We've eaten here for lunch for years, thought we would try breakfast. We ordered 2 Florentine Quiche, 2 Galette's and 2 coffees. Quiche was adequate, could have been warmer. The Galette was a cold hard potato cake, don't give it a fancy name when it's not fancy! Very disappointed, I would bet my life both items came frozen from Sysco. I placed an online order December 19th for pecan tarts and scheduled a pickup December 24th at 10:15. They called to tell me that they sold out. They had plenty of time to prepare the order but instead dropped the ball. I was taking these to a Christmas party for family and friends. I was told they would refund my money like they were doing me a favor. Maybe you need to call Stella's and talk to Billy, Will, and Jeff to consult on how to run a restaurant and catering business. Family went for lunch one day, around 11am and ordered the Florentine quiche. Very disappointed because even though it was early in the day and rush had not begun, the quiche was not hot and was rubbery. Like it had been under warmer too long. I love this place. Have eaten at La Madeleine for well over 30 years, way before they came to Lubbock, but just very disappointed in quality of food nowadays. Very disappointed-hours of operation open until 9:00 pm. Arrived at 7:15 pm and was told we would have to wait 30 for chicken friand.

I ordered through Amazon Grubhub. The bread was horrible (like dry thick sourdough, basically eating thick flour). The salad had rotten pieces in it and was very small (like a side salad), though I was charged $16 bucks for that. When a place says they stay open until 9, they shouldn't close things down before then. As a long time waitress growing up, it would have been great to walk out the door when closing time hit- but that is when we stopped serving- not before- and then we could finish our close out. What's with these places stopping service before closing time? Put different hours in your door, please if you are going to close early. The food tonight was pretty good tonight with crisp green beans, tender chicken and hot and delicious rice pilaf. The restaurant said they were out of butter for the bread which was little odd they couldn't round any up from the kitchen in a bakery and restaurant, but OK- it was healthier without it. However, I was drinking iced tea in a to-go cup to grab some extra on the way out. They close at 9 and as we arrived at 8:15 we didn't dawdle or take our time and were ready to leave at 8:45- not 8:50, 8:55 or 9- and regardless, if they didn't close until 9 and we were still in the restaurant drinking tea - why is it they felt compelled to pick up the only tea in the place and throw it out without saying anything to us?? I have had this happen before at another place and find it incredibly rude. When I asked if they still had the tea- the answer wasn't I'm sorry even, but no- we already threw that out. Alrighty then - if you all are so worried about closing before closing time that you can't even offer a refill of tea to your customers who are drinking tea, so you can get those containers to the dishwasher, you don't have my business anymore- and I am a frequent visitor. Show some kind of care for your customers- we even tipped you before we had our meal- and I don't even know why since all you did was bring our plates and never check on us again- and couldn't be bothered to ask us for a refill before you threw out our drinks. Food is always good. Never any problems with quality. Issue is always delivery. Last order half the meal was left at restaurant (door dashers fault probably). The two orders before that there was at least one item left out ( not sore dashers fault). We will definitely continue to eat here but we will either pick it up (and check order) ourselves or eat in. We door dash a lot it it just seems for some reason this restaurant and door dash don't work together well. read more

Whether it's pick up or delivery something always goes wrong. A couple good employees but most of the time I feel like I'm annoying the workers when I need help. My favorite was the turkey and Brie sandwich, but the last 4 times I've ordered it it's been legit a toasted baguette (lucky if it's not burnt) and turkey. If I get lucky I'd get a sliver of Brie. No goat cheese either, which is what this sandwich comes with!! Every order has something missing, literally!! EVERY TIME WE'VE ORDERED we have had at least one item missing. I ordered the Pesto Pasta with shrimp, tomato soup, and the lemon blueberry danish. The pesto pasta was missing ingredients and just looked like it was thrown together. It literally looked like a microwave meal I can buy at the grocery store.. Second time here--I was super impressed the first time with a seasonal turkey and cranberry sandwich (the cranberry mayo was more savory than sweet, and it worked really, really well with the smokey turkey). Second time I got a French dip sandwich with the cream of mushroom soup. The soup is fantastic, and I will be craving it later--creamy, earthy, and a bit salty. The French dip was good, not the best: the au jus was a little watery, and I think that's what kept everything from being stellar. Still, the ambiance is nice (rustic French country) if you can deal with the hard wooden chairs, and they offer free reliable internet here, so I can get some work done when I come here. La Madeleine is certainly a preferable option to what Panera has become, and I will be back, no question! If you just come for the pastries, I'd give it a five star. They have some really, really good desserts. Probably the best you're going to get in Lubbock. The bakeries in Lubbock are--let's face it--lackluster. 1st time ordering takeout from here. Pulled into curbside at 5:20pm, called 3x, no one ever picked up the phone. Outside the cafe their was a heavy set lady and a heavy set guy visiting with a group of people, these 2 were wearing employee shirts. They went inside and I too went inside. I went to the take out counter and I only saw one employee, she was a young girl at the dine in/order side. She was busy helping the dine in customers, clearly overwhelmed. I could see my order sprawled out on the counter because my name was on the ticket. She came over and tried to help sack my order but walked away when more people wanted to order dine in and told me she had already called for help, but no one came. She was very, very overwhelmed as people kept coming in. Finally the same lady and guy from outside came to help her after about 10-12 minutes of visiting with others in the dining area.
