We visited La Madeleine on a cool winter day in January for lunch. My wife had the Chicken Salad Croissant with tomato basil soup, my daughter had a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato basil soup, and I had the Chicken Parisien sandwich with Potato soup. Everyone seemed very satisfied with their food. The staff was attentive and polite. The cafe is smaller than I am accustomed to, but modern and well lit. The atmosphere on the other-hand was chaotic. Most of tables were dirty and not bussed, which end ended up being fine because it was warmer out side than it was inside the restaurant. Brrr, why set the indoor temperature so low in the winter? This is a perfect example why a modern restaurant should have a separate HVAC system for the kitchen than it does for the dining room. The food now often tastes frozen and reheated, and the bakery selection isn't what it used to be before covid. Service has slowed noticeably, and it frequently feels like the staff is understaffed. Tables are rarely cleaned, which makes the dining experience less enjoyable while looking for a place to dine. And those tables that have been cleared off still have crumbs and are sticky. On my most recent visit, my usual order arrived with the bottom overcooked, and the tomato basil soup tasted off--both rancid and overly acidic. Overall I had a positive experience at La Madeleine. They had so many pastry options the service was pretty quick. I came in with my family for lunch and we all got some great sandwiches. I got the Parisien sandwich and it was delicious. I got the full order but I should've gotten the half. Unless you're absolutely starving, I would recommend the half order. I got the pesto pasta salad for my side and that was really good as well. I really like the dining room space they have here. There's lots of big tables that can accommodate larger groups. There were lots of people doing mini Christmas celebrations here likely for that reason as well. read more

I've dine at other La Madeleine locations with nothing but the best service and good, quality food. The location in the FW (Tehama Ridge/Alliance) area is so far below expectations, I'll never return back to this specific one. about 2 weeks ago I decided to stop by (for the first time) and pick up a couple of slices of dessert to try/have for the week. I ordered an individual napoleon and a slice of cheesecake. The associate who helped me was friendly and professional - she did everything she was supposed to do. She placed the 2 slices into a box that was a bit too large for the desserts, and they weren't packed very well (when she took the desserts out of the refrigerator box I could see that neither dessert was fully set and she was literally having to dig into the sides of the dessert in order to pick them up. She was wearing gloves, so I opted not to say anything. However, by the time I drove home (less than 5 minutes away) because of the lack of stability of either dessert when I opened the box it was a mashed up mesh - everything had slid off/around and I literally spent close to $12 to only recover 2 teaspoons worth of dessert. Everything else had to be thrown away. I took the survey at the bottom of my receipt and noted the result of the issue I had. I received a code to receive a complimentary dessert or bakery item on my next visit. During this time I also received a call from the Mgr or Asst Mgr at this location - she offered to send me a couple of complimentary dessert cards to replace the ones I had to throw away, which I thought was kind and fair so I did accept that. A couple of days after my initial visit, after running errands all day I decided to stop and redeem the survey comp'd dessert. Again, the associate at the register was friendly and professional. HOWEVER, the slice of cheesecake I ordered was placed in a box that was 3x too large for a single item AND she picked it up with her BARE HANDS (she did not wash them prior to touching the dessert, either). She put the cheesecake in the box, handed it to me (she did not say anything to at this point) and then turned to help the person behind me. Unfortunately, because I saw her using her bare hands, I ended up throwing away the dessert. I was frustrated that this was the 2nd time in a row that I had a less than decent experience, but I would have been furious had I paid for this cheesecake slice. I contacted the mgr and let her know that I had another unfortunate experience (I was already home by the time she picked up the phone) - she said I could drive back and she would replace the item, but I told her I wasn't able to drive back and that I did not want a replacement. I did ask her to speak with her team about FOOD HANDLING SAFETY (I have my TX Food Handling Safety certification and have worked in bars and restaurants off-and-on since college.). It's extremely concerning to see restaurant team members not adhering to health and safety practices. I'll continue to go to other La Madeleine's but I will not come back to this location (near the Target Shopping Center off Tehama Ridge). read more

I've tried soups, pasta and bakery treats over the years and have enjoyed all of them. La Madeleine has the same calm atmosphere that I remember. Yesterday we went to La madeleine at Fort Worth Presidio Junction. That was a after lunch time,most of the tables weren't cleaned up, and coffee was only French, and American and the Decaf pot was empty so we asked the staff, but they didn't make any new coffee in the 45 minutes we were there. I came here with a group of ladies for a #momsnightout and even checked Yelp before ordering. So I was between the Nutella crepe and the chicken salad croissant. I went with the half croissant and tomato soup, delicious choice!! The pace of service reminds me of Panera Bread or Jason's Deli where you order your cafe-style food and then take your assigned table marker, or in this case a wooden spoon, to your table. The staff will bring your food to your table. The drink selection did include fresh unsweetened tea and mango tea (unsweetened), select coffee choices, and a soda fountain. The mango tea was quite good! I normally prefer sugar but I love a strong fruit tea so it worked for me. After eating my chicken salad croissant I ended my dinner with a fruit cheesecake, so good! The berries on top were fresh and the the actual cheesecake was the perfect size to savor and not be stuffed. We had a coupon for 3 bucks off 8.00 so we thought we would try brunch here. I've only been here one other time & it was about 12 yrs ago & I didn't remember until today why I never went back. 1st it's cafeteria style. You go through a line order they give you a giant wooden spoon with a letter on it to take to your table to wait for your food. Everything else is self serve, drinks, silverware, napkins, etc. ok... the line took forever to get through if they are going for a cafeteria style it should be faster. For breakfast they should have some juice options, none. Ximena ordered the croissant breakfast sandwich it looked pitiful. She said the egg had no flavor ( salt or anything) had to take her word for it. Javier ordered an omelette with chicken, ham, & bacon. It was very thin & he said it didn't fill him up. I ordered the cinnamon French toast w/fruit. It was good but could only eat 1 luckily Javier was still hungry. I also ordered a potato galltte It was very garlicky!! They were out of forks we ate with spoons. No napkins had to wait a long time for some. A lot of dirty tables & no place for people to sit. My very small order of a ham & cheese croissant and regular cappuccino took a very long time to be delivered to me even though there was only a grand total of 3 occupied tables including ours. He noticed I'm a bit handicapped, and wanted to know if he could get us anything else. After dinner we went to the dessert counter and bought soup, comforts and some desserts to take home. The young lady was so sweet and packed our stuff so carefully. That much glass banging together could have been bad in the trunk. They do not have jams and bread laid out, but since Covid I don't think I could bring myself to eat food others had coughed over. I do wish they had some type of seating where you can peruse the menu. Due to being handicapped it was a little hard to stand while going over the menu. Today, mid-afternoon we visited & every single thing was terrible. Service incredibly rude including the actual manager, prices stupid for such small portions, orders wrong, no forks available & dirty tables everywhere. Not to mention what a ridiculous inconvenience it is that they no longer offer the scan to pay option through their app with your phone. We truly miss this place. So many bad reviews but our home restaurant in Rockwall we absolutely loved it and never had a bad meal. The only one in Colorado that we knew of was brand new and close to us open and shortly after closed. So I start my comments by saying all of this. I love La Madeleine in general. The COVID thing has changed things I'm sure. This week was the first week for restaurants to have dine in. I think they are doing a pretty good job. We ordered inside to go and they brought to the car. Most of the normal extras such as bread, butter, jelly, lemons were not out, but a sign saying if you need anything to let them know. Which was then doing a good job with the restrictions. Our sandwiches were tasty and I love their chicken. Could have used a little more dressing was a little dry but warm and tasted good. Service and cleanliness at this particular location is abysmal at best. Stopped in yesterday afternoon to grab a coffee and a few pastries to take home, only two young women working with one male adult manager. Not a lot to choose from in the pastry case and most items did not look fresh - so I chose a few things that were also stocked in the refrigerated section. While waiting for them to figure out how to make a cappuccino I could view behind the food counter which was absolutely a mess and unclean, the pastry case was filthy on the front and in the interior, I then pointed out to the counter person that the fruit tarts were moldy and needed to be removed and the case cleaned.
