I had the pleasure of coming here twice - once for lunch and another time to buy actual meat. The initial take of the Meat Market lends itself to some hesitation and doubt. A fast glance may trick one into thinking that the store is part of the Circle K gas station itself - it is not, so don't worry about getting any gas station "specials." As you walk into Interbay Meat Market, you will find yourself immersed in truly a large-sized bodega with open-faced fridges, packed with drinks, lined against the outer walls. In between everything else are your groceries and other common pantry items. Almost at the center is a cantina/canteen, where you can pick out your own lunch from an assortment of available freshly cooked foods. The food you find here would be comparable to Caribbean twist or any other Latin-cafeteria style eatery. The servings are generous for a decent price. If you're coming here for lunch, there are outdoor picnic tables so you don't have to bring the heaping trays back into work if you don't want to. Next to the cantina is the fresh meats section. The cuts of meat here all look great and freshly stocked. They are neatly stacked and organized giving it overall appeal. I came here for steak and was happy with the various cuts they offered (porterhouse, NY strip, ribeye, Delmonico being the commonly recognized ones). In speaking with the clerk, each cut was sized for about a pound - which makes it easy when you're gauging the price. The porterhouse and Delmonico's that I bought immediately went on the smoker and grill, and they were a hit with the party. First, a couple of things for context. We were there around 7:30 in the evening and the mall closes around 8. It looked like all the food court spots were closing up, but the folks at Tacos Gone Mobile were happy to take our orders and assure us that they're usually the last ones in the food court to close up every night. Made a very good first impression! Taking a look at their menu, there's a lot to be excited about if you love Mexican cuisine. Their selection of proteins is truly impressive -- I'm not sure I've seen another Latin restaurant in the area that has as many options, honestly. Once you choose a protein, then you choose an entree, and from there you pretty much have your pick of any presentation you might want -- tacos, burritos, tortas, birria tacos, taco salads, you name it -- all cooked to order. For my first taste of their flavors, I went pretty simple -- steak birria tacos -- and I'm very glad I did. Now, as with most birria tacos, they're a little hard to pick up because the grilled tortillas get a little soft, especially if you dip them in the savory consommé broth they come with -- definitely get lots of napkins! But these tacos were absolutely bursting with flavor -- delightful. The chips they came with were terrific, too -- firm, crisp, capable of loading up with their delicious guac and not falling apart. My friend had similar things to say about the Supreme tacos he ordered. Also, do not skip on the sauces they serve up with your chips, especially the green sauce. Delicious, but it's a got a bit of a kick -- you've been warned! With so many options inside Westshore closing their doors, it's great to see someone bringing such a creative casual food experience to the food court space.
