    Old Brick Interior
    Ruslan W.

Spoon's Café - Downtown (McKinney) Nothing really to brag home about. Food was average, if you can qualify it as average. Home cooked meals taste better. Service was ok, not great. Came here with my family to enjoy a good lunch and service. They have a large picture of "D Magazine" claiming that they are good. That's certainly not accurate. I did like the old feel to it, with old brick throughout interior. Made you feel like you stepped back in time. However, service was poor. As new customers were walking in, including my family, they would sit us down at a dirty table and ask if we wanted it wiped clean. That's very unprofessional and I'm surprised the health department hasn't paid them a visit. The pink rose cake looked very creative and delicious on the display. The old and foggy cover on it, wasn't. It looked like it was purchased from Antique store. Food was very blend and average. Not sure in good faith I'd recommend this place.

Food was good and service was fast. Can't beat these prices for what you are getting. Everything was fresh and the portions are large. Love the double layering of bread in the Classic Club. Guac was exceptionally good and fresh. We sat on the patio which was really nice. It is a cute spot in a cute town. Service was rushed. Our waiter took our order, gave our food and never came back. We had to ask another table for their stand of condiments and silverware. I do think they were getting ready to close. Overall, good experience.

My lady and I were on a Saturday day trip To McKinney to check out a car show in downtown. Needed some ac & some food. There it was, Spoons Cafe, walked in and met with a smile and a welcome, the place had old school general store slash diner vibe, had to wait a bit for a table, remember there was a car show outside and it was 100 degrees outside. Once seated waitress was on point. I had the Low Rider panini sandwich, my lady had a BLT, yes car show, Low Rider sandwich. It was great, fresh & tasty. Oh, yes the car show was great, a lot of cool cars. If you're in town visiting, plug this one in the gps, if you're local you already now. Stay safe.

Walking around McKinney in the old downtown area is an experience in and of itself. While doing so, we came upon what appeared to be a hotspot on the square, that is Spoons Cafe. Any place that sucks cannot draw crowds like these folks draw, so we came in to give them a try! Walking in you are taken by the history that these brick walls and wooden ceilings must have seen over the years. There is an ambiance of yesteryear. Though it was afternoon, I was thrilled to see they serve breakfast all day. I always wonder why more places don't do that, it just seems basic, but I digress... I ordered a waffle, bacon and egg. I have to given them their props, they delivered! The waffle...delicious. My over medium egg, perfectly cooked, and my bacon, nice and crispy! I can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu! Spoons Chicken Salad Plate
    Jessica S.

Went to Spoons with some friends, and we basically turned it into a little taste-test party because we all ordered something different. Spoiler alert: everything was yummy. I ordered the Chicken Salad Plate and my friend got it as a sandwich. Both were great, but I have to say mine won! No bread meant I got to dive into all the fresh veggies without feeling carb-coma afterwards. Now, let's talk about the real star of the show: the lemonades (10/10). I had raspberry and my friend had strawberry. You can actually taste the difference in flavors, and it's fun to sip-swap just to compare. You can tell they're handmade with love.

    The club and tomato soup

I work on the square and finally tried the famous spoons i had been craving a club and it hit the spot the tomato soup was perfect also.

A bit crowded. I was told to go to the back to order my food. But everyone in the back seemed stunned at me. When I asked if I could place an order to go, no one answered. They just stared! It's not lost on me that there are barely any Black people in McKinney. The food was nice enough - I ordered Eggs Benedict and even tipped, despite my food being to go. But next time, I'll look for somewhere classier and not afraid of Black people.

Best breakfast restaurant in McKinney. Wonderful atmosphere and the food is amazing. We had the chicken and waffle, chicken was seasoned and cooked to perfection and the waffle was delicious. Everything is cooked in the kitchen which is open to the restaurant. We will definitely be back.

Great food, atmosphere and service. The dish I can recommend is to try any of them. You won't be disappointed.

    Santa Fe Salad
    Beth W.

A coworker recommended we try Spoons Cafe and we're glad we finally had a chance to check it out. We came for lunch on a Sunday in December. There was a lot going on downtown that day so parking was a bit of a premium. It was a beautiful day so we didn't mind a bit of a walk. We ordered two items to share: The Big Tex Panini with Tomato Basil soup and the Santa Fe Salad. The panini was such a treat with the pimento cheese, jalapeños, and bacon. Picking the soup as the side was the perfect combo. It was basically like a Texas variety of a delicious grilled cheese and soup for dipping! The salad had a good portion of the chicken and it was nice to already have it shredded with the other ingredients. The ambiance of Spoons features the history of the downtown area with an old cafe vibe. The servers were friendly and it was impressive to see them maneuver between the tight space between tables.

Burned burger if that's your thing.

I am not usually a dark beer guy but the server talked me into their schwarzbier and I ended up ordering a second one. If you are into porters and stouts they have you covered, and if you lean lighter there is plenty on the board too. The food held its own right alongside the beer. I went with the burger and it hit exactly the way a good pub burger should, juicy with a solid char and fries that actually get finished. My wife ordered the pappardelle on a recommendation from the table next to us and she was not sharing much of it, which tells you everything. We started with the chips and queso and cleared the bowl before the entrees even landed. Great vibe inside, big patio, and the service kept our drinks full the whole time. The downtown McKinney location is ideal and easy walking distance to other shops and restaurants, so no need to keep driving around. Food was great. The burger was juicy and flavorful even well done. The salmon was also well done with crispy edges and a slab of butter that melted right over it great flavor. Hoping that butter option is available for the steak because that's next on my list. Sides were solid too. Only thing I wasn't big on was the fries. They're super thin, so they were crispy but had a slightly hard, borderline stale texture. Just my opinion though. overall still a great experience. Definitely coming back. Burger and salmon were outstanding, customer service was great, and the atmosphere makes it a spot worth checking out with family or friends.

We told our server that between me and my wife, we will be sharing the chicken sandwich and hence requested that it be sliced into 2. Not only were the burgers sliced, it was served in separate plates with sides as well - that was a really nice touch. Cali was a bit bland, Buffalo and Burg B Q were both really nice. We love downtown McKinney and so many establishments have that southern charm, friendly service, and just love people. We always bring in a group of paying patrons. Early on we felt there was a clickish vibe, but never thought anything about it. We make friends everywhere, since we are travelers . Last few months we noticed a shift, bartender ruder, lack of service, the regulars shifting their gaze as if something was wrong. Last night ended that for us, and I'm sure they will be thrilled. Our bonus son chose to come here for his celebratory event. We invited a variety of people we knew, local talents, professionals, and family. Hateful comments about having a few balloons and party hats and how "you BETTER clean all that UP, I'm not doing it." We were treated with disdain. No service, each person had to get our own menu when we were ready to order, , and silverware after food was served, no one took our drink orders, when we went to the bar-our tabs were closed after each drink order. The bartender, Chevon, (who is always there) was rude and ugly to our whole group and to those she didn't even know was in our group. The new DJ, (Shawn) skipped over our friend twice. Chevron (bartender) who didn't know the person she was speaking to was my sister, said "I hate that guy, all he sings is rock songs." I mean... it karaoke. And that guy she's talking about has been bringing a group of people here for over a year. So carry on the "high school drama" there are a ton of places in McKinney that are lovely and welcoming. When you are hateful to singers, doctors, nurses, business owners, and veterans... that news will travel fast. And as rude and ugly as this review is, it's not near as rude or ugly as we were treated, individually and as a group. If you are gonna be bias to people, you don't need to be serving them. It's sad, because I know Karen and what Spoons means to her and her family. I hope they clean house and start over in the back. FYI (Shawn was a really nice DJ, he was so kind to people celebrating others.) But other than that, I wouldn't recommend The Garage for any new Collin County resident, any bridal party, bachelor party, or group celebrating anything... you can DM me and I'll give you a personal list of plenty of places to go. Many of them walking distance.
