Came for lunch today with a friend and I was over the moon to find out that they serve fresh coconuts here! And upon request will open it for you after you finished drinking all the coconut water. If you like coconuts like muah this is a blessing to find in Reno! Absolutely stoked about it. Our waiter had sort of an impassive expression about him but that was ok bc he was on top of it and very attentive regardless. We tried the spring roll with chicken and it was just ok. Not much to it whatsoever. Just rice noodle and a thin piece of chicken.. could definitely use some sprucing up maybe with some carrots, fresh basil, shrimp. The usual stuff. I ordered the pork and shrimp plate with rice. I was very happy with it, thought it was delicious. My friend got the chicken pho I snuck a bite of and I thought it was decent not bad just very mild in flavor. Great to have on a cold winter's day. Highlights: Combo Pho The obligatory first try - hard to judge in a styrofoam bowl so transferred to large glass bowl and made sure broth was piping microwave hot - then added noodles, tripe, tendon, brisket, veggies, sprouts, and herbs. The impressive part was the flavoring, remarkably fresh and natural. The noodles tasted homemade, the veggies were fresh, the protein, although scant, was top-shelf and easily devourable. Careful if you don't pay attention, this bowl can disappear pretty fast. Coconut juice in a coconut Pure, cool, stylish and refreshing - a perfect complement to any of the spicier dishes. Don't try enlarging the hole if you don't have the right tools - trust me on this one. Midlights: Potstickers Average regular - great at the time you need it. Shrimp and Pork Fried Rice On the salty side - rice grains are chewy but the shrimp is really good. Pork appears in little bits here and there. Lowlights: Wish they included sriracha and oyster sauce in the to-go package, and perhaps a second lime wedge. Those were sorely missed. Rounding up yet again. This place is practically in my weekly rotation, as pho has become my main comfort food. I've come with friends a few times who enjoy the Chinese food options here as well. A funny story is one day I came in for lunch by myself and recognized a new waiter, he happened to be a waiter at my childhood Chinese restaurant in Winnemucca (China Garden) where I used to order 1 of 2 meals a lot after work when I was in high school and he always knew it was me based on the order (sidenote, it's been almost 20 years and he didn't recognize me anymore). Anyways, I recently ventured to a different pho place as my only complaint with LA mint is sometimes portions aren't as big as other places. The other places pho broth felt very much like the quick powder I mix with water when I want a quick fix at home... so not authentic. La Mint's broth is light, not too salty, flavorful and the spices come through very well (unlike the other places which felt overwhelmingly salty with no hint of pho spices). This feels like legit beef bone made pho broth. Be prepared to wait sometimes because these guys are ALWAYS busy these days. They are very popular. PRO TIP: order off their website versus a third party pick up app for the non-raised prices, if you're going to pick up it's about $2 cheaper. read more

We ordered a couple items and picked them up directly. I had the Mongolian Beef. The portions were good and the flavor was okay. My wife had the Pad Thai and I ended up eating quite a bit of it. It's about what you would expect ordering Pad Thai from a Vietnamese place. We also had an order of chicken fried rice I ate for lunch and snack the next day. I added a bit of extra flavor and it was good. Next time I think I'll try some of their Pho dishes. read more

I've always loved La Mint. It's been one of my favorite pho places to eat at in Reno. Every single table was full and this was only a Wednesday night. We asked to sit at the bar and it seemed no one ever dines there because they had to clear it up and set it up for us. My wife & daughter door dash once in awhile for some extra spending money and they told me how many orders they would get from this place on an average day. So putting two and two together I figured we would go try it and see what the buzz was all about. Wow! Really good food. Nothing I would have gone out of my way to try but sure happy I did. In about 5 years of coming to Pho La Mint in south meadows I've never seen the restaurant closed for a major holiday or event, and the food quality is the same regardless of the day and time. Ordering vegan I've never gotten an accidental meat mix-up and have always had flavorful dishes and respectful service. The owners are invested in the community and have a little thank-you wall from who they've supported near the entrance, which to me doubles the worth of every dollar spent. We have always enjoyed LaMint they have great food and service but our last visit was not good- we ordered chicken vegetable noodle soup and combo chow mein Soup broth was soooo salty or maybe too much msg we couldn't eat the broth. My advices to the bus and server is that don't be shy await to entertain customers and ask them how are they doing and everything is alright and they can also as what can they do for the customer. Nice Vietnamese restaurant. Stopped by here after a DMV visit. I decided on beef chow fun. It isn't a traditional Vietnamese plate but looked good on the menu. The flavor was really good however the noodle was a little too soft. The portion was a little small as well considering it was a normal menu item vs a lunch portion. One of my favorite pho places in South Reno. I go here at least once a week! Their broth is clear but also flavorful. The noodles are cooked perfectly every time. Covid adhering restaurant with hand sanitizers on every table. I have to mention the lady's restroom. It's clean, has beautiful wall displays and has real fresh carnations by the sink. Right now this is a place that the BF and I frequent. When it comes to pho at the moment, this place is what's usually mentioned first before listing other alternatives. Keep in mind, this place is clear across town for us too. The pho here is very different from most places, the broth is very clear but it doesn't mean it lacks flavor. It's really a technique or method they do here. The broth is flavorful, I don't have to drown it in sauces and curbs my pho cravings. I will mention when we ordered the oxtail pho, the oxtail itself was a little chewy, not super tender. The hu tieu is good, and I had no complaints about it. With the bun bo hue, this is probably the only other place I've tried it at here in Reno (usually eat at bun bo hue an nam in SJ) and it's actually not bad. I didn't have to put shrimp paste in the broth because it was well balanced. The only thing I was sad about was they didn't have any pork blood or that pork hock that I look forward to, but it did have the cha lua. Overall, If I'm craving for bun bo hue, this place will satisfy my craving. Overall I'm a fan of this place. Friendly service, they socially distance tables, staff wear masks, there's hand sanitizer on the tables, and they've been consistent with their food since I've been coming. read more
