Great tapas and solid service. There's decent street parking around the area even on a Saturday around 1:30pm, and they've got TVs inside showing the World Cup. Water was refilled promptly, food came out fairly quickly, and staff were around whenever we needed more drinks or food. The tapas were great with a few standouts: pulpo, croquetas, bimi (broccolini), calamares, and patatas bravas. All had rich flavors and paired well with the provided sauces. We also got three paellas (valenciana, tres cerditos, and paella mixta). They were good but not my favorite. Texture was on the softer side and I prefer mine crispier. Good variety of proteins across the three though, so worth ordering a mix. Sweets were good but not amazing. I'd probably just get the cinnamon roll next time. I prefer churros with a crispy exterior and soft center, these were crispy pretty much all the way through, not really my style. Brunch menu looks worth a try with some creative options. Wouldn't mind coming back, though it's not a must since I'm about 40 minutes away. Tapas were the highlight, paella and desserts kept it from 5.

La Marcha was a solid tapas spot and a great option when you want flavorful bites without leaving overly full. We loved the concept that every cocktail comes with an amuse-bouche style tapa of your choice since it lets you sample different dishes before committing to more. The mushroom croquettes were flavorful, though the mojo verde could've used a little more acidity. The patatas bravas/aoli were perfectly crispy outside and soft inside with great sauces. We also enjoyed the shrimp and onion fritter (buñuelos) and the lamb sliders (hamburguesa), where the mint paired really nicely with the richness of the lamb. The broccolini (bimi) was the only miss for us. It needed a bit more time on the grill and some salt since it came across bland. Service was good and balanced. Staff checked in enough without hovering. Overall, a good experience with solid tapas and cocktails.

Great service. Came on a weekend morning, not too packed but it was filling up quickly. The place is intimate but not so small--more than a handful of tables and then bar seating. Bathrooms were clean. There is street parking around. Food - great. We tried the meat paella and was smaller than expected, as were the tapas. The pulpo and calamares were good, sure, but again small servings. I don't think the tapas stood out enough compared to other non-Spanish restaurants that serve the same dishes. Drinks - cocktails were around $20 each. There are also wines, beers, and non-alcoholic options. Would I come back? Maybe to try the weekend brunch menu.

Everything was great! Caro knows her drinks and wine. She was super helpful and nice. We started with the seasonal cocktails and tapas. Our favorites were the potato bravas and the scallops. The beets had too much dressing but that was our only complaint. Save room for the churros!

This spot is a paella and tapas bar restaurant. Enjoyed all the items I ordered. The calamari batter was super light and the calamari itself was well-cooked. The octopus was delicious, it comes with one tentacle cut up. Ordered the all pork paella. Very delicious! I'd love to try the seafood paellas next time. They were able to put a candle on the churros for a bday! The staff was amazing! Thank you to the crew!

Came here with a couple friends last Saturday. We had a reservation for 5:30pm. The restaurant wasn't too busy when we arrived but it definitely became more filled towards the end of our dinner. We ordered a few tapas, one paella, and a dessert. * Patatas Aioli 3.8/5: Potatoes were crispy and slightly seasoned. The aioli was good. Something about this just didn't hit as much as I would have liked. Could be that the potato didn't "potato" enough for me. * Croquetas de Champiñones 4/5: Don't think I've ever had mushroom croquettes before but these were pretty good. I liked the flavor. * Carrilleras 4.8/5: My favorite tapa that we ordered. The beef was super tender and flavorful. It was good with the toast. I just wished they gave more toast. * Paella Tres Cerditos 4/5: In general, pork isn't my favorite. The pork in this was okay for me. Everything else was good. It had a pleasant flavor and a lot of nice and bright colors (except for the pork haha). * Crema Catalana 5/5: Crème brûlée infused with citrus. There was literally a piece of orange in the center. The citrus was subtle and added a refreshing taste to the custard. We were celebrating my birthday so they added a candle, which was nice of them.

Make a reservation if you are coming on a weekend. We were lucky enough that there was bar seating when we arrived (walk ins), and we eat dinner early , yup at that stage of our lives Sangria red: perfectly sweet and great with our meal Highlights: Tocino: that pork belly was so incredibly delicious and melted in my mouth Pulpo: the best octopus I have ever had The rest of the meal also tasty, but had to highlight those The torta was delish but a little too sweet, the dusting of powdered sugar while pretty was not needed imo. The olive oil is a nice touch. All in all a great date night with friendly service. Would come again! Before tax tip: $167

Made reservations thru open table on a Wednesday night. Our party of 4 got seated at the first table by the window. The restaurant was busy and full of energy. I was lucky enough to get parking on the street right in the front. Only street parking available. We ordered the paella when we were seated knowing it would take a while. We had the following items: Patatas Cargadas Croquetas Pollo Tajin Meatballs Shrimp Paella Grilled broccoli rab Stuffed peppers piquillos Sliced Jimon All were excellent. The restaurant was very busy but our servers kept up.

    A great Pulpo combo!

A lovely option for weekend brunch without the crazy lines! They take brunch reservations. Tasty food, friendly service & chill environment gives 5 stars. They've recently expanded the brunch menu so that there's lots of yummy options. Mushroom croquetas were delish and not too cheesy. Brussels and pulpo were delicious! The crab scramble was good, but the fried potatoes were too oily for us to eat. Beware there's lots of cheese & fried in everything. I'll be back to try the benedicts & sweet dishes!

I was excited to try this highly rated tapas restaurant in Berkeley. We ordered a few tapas, along with a sangria and their gintonica. We decided to save the paella for next time since it requires a 30-45 minute wait. First off, the sangria was sweet, but not overly sweet, and very refreshing. The gintonica, however, tasted a bit watered down, so I'd probably pass on that next time. As for the food, it was a bit hit-or-miss. We ordered the calamari, which came with a tasty squid ink dip. This was the largest tapas dish of the evening and definitely shareable between two to four people. The octopus was beautifully presented, but it lacked flavor and was not as tender as I had hoped. The beef cheek, on the other hand, was wonderfully tender and flavorful. I actually wish this had been one of the larger dishes because it was easily one of the highlights of the meal. Unfortunately, the crab croquette was far too salty. Not just slightly salty, but so salty that we could not finish it. It also did not have any visible crab inside, nor did it really taste like crab. Overall, I would still come back to try the paella after seeing it pass by on other tables. However, for the tapas, I'd probably stick to happy hour since the better pricing helps make up for how inconsistent some of the dishes were.

Amazing! That pretty much sums it up. My coworker and I went here to celebrate the successful end to the work week. We sat at the bar and were taken care of by the super sexy Juan. He was great; attentive, knowledgeable, and funny. The list of tapas that we had is rather long and I had to slip out with a menu so I could remember them all! Here we go; two red sangrias, croquetas de cangrejo (Dungeness crab), bruselas (Brussel sprouts), albondigas (iberico & beef with tomato cream), croquetas de pollo (piri piri spicey chicken), vierias (day boat scallops), tocino (pork belly), and to wrap it all up, a Cabernet Sauvignon sorbet and a blood orange sorbet. The place was hopping. A table would stay empty for meer moments before someone else was seated so be sure to make a reservation.

Had dinner with a small group and decided on trying a number of tapas. Recommend making reservations, at least at prime dinner hours. It's an Intimate space so it's cozy and expect to sit close to fellow patrons. Service was attentive and helpful. We had some dietary restrictions in our group so there are options for pescatarians and vegetarians. We ordered a variety of tapas; Fan favorites: *Albondigas - meatballs were really flavorful and satisfying *Piquillos - unique appetizer with chilled peppers filled with goat cheese. The two ingredients pair nicely *Chicken croquettes- crowd pleaser, nice blend of filling and crispy exterior *Table de queso - savory and sweet cheese platter with small bites and range of textures *Churros con Chocolate - can't pass up on this dessert *Patatas Bravas- can't go wrong with fried potato tapas *Fried Calamari- fresh and crispy Nice to try but likely wouldn't order again: *Mushroom croquettes- Inside is soft blended filling and super garlic forward. A bit too strong for me. *Cauliflower tapas - nice vegetarian option *Diosa verde salad - pretty aesthetic and decent salad We filled up on apps and missed out on paella which will be a must try on our next visit. La Marcha offers happy hours for more affordable, but limited items.

Food: 4.5 overall, the food was great. Service: 2 (see below - server needs training) Ambiance: 4 very nice feeling, vibe and the bar staff was solid Overall: 3.5 Price: $600 for a party of 6, pre fix with drinks and 20% tip. Went there for New Year's Eve dinner which was pre fix and prepaid. Our reservation was for 9:30p and we were told upon arrival that we'd have to wait for 30-minutes either at the bar or outside in the rain (yikes) bc as they admitted that they had oversold. Hmmm..... We decided to wait in our car while our friends had drinks at the bar. Not ideal but ok it's NYEve. Upon seating our party of 6, I was told that we had only prepaid for a party of 5 and that they would only serve a party of 5. Talk about a distrustful approach. Juan, the server was indignant when I showed him my reservation on OpenTable and my credit card payment on my credit card app. He said he'd talk to the owner. Not the most welcoming first 15-minutes. Our whole table was like, WTF? Juan returned saying that we were good to go and that he had confused us with the party of 5 seated behind us. The server dampened the celebratory mood by mixing up our reservations. After that the finally served us. Despite that, we kept a positive mood. When paying. Juan did the straight up hover when we paid our drink tab and tip. That's just not worthy of a Michelin plate restaurant. They need to train their staff better. Great place for tapas, drinks, and paella. Don't expect the best service. I'm not sure I'd go back after that service fiasco.

Ask the Community - La Marcha Tapas Bar

    How to reserve?

They take reservations on Open Table. You can get there through their website.

Can they do a meal for a Celiac?

    Yes, especially all our Paellas

Is it good for birthday celebration?

Might be cramped for large parties. Also they don't give any bday freebies. Just a candle on a dessert you still have to pay for. The tables are close together too and it gets very loud when it's crowded, making it hard to have a conversation with…

    Are there gluten free options?

    Yes

What kind of cooking oil/frying oil is used?

Olive oil for paella and rice bran oil in the deep fryers.

What time does the patio open? Yelp and the website say different things. The website says 4:00p. I made a reservation for 4:30p and now I got a text from an 83992 number that says the patio opens at 6:00. Can someone from the La Marcha confirm?

My understanding is that they don't take reservations for the patio, generally. I'm pretty sure they open before 6:00, but I would call La Marcha to find out for sure and whether you can make reservations. The entrance to the patio is via the…

    Can someone reserve outside/patio dining?

The patio is only open Fridays and Saturdays, and yes you can reserve.

    Is the back patio open?

Yes, you need to go around the block behind the seven eleven (not the main entrance)

What are the actual hours here? They don't seem to match what is listed on Yelp. We were certainly not able to eat lunch there yesterday.

Sorry to hear about that! it seems like their website says open daily Lunch: 11-3pm Dinner: 3-9pm I am including the link to their website here for your reference…

Are they taking reservations during Covid?

    Walk-ins only.

Can La Marcha do a vegetarian paella?

    Yes

Can you bring your own wine and if so what's the corkage fee?

Yes, we allow corkage (as long as that same wine is not offered on our wine list). The corkage fee is $20.

Can I bring my kids (17&12) or just 21 and over?

    Yes kids are welcome

Do you have a catering arm where we can order a larger order of paella for local delivery?

    Yes, www.510nora.com

Can we still order paella at happy hour?

    Paella is available from 4pm - 10pm

The workers and the owner were all very kind and welcoming. I got there a little after they opened in the morning. As for the food, I ordered the kimchi fried rice along with the chicken and croffle. The fried chicken tasted a bit interesting. I'm not sure if the frying temperature was off or if it had something to do with the condition of the oil, but the texture of the breading wasn't quite right. I used to work at a fried chicken shop in Korea, so it was a texture I recognized--the coating was fully cooked and wasn't necessarily soggy, but there was no real crunch. Instead of being crispy, the breading was soft and kind of gave way when you bit into it. Unfortunately, I couldn't continue eating it. I'd give the chicken a 2/5. As for the kimchi fried rice, I liked the addition of cilantro and beets, which gave it a refreshing touch. My only issue was that the kimchi itself was way too sour for kimchi fried rice. I don't mind fermented or sour kimchi, but in this case, the sourness overpowered the rest of the dish. Overall, the cafe itself is cute and the people working there were genuinely very kind. I just wish the food had been a little better, especially the fried chicken. Will be back next time to try out the coffee!! It is a cafe after all.

We tried going to another cafe that wasn't even that busy and they told us it would be a 20 mins wait with several 4 tops empty. We arrived here and every table was packed with a small waitlist. Even then we got seated quickly, served quickly, and everything tasted good! Will definitely be back and recommend when I'm back in the area!

Pulled up on a Sunday early afternoon with a friend. I went with the freshly squeezed OJ and the breakfast combo - French toast, two eggs, and chicken apple sausage. Everything was delicious, but that French toast was easily the star of the show. The food wasn't the issue; the kitchen communication was. We ordered, settled in, and then watched every single table seated after us get their food while we sat there starving. After 45 minutes of playing the waiting game, we asked what was going on and found out our order was never even entered into the system. Heavy lapse in service. Management and our waitress apologized and comped an appetizer, which I appreciated. Mistakes happen, but sitting for almost an hour watching everyone else eat was a test of patience. I'll still be back because that French toast is top tier, but hopefully, the kitchen system gets it together next time.

It was pretty hard to pick from the menu items, but I settled on the Frittata with a side of Fennel Sausage, sourdough toast and a Arnold Palmer. Although the seating was full, thank goodness out food came out just as some seats were emptying out. It was a chilly day and the outside seating was full too. The service was without any complaints. They did their best to accommodate all patrons despite it being very crowded and crazy busy. Overall I would come back here, probably right as the doors open to be guaranteed a place to seat and not have to wait and hope for a seat. Oh the music was on point!! Put it on your list, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

My friend who rarely insists on eating at specific places insisted we come, a previous girlfriend was in the food industry and they have this place bookmarked for awhile. They described it as "healthy california food". We came on a Friday morning around 9:20 am and it was pretty crowded. You can't park right in front but there was plenty of street parking on the weekdays. Inside, its intimate and cozy and there is also a nice seating area outside with lots of dog-owners hanging out. Everything we had was great quality with choice ingredients where you could actually taste the difference. Buttermilk Biscuit Sandwich: herb butter, roasted seasonal vegetables and onions, soft-cooked egg, and greens. Surprisingly filling, we were trying to share a bunch of little bites but ended up getting one each of these. It's fine as a stand alone mini breakfast! Frittata: pastured eggs, assorted vegetables, caramelized onions. WAY too good! we all love this one. Herb-Dijon Biscuit: Excellent savory biscuit, you can taste the high quality butter used.

It's also one of those places that makes you want to stay. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and generous. Every time I come here, I tell myself I'll pace myself... and every time I fail because it's just that good. The burgers are loaded and perfectly balanced, the fries are always crisp (never soggy, which is rare), and everything tastes high-quality and made to order. You have to try the chicken and waffles. The waffle batter tastes homemade and the butter takes it to another level... it's one of those dishes you keep thinking about after. I'll even DoorDash it all the way to Jingletown. The patio setup is really well done... there's a mix of larger tables for groups and higher bar-style seating for smaller hangs. The wooden furniture and cushioned benches make it comfortable, and they've got heaters for colder days and umbrellas when it's sunny, so you can usually pick your ideal spot. You order at the window and then just hang out while you wait... it's a relaxed flow and the food comes out pretty quickly. The staff are always kind and welcoming, and the whole place has a relaxed, homey vibe with really good music. Highly recommend... just come hungry.
