This location is a lot smaller than some of the other locations I've visited. Regardless, they have an excellent selection of fresh, natural, delicious ice cream, refreshments, and other delicious, creative snacks, such as elotes and huge chucks of fruit arrangements with various toppings of your choice. Muy delicioso! I came here with a friend because we were really craving mangonada, and this place did not disappoint. We got a medium mangonada, which came out to be $6.31 after tax. (Minimum payment with credit card is $5) For the two of us, the medium size was more than enough. She drizzles the chamoy and tajin on different sections of the cup so that there is always some to go with the mango ice cream, which is very rich and tasty. There are a bit of mango hairs in the ice cream though, but that just goes to show how fresh their ice cream is. I will definitely come back the next time I have a mangonada craving! read more

Perfect option for dessert after being stuffed from L'Patron across the street. A young lady serviced my boo and I. She was fine, but would have liked some energy or a standard greeting. Some of the flavors were in Spanish, so I wasn't sure of all the offerings, but the lady probably could have helped if I asked. I went with a limon paleta while boo had a scoop of cheesecake and a scoop of Ferrero ice cream in a waffle cone. Beware, portions are gigantic. Each scoop was virtually 3 scoops and the whole thing was enough for four people. The Ferrero ice cream had plenty of chunks of the actual chocolates in there, which was nice. I'm used to grabbing a paleta from the guys rolling the carts around the city, which are decent and satisfactory. Therefore, I was more than pleased with my large paleta with great zesty refreshing flavor. In hindsight, the ones from the carts (at least the limon) are diluted with much more water or uses less lime flavor. Total for the two was only $6. What a steal! Definitely coming back and trying some more flavors of ice cream or paletas. read more

I'm from the south side. So when I saw this was here in the north side, I had to try it out! No doubt they served delicious food! My boyfriend and I had a huge lunch. We ordered two elotes en palo. The corn was juicy and still had steam coming out. We had nachos, which were covered with lots of cheese and jalapeños(loved these pickled peppers!) We also had fresas com crema. The cream was more like runny whipped cream. I'm used to la lechera but this was good too. And lastly, the torta de jamón. Oh my goodness was this delicious! I love the Michoacana in Berwyn but I live in Logan Square so I stop by this one when I need a quick fix. My favorite item is the plain yogurt with all the fruit in it... I'd suggest asking them to go light on the apple, they put a bit too much in mine. They don't have as many paleta flavors as the other location and the Cajeta doesn't have the caramel inside of it like the one that I get at the other location which is a total bummer. The mangoneada is also good. The products are great but the staff is hard to talk to -- really quiet and not rude but not friendly either. Love this little joint! My fave is the Fererro and Strawberry Cheesecake. Real bits of cheesecake. OMG. SOFA KING good! And this place is so affordable. The scoops are HUGE. 5 scoops in cups and a double in a waffle cone was $13. You can't go wrong here. There are 6 of us! Can't wait to come back again. Ladies are super nice and fast. You can go east and pay $4 more per item then what you will pay here. I took 7 friends and they all got large portions and I paid less than $17. That's less than 2.75 per person. Good food. The price is only high if your size is bigger. Its clean and there is a lot of space there. Sometimes i have problems with the employees because they either forget or mix up my order, or they cant hear me. Besides that their yogurts are amazing! This place was great when it first opened. The selection is great and everything taste delicious but I dislike the fact that they don't post any of their prices. They have a huge menu board but all the price tags are empty. I went in last week and instead of paying my usual $12 dollars for my order, I paid $18. Such an amazing, authentic Mexican ice cream shop! This is a chain from Mexico (which is part of why their prices are so good). If you don't know Spanish, like me, don't expect to have someone to communicate easily with if you want to ask questions. I love getting a popsicle to-go on a hot day. There are real fruit chunks within it! They separate popsicles by water-based vs. milk-based. My favorite flavors have been strawberry, lime, coconut....still trying to expand to try all their many flavors, but keep getting hung up on these three! read more

This place was good when it first opened but I don't know what's going on now. It says it's open until 10 pm but I've gone at 9 and it's closed I go at 8:45 and it's closed I go at 8:30 and there's people inside but the doors are locked because it's closed if you aren't open until 10 then you should change the information. I feel like they make their own closing schedule everyday, like through out the day they talk and are like oh I think we should close at 8 today, which only gives the juice cafe across the street more business because they sell the exact same thing. read more

OMG! La Michocana right around the corner from my apt! I had first tried La Michoacana when I was travelling in Mexico and had started seeing this paleteria opening up in random places in the U.S. They carry their own churned ice cream, as well as paletas (ice cream on a stick), smoothies, milkshakes, fruit cups, nachos, and other delights. I recommend the galleta (cookies and cream). They also have very traditional Mexican flavored ice cream/paletas such as cajeta (sweetened caramelised milk) ganseto (type of mexican sweet bread) fresas con crema (strawberries with cream) and many more flavors. The Food quality at this place is decent. The yogurt & ice cream are fresh. They cut the fruit in front of your eyes. The waters are chilled and don't taste as if they have artificial flavors. Although the service might be a little slow and prices are a bit much for my taste. The food is delicious and enough to satisfy my craving for sweets. They are also open to customize your order. The are is spacious so you have of room & don't feel claustrophobic. The place itself is very clean, the tables aren't sticky, there aren't any napkins or receipts on the floor. I hope this business reads this review because with the lack of businesses surviving in this area the customer opinions should definatly be taken into consideration! Walked to three different ice cream shops within a three block radius to try a mangonada and see what the hype is all about since i love mexican candy. Two were closed one was what appeared gated yet said open? and the other just recently ran out of business... Bummer then stumbled on this one walking by and the mangonada was good as expected nothing out of this world here mango ice cream chile and lime...tho what turned me off most was the customer service unfortunately.... i walked in not even a hi or welcome nothing... place was empty...the cashier was a very young lady i assume the owners daughter she was quick to take my order no complaints there but as i looked at the flavors and asked questions if they made them from scratch also complimented their shop decor... it seemed like i was pushing for conversation got no thank you or anything...and its a shame because the place is nicely decorated lots of space but if the people who run it act sorta "cold" id rather walk another couple blocks down to the cicero ave ice cream shop where my business feels welcomed and appreciated. Attitude is everything and if youre looking to succeed in a business you should want to make everyone feel welcomed and appreciated because without the customer you have NO business... youll turn into another ghost town like those out of business shops in the area.
