Came here on Saturday morning with a party of 5 after checking out the McKinney farmers market. They got us in right away, and the service was great. The coffees were AMAZING!!! Food was ok, but the portions are really big so you get a lot of bang for your buck. Plan to share unless you want leftovers! But I'll definitely be back.

Spoon's Café - Downtown (McKinney) Nothing really to brag home about. Food was average, if you can qualify it as average. Home cooked meals taste better. Service was ok, not great. Came here with my family to enjoy a good lunch and service. They have a large picture of "D Magazine" claiming that they are good. That's certainly not accurate. I did like the old feel to it, with old brick throughout interior. Made you feel like you stepped back in time. However, service was poor. As new customers were walking in, including my family, they would sit us down at a dirty table and ask if we wanted it wiped clean. That's very unprofessional and I'm surprised the health department hasn't paid them a visit. The pink rose cake looked very creative and delicious on the display. The old and foggy cover on it, wasn't. It looked like it was purchased from Antique store. Food was very blend and average. Not sure in good faith I'd recommend this place.

My lady and I were on a Saturday day trip To McKinney to check out a car show in downtown. Needed some ac & some food. There it was, Spoons Cafe, walked in and met with a smile and a welcome, the place had old school general store slash diner vibe, had to wait a bit for a table, remember there was a car show outside and it was 100 degrees outside. Once seated waitress was on point. I had the Low Rider panini sandwich, my lady had a BLT, yes car show, Low Rider sandwich. It was great, fresh & tasty. Oh, yes the car show was great, a lot of cool cars. If you're in town visiting, plug this one in the gps, if you're local you already now. Stay safe.

Walking around McKinney in the old downtown area is an experience in and of itself. While doing so, we came upon what appeared to be a hotspot on the square, that is Spoons Cafe. Any place that sucks cannot draw crowds like these folks draw, so we came in to give them a try! Walking in you are taken by the history that these brick walls and wooden ceilings must have seen over the years. There is an ambiance of yesteryear. Though it was afternoon, I was thrilled to see they serve breakfast all day. I always wonder why more places don't do that, it just seems basic, but I digress... I ordered a waffle, bacon and egg. I have to given them their props, they delivered! The waffle...delicious. My over medium egg, perfectly cooked, and my bacon, nice and crispy! I can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu! Spoons Chicken Salad Plate
    Jessica S.

Went to Spoons with some friends, and we basically turned it into a little taste-test party because we all ordered something different. Spoiler alert: everything was yummy. I ordered the Chicken Salad Plate and my friend got it as a sandwich. Both were great, but I have to say mine won! No bread meant I got to dive into all the fresh veggies without feeling carb-coma afterwards. Now, let's talk about the real star of the show: the lemonades (10/10). I had raspberry and my friend had strawberry. You can actually taste the difference in flavors, and it's fun to sip-swap just to compare. You can tell they're handmade with love.

    The club and tomato soup

I work on the square and finally tried the famous spoons i had been craving a club and it hit the spot the tomato soup was perfect also.

A bit crowded. I was told to go to the back to order my food. But everyone in the back seemed stunned at me. When I asked if I could place an order to go, no one answered. They just stared! It's not lost on me that there are barely any Black people in McKinney. The food was nice enough - I ordered Eggs Benedict and even tipped, despite my food being to go. But next time, I'll look for somewhere classier and not afraid of Black people.

Best breakfast restaurant in McKinney. Wonderful atmosphere and the food is amazing. We had the chicken and waffle, chicken was seasoned and cooked to perfection and the waffle was delicious. Everything is cooked in the kitchen which is open to the restaurant. We will definitely be back.

Great food, atmosphere and service. The dish I can recommend is to try any of them. You won't be disappointed.

    Santa Fe Salad
    Beth W.

A coworker recommended we try Spoons Cafe and we're glad we finally had a chance to check it out. We came for lunch on a Sunday in December. There was a lot going on downtown that day so parking was a bit of a premium. It was a beautiful day so we didn't mind a bit of a walk. We ordered two items to share: The Big Tex Panini with Tomato Basil soup and the Santa Fe Salad. The panini was such a treat with the pimento cheese, jalapeños, and bacon. Picking the soup as the side was the perfect combo. It was basically like a Texas variety of a delicious grilled cheese and soup for dipping! The salad had a good portion of the chicken and it was nice to already have it shredded with the other ingredients. The ambiance of Spoons features the history of the downtown area with an old cafe vibe. The servers were friendly and it was impressive to see them maneuver between the tight space between tables.

Burned burger if that's your thing.

The food is ok, the decor is adorable. But the practice to charge hidden fees is not acceptable. No business should willingly do this.

The menu may look the same, but the quality and preparation of items have changed. For example, the crab cake Benedict used to feature homemade crab cakes, and now it's a fried frozen-style patty. The one-star review is really based on the service experience, and unfortunately it's the reason we won't be returning. While waiting for our table, the manager or possible owner was telling single-party guests there was a 30-minute wait, while parties of three or more were being quoted only 10 minutes. An older woman standing there heard him tell the group in front of her 10 minutes right before he told her 30. The more I thought about it afterward, the more disappointed I was that I didn't speak up in the moment. Treating guests differently based solely on party size is unacceptable and left a very bad impression.

Sent it back, and my wife was finished by the time the replacement came - which again, was about as 'Wag'yu as a pup's tail. They kindly removed cost of my meal, and we got anniversary desert.
