They had a wide variety of flavors so be prepared for some tough choices. We ended up getting the nutella ice cream and passion fruit sorbet. The portions are generous. Nutella- If you love the chocolate and hazelnut flavor combo, this one's for you! The base is rich and creamy and you get a deep chocolate flavor imbued with hazelnut. A must try! After grabbing dinner at Kaizen Shabu Shabu nearby, my date and I came to La Michocana Express for desserts. I have to say, it was a bit hot and muggy inside considering this is an ice cream shop. There was no other customers in front of us, so service was quick and helpful. We decided to share a Double Scoop ($6) with Soursop and Pistachio... and in retrospect this was too big, even for two people to share. The texture was on the melty side even as they just scooped it and handed it to us. It also melted quickly as it was exposed to the elements. I don't really like my ice cream too melted. They have some tables outside, but they are dirty, sticky and not well kept. I had my trusty wet wipes with me to wipe down the table we decided to sit down at and even after the first swipe, you can see the wet wipe turn black. Super gross. On the positive side, I really like seeing soursop on the menu, as it is a rare fruit only available in areas with tropical weather. Since my family came from Vietnam, it is one of the native fruits that brings nostalgia to me. And the pistachio tasted like there were real pistachio in the ice cream. Taste is fine but the texture kills me. We were unable to finish the ice cream. Based on desserts in the area or even similar Michocanas, I feel like this one is below par. Last two times I come here I have to wait five minutes for someone to come out of the back and I ask for a milkshake and they say "we can't make anymore milkshakes today" and next time "we are out of milk". DO NOT COME HERE - ROACH INFESTATION If I could give zero stars, I would. I've tried giving this place so many chances over time because the customer service used to be excellent - especially from a young woman named Pricilla (I believe that was her name). She was always kind, respectful, and made every visit feel welcoming. Sadly, I haven't seen her in quite a while, and since then, this place has gone completely downhill. I'm an older woman, raised to always keep a clean and orderly home, so I know the difference between a place that's just busy and one that's downright filthy - and this place is beyond filth. The roach infestation is out of control. I've seen them crawling around like they belong there - on the floor, by the counters, and even near where people are supposed to eat or be served. It's absolutely unacceptable and a serious health concern. My husband refuses to come here anymore, and honestly, I don't blame him. This place clearly isn't being cleaned or maintained like it used to be. I'm extremely disappointed and disgusted. I will not be returning, and I highly recommend others stay away until serious changes are made. read more

I happened to be in the area craving dessert. Decided to stop here, and was greeted by Andrea. If I could give this place 10 stars just based off her customer service, I would!! Ended up buying 4 paletas de leche, two cups of ice cream, tostiloko, and an agua de jamaica. Went outside where they have a little patio with tables and chairs to sit to enjoy some of these items. The strawberry paleta actually had 2 strawberries in it, so good! The Jamaica drink was not to too sweet and too watery, just perfect for a good cold drink. The price of a small Agua Fresca inside one of the vendors at the 4th Street Market is $4.00 but here you can get a large! Great service, generously offered samples, and was super friendly. I told him I loved Mangonadas but I didn't particularly like how they made it with the mango ice cream. He was so accommodating & was able to make me a custom 1/2 ice & 1/2 mango ice cream (non dairy) Mangoneada/Raspado.
