to even acknowledge I was standing there and once she did she could not have been more rude. Oh Le Madeleine! You have to get yourself together! Lunch yesterday at 1:00pm. Very friendly cashier but struggled with taking our order. Four staff came by with wrong food order. We drank cold coffee while we waited and as I watched no fewer than 5 people return plates to the cashier for wrong orders. One order that came by looked familiar so I asked the staff what was on the plate, his response, "I wouldn't know. I just started". He was number 4 so I asked if he could send someone who knows what's what. That's when the manager came by and explained. Our order (turkey and cranberry puff pastry) apparently wasn't available so we ended up w chicken friand. They gave us the wrong soup order also. The flavor was good but the food was not hot - and it was 27 degrees outside!! We thoroughly enjoyed our blackberry cream cheese croissant but, unfortunately, they never did get the coffee hot. I lived in Dallas for years, and have always been a huge fan of the stores. there. While living in Georgetown/DC a few years ago, I was so delighted to have one there too. I was happy Lubbock was getting two, but one already closed. 8/10 visits this one, at Kingsgate, is out of the Almond croissants. When they do have them, they are often soggy, and just not the delicate balance they should be. The staff is often unresponsive and surly. This morning, however was a new low. Although early in the day, the condiments, were not stocked. There were THREE sugar in the raw packets. THREE. There were no lemons, out. I usually get water, but as they were out of lemons, I got tea. It wasn't good, either. The croissants were soggy, and just the worst, I've ever had. The tables were dirty, and unkempt. An employee, Amanda, was LITERALLY kicking chairs, and acting like a miserable bitch. There were crumbs, etc., uncleaned. To top it off, the manageress then approached me and rudely told me I hadn't paid for TEA, and tried to bill me, for the un finished glass on my table. SERIOUSLY. I was embarrassed as I had been introducing the place to a friend, telling them how good the food is. IT WAS NOT. I will NOT be back. I will wait until my visits to the metroplex to go back to one. I wish I'd tipped the table over, so Amanda would have extra work. read more

The croque monsieur was super dry and luke warm despite them obviously sitting on a warmer. The French Onion soup was cold and super salty, so cold that the cheese geared into it didn't melt at all. We wake up on a Sunday morning and wonder where can we get a decent cup of coffee and a reasonable breakfast. Not an easy question to answer in Lubbock. La Madeleine, perhaps? Think again. We went to the La Madeleine at Quaker and 82nd in Lubbock, TX. We both ordered the French Country breakfast, my wife's with bacon and mine with sausage. We wanted a reasonably good cup of coffee. No luck. The French Roast was out and never again appeared. Coffee for morning breakfast is a rather minimal expectation, do you think? The American Roast presented an alternative that was barely brown water. Went to look for a table. I counted 11 tables that were still filled with past-patrons dirty dishes and 7 available tables. The luke warm food arrived. I got bacon instead of sausage and had to return to the order area to get it right...the food grows ever more cold while I wait to get what I ordered. This place had all the ear marks of an understaffed, underpaid restaurant where the owner is trying to cut every corner possible to try and squeeze as much money as possible out of the establishment...customers be damned. There used to be a La Madeleine at the corner strip mall at 19th and Quaker. It was also really bad. At some point, a year or two ago, the chain opened a restaurant at the 82nd and Quaker...my guess is that it is managed by the same owners as its prior incarnation at 19th and Quaker. I have eaten at other La Madeleine's in the DFW area and never had the dismal experience, service or food that I experienced at the Lubbock venues. Avoid the barely warm food, the dirty tables and lack of coffee at this hole. read more

Just returned from the new La Madelein in Kingsgate. Ordered roasted roasmary chicken with sides for takeout. Cashier was friendly went to the serving window to make sure that one was ready for takeout. Sadly, after getting home, I see that the chicken seems to have been roasted for far too long (nearly to the point of being burnt. Positive, the sides were okay, but it is difficult to ruin rice or steamed broccoli. Not really executing well, yet.f read more
