We knew going in that the alleyway this little French restaurant is on was a tourist trap. Looking at their vast menu we all thought we would find something to enjoy. We were seated quickly, at a table that still had leftovers from the previous diners. My daughter noted that a raclette device was not a given for every table. We were given menus and left to ponder our decisions. Beef bourguignon caught our eye and our daughter waffled between pasta and a fillet mignon and decided on the later. I offered to trade with her if she didn't like her meal. A 1/2 litre of red wine sealed our order. Beef was not treated well by any means at this establishment. Overcooked, dry fillet was reclaimed moderately by an herbed bearnaise style sauce on the side. Fries and a little salad rounded out the plate. The stew came with a potato and a couple of quartered carrots in a bowl with chunks of stew beef that needed a sharp knife to cut. My husband's service was lacking a knife and we couldn't flag down a waiter to get one, I cut up my meal then handed over the knife. The sauce was delicious, deeply herbed and beefy, the meat over cooked and tough, expecting softened stewed meat that falls apart as you eat it was not the outcome. Sigh. Find a place off the tourist street and enjoy some French cooking by someone who cares about quality over quantity. read more

A good meal - service basic (tops) After walking around the very lovely Latin Quarter we looked for a place to eat. This looked good enough and allowed our dog in. The menu has the usual classics, so we went for Mussels and Foie Gras with a small bottle of sparkling wine. It was in the middle of the afternoon, but the waiter still made us feel that we order a bit too little. The mussels were fresh and cooked nicely, a good amount. The Foie Gras was also very tasty, nice toasted bread on the side with a good chutney.. Sparkling Wine matched both meals nicely. We were very happy with our meal, nice setting and food. Not sure where to start. I was determined to find good food in this great city of love. This place has a fix price menu. We started off with fresh oysters with this vinegar sauce. Also had fresh bread, this bread was actually soft. Numerous restaurants keep serving here bread, not this place. I had chicken kebab, green beans & french fries. The chicken was very tasty & I may add low fat & healthy. The french sauce is served on the side in case you want to try. Which I loved! I don't think sauce was healthy. I had the most charming little lunch here my last day in Paris. It really was the perfect send off from a city I love so much. Located in the Latin Quarter where you can easily be just as happy with 5 euro street food, I hesitated to sit down to a 21 euro lunch. However, upon meeting our waiter, I knew I made the right decision. He was the dearest little flirt, and lavished our table with anything we could want before we could even ask. La Maison Blanche was delicious.No need to order the fancier (25 euro) lunch unless you so desire. The 21 euro lunch special is an appetizer, a choice of either meet or cheese fondue, and a dessert. The house wine was an excellent pairing. I had the white, but the waiter said the red was very good as well. So here is what we ordered for four: Onion Soup: Best I have ever had! Flavorful broth covered in thick slices of baguette and toasty cheese. OH MY GOD! Escargot: There were about 8 small snails cooked to garlicy perfection. Cheese Fondue: I can't remember the exact cheeses, but they were creamy and not too strong. It was served with chunks of baguette for dipping as well as some slices of salami. Meat Fondue: Thick slices of chicken and steak paired with a bowl of tender potatoes and an array of dipping sauces. Creme Brulee: I didn't have a chance to try this, but my friends loved it Profiteroles: Not the best profiteroles I have ever had (I honestly prefer mastros lol), but it was a tasty pastry filled with ice cream and topped with chocolate. Can't really complain about that... As is standard with most European cafes, each person must order their own entrees, so we left very satisfied! I wish there were such lunch spots stateside that care so much not only about the food, but about the over all dining experience. Our waiter's priority was service with a cheeky smile. We have gone to this restaurant twice now. (I will update on our second visit eventually) Our first dining experience here was excellent. The staff is very helpful and friendly. We truly enjoyed our sit-down dinner here. This restaurant is on Quartier Latin on Rue La Huchette. The Metro exit is St Michel. Sortie (exit) direction is Place de St Michel. Ascend the stairs and stand on the street to get acquainted at the area. Turn around and Viola! Rue de Huchette! The restaurant is small. It has a relaxed vibe/environment. We ordered: Raclette Foundue Mixte Entrecote Grill Beouf Bourguignon 1 Pichet Vin Blanc (House wine was good) A little less than 90 Euros total for 4 people. Not bad when splitting tabs and sharing to taste it all! Food is 3.5 Stars. Service 5.5 Stars. The servers really made our dining experience the most enjoyable we have ad in Paris. After walking all along the Seine river and checking out the sights, I realized, I was very much in need of some rest and food! I came upon this large section of restaurants and cafes and was debating on what I wanted to eat. I knew that I didn't want to eat food I could easily find in America, and to continue trying out more french cuisine, so, I paused in front of this place reading the menu board posted outside of the door. A woman popped out of the door and said, "Hello!" with a nice gracious smile. I asked her about the menu special, and as she explained, I saw many items I never tried before, so, She gestured for me to walk in - and I found a nice table in front of the window so i could people watch. I love the interior. It had a nice ambience with warm red colors. I ordered the Bloc de foie gras de canard es ses toasts for the first course. WOW! I've never had this before and it was amazing to spread the pate and eat the buttery crunchy toast. There was also a bucket of french bread for me to enjoy as well. Second course was: Trio de côtes d'agneau : c'est magnifique! Just delicious, Lamb with vegetables and a nice remoulade to go with it all - Then I ended with desert: crêpes au chocolat! Ooh C'est si bon! With a nice beer, this was definitely a good choice for me and I love that I found it randomly! Well, we tried this cafe by recommendation. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing, especially for Paris. We ordered different dishes. None were outstanding or even good. Fair to poor was more adequate. They offer 3 types of meals which include appetizer, entree and desert. The wine mixed drink which is complimentary was a 50/50 among 6 of us. 3 didn't like it at all and the other 3 tolerated it. The grilled steaks were so thin that you couldn't really call it a steak. It was a thin piece of beef. The escargots were miniature in size and I've had many in my lifetime to compare. The fondu with apples was pretty tasteless. The plate contents to dip was pretty plain and sad. The Coq au Vin was ok, not as great as expected. The french onion soup was fair in taste, it looked good but your tastebuds speak the truth. 3 had the steak, 2 had chicken dishes and 1 had the fondue. There were leftovers due to not being that great. The service was very disappointing. It took forever to get our entrees. Very slow, inattentive, waiter never checked on anything. To top it off, they overcharged and couldn't figure out how to refund the charge. Had to give us cash back for the refund. Truly inadequate in service. Wonderful restaurant in the heart of Paris's Latin Quarter. Fairly priced traditional French food (mussels, beef borguignon,etc), €10-€20 for 3 course meals or order a la carte. Fondues done well. We had dinner here on our first night in Paris. It was the perfect dinner after a long day of traveling. We all went with the prixe fix menu. We started with the onion soup, warm chèvre on toast with salad, mussels in white wine, and escargots. All the apps were delicious, especially the onion soup. It really hit the spot. For our entrees, we ordered the sirloin with bernaise sauce, lamb chops, and omettes with chives and cheese. I have to say, the steak and pork chops rivaled most expensive steak dinners at the states. My steam was perfectly cooked medium and seasoned. It had nice charring which added just a hint if smokiness to the flavor paired with classic richness of the tarragon and butter sauce. And lastly, the house wine was the most surprising. It was so good! The desserts were crème brûlée, ice cream, and the cheese plate. Pretty standard for all three. Overall, just delicious and perfect for families traveling with kids. read more

Do Not waste your money! We waited over an hour for our food... the maitre de was too busy hustling new people in. Needless to say once the food arrived... Yuck!!! The St. Jacque Casserole was obviously frozen , thawed slightly & popped into a microwave. The escargot in the Shell were the size of raisins , tasteless & dried up. I could go on & on. On previous trips we've eaten in the area; while there may be great people watching, the food was always marginal. After lengthy deliberations, we chose The White House for our Thanksgiving dinner in Paris. First, the french onion soup. After a horrible first meal earlier that day, this one was really good, 4.5 stars. Great broth, heavy usage of cheese that stretched out forever, gooey and good. The bread was serviceable - net net, pretty great. Entrees fell short a bit - my Duck a l'orange was a bit overcooked and rubbery. The sides were okay, nothing great. Her scallops provencale came out a bit cold but delicious. The plating of her scallops though wasn't great - tons of green beans, not a lot of rice and not enough scallops and sauce. Dessert was creme brulee - pretty good, not amazing. It's a true 3.5 star restaurant, but decent service and someone not over-hawking out front had me round up. We found this to meet friends, just using Yelp and not really noticing that it's on a very touristy block in the Latin Quarter. On Tuesday night, the bars across the way were raucous and I had a hard time hearing my friends talking. I have to agree with the French review - while the service was solid and accommodating, the food was nothing special. Among the 9 of us we had most of the basics and nothing was done really nicely. Our other meals ran about 5-7 Euro more a person, and the quality was FAR better. I would look for something in a neighborhood where actual Parisians eat. read more

It is not bad for the price. You can have a pretty decent (not top notch) three course me for 10-15 euros at lunch. We first order a tuna tartare and it taste like tuna from a tuna can. We returned it and asked for a quiche instead, which was ok. I had a beef bourguignon and it was pretty tasty. The place was clean and the service was ok. Again, considering the price this place is a good lunch option but I would not attempt to compare it to the other more expensive restaurants around the area. read more

This place was wonderful. They went out of their way to make our experience the best. The wait staff was attentive, kind, and they treated our 7 year old like a princess. We had amazing chocolate fondue with a huge plate of fruit (some of which they ran out to purchase while we were there).
