10/10 this is the best experience I've ever had at a Souper Salad! This location is one of three left in America and if you go, you will see why it thrived when the others closed down. The food was fresh, and there was no hint of artificial ingredients anywhere on the buffet line. When I went, I was greeted at the cashier station by the general manager, who was a delightfully happy individual. My favorite aspect, apart from the amazing food, was the ambience which served as some excellent 1990s throwback. It's so hard to find a good salad bar/buffet these days, and when you do it's usually one aspect of another type of restaurant or all you can eat buffet. The only other place I can even think of is Jason's Deli. So suffice it to say I was pretty happy when Souper Salad popped up as an option in Lubbock along the way of our road trip! A recent review from just a couple days ago had nothing good to say, so even though I was excited for all you can eat salad (a vegetarian's dream) I was a little leery that it might kinda suck. But no disappointment here! Service was friendly, and they gave us a military discount. Price was already reasonable at about $35 for two adults and a kid, but the military discount brought us down to $27 total. The restaurant was clean with servers and bussers constantly making rounds to keep the buffet tidy and tables clean. The options were so much more than I expected, too. Potato/sweet potato bar. Taco/nacho station. 6 or 7 hot soups. Pizza. Breads. Ice cream, fresh fruit, and desserts. And of course the salad with a plethora of topping and dressing options. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for other Souper Salads from now on! read more

we were looking for a quick, quiet place to get together and Todd, the manager at SouperSalad in Lubbock came to our rescue!! We reserved a table for 10 but only 8 showed up. We had promises for 4-8 more, and Todd 'no worries, we got you covered'. Big parking lot in a plaza. The cashier is always friendly when we go in. The servers not so much. The cashier is usually the one who's bringing out our drinks and refilling them. I'm not sure his name, he's a super thing older African-American man. He's super polite and sweet. He's always helping clean the tables too. The food is always great, this is by far my favorite buffet to come to. Every time i've come here, I never see any mangers out in the buffet area helping the employees, or greeting and talking with customers which is odd for a restaurant. I hadn't eaten at a Souper Salad in years and was a little apprehensive when my date suggested it but I'm so happy he did..everything was fresh and proper temperature..plenty of salad choices and he got pizza, I didn't but he said it was good. I think 6 soup choices with descriptions of each one, which I appreciated..he had beef vegetable and I had the chicken poblano..we were too full to try the taco/potato bar but did enjoy soft serve ice cream cones..looking forward to going back! read more

Haven't been to a Souper/Salad in years. We stopped in for a late and lite lunch today. The pricing wasn't too bad in my opinion as they did offer tuna, cubed ham and hard boiled eggs on the actual salad line. Everything was fresh, replenished rapidly and spills cleaned up right away. The Texas Best Salad of 2017 was really very good with fresh greens, apple slices, walnuts and a Raspberry Vinaigrette that was very good in itself (offered separately). There are light desserts such as cubed pound cake, with strawberry topping and whipped cream, chocolate pudding, fresh fruit, etc. I had a thin slice of veggie pizza which was as good as a chain pizza place. I liked it. The Chicken Enchilada Soup was flavorful too. Included is a Potato Bar and Taco Bar as well, but I passed on that. The topping is the ice cream machine with a cone. The cashier was very polite and Tony, our waiter and was extremely attentive, polite and represented the restaurant in a very positive manner. read more

Cashier in a hurry & not very friendly. (He's the owner!). As I filled my plate, a kitchen worker, cleaning the salad bar, coughed directly on the food ahead of me. She didn't turn her head or cover her mouth. It was a deep wet cough. I told the owner, thinking he'd want to address that, but he just looked at me. I asked if he'd address it, he had No response. We love to eat here, but I was hesitant about a salad bar without self serve. Wipe that out of your mind. The experience was good. The only reason I put 4 was having to wait a little at the hot bar and not seeing our waitress much. But Natty saved the day. I hadn't been here in quite a while so I was interested in Che this place out again. I have to say I was a bit disappointed in what I found. The signature salad was no longer available. The big bowl of fresh strawberries at the end of the buffet was gone. The buffet line itself wasn't as clean as it used to be. The pizza looked very dry as if it had been there a while. And our waitress never asked if we wanted refills until right as we where about to leave. Overall I'd have to say the quality of this place has gone down since that Jaime guy ran it. Solid good place!! Great value! Family of 3 for under $35. Wife and I were like $9 each and kids were $6 each. Lots of options at the salad bar! Everything was fresh, tasty and the staff was on top of it being refilled and clean. It's a buffet so you can go back as much as u want. This location was struggling before new ownership a about 5 years ago resurrected it. The owner is usually running the register and is very friendly and hands on, always working to keep the salad bar full and free of drippings. Theirs is Lubbock's largest salad bar with the widest variety. When coupled with a great selection of soups, pizza, breads, some pasta and taco and baked potato bars, you'll be plenty full. Top off your meal with strawberry shortcake or self serve soft serve cream! I love the Christian music playing overhead! This is one of the better deals around. Good salad bar with nice fresh veggies. I like that they include blue cheese that you can crumble over your salad. They have several choices of soup that are also really good, bread sticks, cornbread and a couple of kinds of muffins. There is pizza which is kind of floppy but still not bad, a baked potato bar, and pasta. Really a pretty decent selection. One of the few misfires is the nachos with really bland ground beef, definitely skip that one. Taking away a star for the Christian pop music that's always playing but during busy times you can barely hear it anyway. read more

Different soup options, pizza is great, seasonal fruit and they have a taco/spaghetti/potato bar with toppings. And for those who eat meat they have ground beef, pepperoni pizza and meaty soups. Usually I get great service here but my boyfriend and I stopped by today and the service was horrible only two people working the other and the two other ladies were sitting down on their phones. My family and I went to this establishment on Friday. The first thing I see is the bowl of, what looked like, a week old lettuce. I usually stay away from the soups and other hot foods, as they are usually salty and not that great, which is why I gave 4 stars. Fair price and something for everyone. Let me say that I'm comparing this buffet with Golden Corral, Soup Plantation, Vegas and city buffets. It is by far the worst one I've been to. First of all, the hosts are the only nice people who work there. The servers are un-educated young people who tend to be very rude. The last server I had dumped someone else's tray at my table even though we left a purse and sunglasses to signal that we were still there. She then gave us an attitude for the rest of our dining experience to where we had to sneak out because we didn't leave a tip. Food: some of the soups are bland. Some of the salads with dressing are bland. That leaves you with consistently stale taco shells and a trip back to the salad bar to add lettuce to your taco. The pizza and muffins are good. Of course the soft serve which is pre-processed is good. So half of the food is good. But add the bad wait staff and it is not worth the $8 and dark lighting when you can go over to Golden Corral, get steak and a better selection of flavors and service.
