How do you rate a chain restaurant? The vibe is nice - there's indoor and outdoor spaces with french music in the background. The menu has a wide selection. I really wanted to love this place and make this my go-to cafe since I've been to France (and miss traveling!). Unfortunately besides the vibe, the food is subpar and the service is confusing. I haven't been to other la Madeleine's so I can't compare the food quality. Besides the potato galette, everything else tastes store-bought. There are little things they could do to elevate each dish. For example...roast the tomato with olive oil and salt instead of serving it raw. Little things. Now the service...oof. I've been here a couple times and most of the time it is "passable". However my most recent visit was uncomfortable enough to make me reconsider returning. I approached the counter and the lady silently puts on her gloves and then stares at me. Okay? First I order a drink. Immediately she responds with "That's it?" in a weird attitude. I shook it off and then ordered a pastry. She says it AGAIN. The whole experience was unpleasant. It was too darn early for someone to be throwing random shade at me. REALLY FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE. We went here in the first week and they had those amazing Nutella Muffins... we remember them with so much nutella that we HAD to share it, we then invited friends to check it out, however, now they barelly have nutella in them and the experience is sorta ruined... can't recommend it anymore! read more

My first mistake was not reading the yelp reviews on this location prior to ordering. I haven't been to La Madeleine in awhile, but pre Covid I would frequent both the Oaklawn & Las Colinas locations - never a bad experience. Either something has changed or this location is not up to par. I ordered 2 chicken caesar sandwiches, tomato basil soup, pasta salad & a ham & swiss croissant. The chicken on the sandwich is the same as the fully cooked grilled chicken strips in the refrigerator section at the grocery store. It is not balsamic shaved chicken. The pasta salad was once bow tie - it's not anymore? The ham & swiss croissant came cold; they could have warmed it at least. The soup was standard, but I couldn't get past the chicken. The 2 stars are for the friendly staff. I realize that the free bread went away during the pandemic but you guys have chosen to not do it again. We have to ask for it now. Imagine the money as a company y'all are saving now because of that. But not only were we charged like $3.50 for a drink, which is ridiculous, but my husband noticed a beverage tax of .50 that was added, which means we paid closer to $4 a drink. So between the lack of fresh bread available and the ridiculous drink tax that was added, I'm not sure we will go back. So disappointed. read more

I came here to eat lunch with a friend and ordered a PSL and a turkey Brie sandwich with a Cesar salad. The PSL was just ok, coffee wasn't really that great. The turkey Brie sandwich was pretty good and I dipped it in strawberry jam. I liked the addition of the apples I just wish the sandwich was actually warm. I really wanted to like this place. So much so that I even showed up one day early by mistake. I know that they are new, but they have staff from other locations onsite to monitor the service. Ordered online for pick up and it was a disaster: - Double Cappuccino - was ice cold and filled only 1/3rd of the large cup that they put it into. Surprised when I asked for sugar that the girl disappeared for 5 minutes because nobody knew where the sugar was being kept; - Pasta salad side was rancid - can't believe that they would even serve something with that kind of smell when you open the container; - Tomato basil soup - tasty, but also ice cold; - Salad - how can you charge a customer the same price as the Salata just across the street and only provide 1/3rd of the serving size? The restaurant is set up cafeteria style with the menus at the front door. I missed them upon entry because the cafeteria setup threw me off. I ordered the Novoux breakfast with an extra egg. That extra egg cost me 2.99! Only to find out, they looked and tasted like they came out of one of those commercial egg bags. I'll eat the real egg next time and only one of them. I give 4 stars for good customer service. My breakfast was brought to me and then, the lady went and brought me my silverware, napkins and salt/pepper. Used to love this place, and it's not just this location that sucks now, it's all of them. Got some gift cards for Christmas, boyfriend had never been so we went for a late lunch yesterday at 3PM. It wasn't busy, there were lots of empty tables but they were all dirty. Not just needed to be wiped dirty, covered with dishes dirty. Ordered my usual, Salade Sampler, added grilled chicken to my Caesar salad, since when is it cold and just scooped out of a container?? It used to be warm, wrapped in foil that they pulled out of a warmer and it actually tasted good, this was NOT balsamic marinated grilled chicken, this was like Panera chicken, GROSS. No cheese on my tomato basil soup, and the Romanoff sauce, what happened to that?? It used to be thick and delicious, now it's, watery, thin and has barely any flavor. Not to mention the strawberries used to be whole or just cut in half, now they are little mushy pieces, scooped out of a container like the chicken. He ordered the French Dip, took 20 minutes to come out, I was done eating, his soup had gotten cold waiting and the sandwich was sad, very little meat, lots of bread, literally five 1/2" x 1/2" pieces of caramelized onion and zero of the horseradish mayonnaise. He brought it back, 10 minutes later the manager brought it to the table and all they did was added a little more meat and spread it out. 3 stars for these reasons: In order to make a business above and beyond trickles down to the owner and management doing more than just the 9-5. Ensuring guests are treated above and beyond with positivity through their employees. Customer service makes the food that much better. Secondly, there are no sustainable options at all, should consider an investment although it is harder in Texas due to circumstances but you have to start somewhere. Cups could be compostable along with coffee cups and other items. Plastic packaging for the bread and jam is a waste of plastic and waste of food if just handed and not asked if the people want it. Styrofoam is awful for the environment as it cannot be broken down or recycled ever. Composting and recycling should be highly considered for a successful future. Other than that restaurant is clean and beautiful and decently great food. read more

Decided to have breakfast with the family this time (4). No one greets you, smiles, or seems happy at this location (this is my 4th visit). Our meal was calculated or entered incorrectly at first, $84. I believe the check out person was new, a supervisor looked at the order and corrected it. No big deal it happens. Although I do wish the supervisor addressed us, or even just acknowledged us. She gave the impression that we were a bother. Our food came out quickly. My youngest daughters order was wrong, she ordered some type of strawberry French toast, they gave us regular French toast then to correct it brought us a side of strawberries. It still didn't match the description on the menu but oh well. As normal the restaurant is clean, the food is hot and good but the service isn't spectacular. We miss the McKinney location, it was our traditional Sunday breakfast spot. The staff was beyond friendly and they always greeted you at the door! read more

Was craving an omelette for dinner and every few places have them so brought the family here! Everything we ordered was fantastic.... Egg white omelette, onion soup, some sort of sandwich with an egg on top (French name on menu) and a 4 cheese grilled cheese. Food was served hot and it was all so good. Service was great except my omelette came out after my family was already finished eating. That was the only miss of the evening but things happen. We will definitely be back! Went for breakfast and coffee with my husband it was a bit confusing at first as to how the system works. There is a small sign hanging from ceiling but this being my first time at La Madeleine I didn't know it was tray/number type service. We figured it out and we were very happy with our meals. They did forget our coffees but they quickly got them out to us. Since we enjoyed our meal so much I decided to takeout for the kiddos at home. I waited well over 45minutes for one order of French toast and fruit tart. The ladies near me waited far longer. A worker who I can only assume is a manager gave everyone waiting a cup for a drink since the wait was sooo long.(which I thought was nice) Except, I didn't get asked or given one since I had a cup of almost finished iced coffee in my hand. (I would've offered it anyways) When I finally received my food, I looked to make sure I got the right thing since this place was going crazy at this point and while I was checking I overheard the lady who was there before me say "excuse me...I was here 30min before her and I still haven't gotten my food." That's insane how patient this lady was...that means she was already waiting...well over an hour and 15mins. They have a terrible system overall and need to work out A LOT of kinks. I should also note that the French toast was soggy and ice cold by the time it arrived home. They should consider putting the sauce and strawberries in a separate container. Ive never had that problem with IHOP Or Starwood take-outs, so I know it's possible. It was my first and last time going going to La Madeline with my fiancé. And we were hoping all the hype would be there like they say it would be, but the sad truth is, it wasn't. Our soup was cold and so were our (supposed) to be warm sandwiches, and my salad was warm and soggy like it's been sitting under a heat lamp for half the day and the dressing smelled like sweaty gym socks and tasted like an old foot locker. And one of the workers there looked to be new but who knows wasn't wearing a hair net or a hat and had your hair all the way down and her hair was too close to the food and she wasn't wearing any gloves while prepping the food. Just opened and it's nice to have a La Madeline in town, too bad they got our ' To Go' order wrong. We walked in to the to go counter, there were two sections - dine in and to go. The dine in was busy, but was running smooth and the To Go was dead. My husband ordered a pesto pasta with extra bread and bowl of tomato soup. The lady kept interrupting and joking around while he was trying to say his order, which is fine if the order comes out right. We got home and she had not included extra bread and gave him a Caesar salad add on he didn't want. He didn't get the soup he asked for. This is the first time we have ordered from your restaurant and I will Never order again. At a time when we are reluctant to dine in, we still want to support restaurants and are picky about where we order. I ordered a Nouveau Breakfast. My family ordered other dishes which were also bad but I will focus on one for this review. The picture of their Nouveau Breakfast versus what I received were starkly different. Your staff should have Never used black avocado on my toast. First it was skimpy in serving and way over ripe. I wasn't able to eat it AT ALL. Additionally, there was no bacon. Shame on you for thinking that it was acceptable to charge me for garbage. You wouldn't eat black Avocado crap On your toast so don't serve it. Food is good like always, but the staff is not very welcoming or helpful. Going in, it is a little confusing on how to order you food and the staff doesn't say anything or correct you until you're done speaking.
