Fast service, tasty food. Seems to be a well known stop for the community. We are happy to have discovered it. It was a bit cold sitting in the middle of the restaurant as the door swung open and the cold draft came in. If possible, snag a booth! We enjoyed crab Rangoon for appetizer, and a variety of dishes for dinner. The Mongolian beef stood out as the favorite but all were enjoyed. Happy to see chili sauce and sriracha at the table since the food wasn't spicy enough for us. A solid stop for a variety of Asian dishes!
What great service! I had called to make sure the wait wasn't long on a Saturday night, and when we arrived, they had a table waiting for us! That's 5-star service in my book. The decor is fresh and clean. The offset lighting creates a warm, friendly mood. We started off with shrimp spring rolls which were paired with a peanut sauce. They were chewy and lightly salted. The peanut sauce was a good accompaniment giving the textures more flavor. We moved on to the Spicy Noodle Soup which was lightly spiced, warm and delicious. The addition of chili oil upped the spice meter and made it even better. The war wonton soup was desperately needed because I was fighting a cold and wanted something warm and light. That fit the bill perfectly. Between the outstanding service and the delicious food, we were warmed and our bellies were full on a cold winter weekend night. Definitely a spot that we will not drive by without stopping.
This was my first time here and the place was so beautifully lit, clean, and cool. It was so packed i knew it would be delicious. Let me start by saying the staff was very attentive and friendly. Second i just had to try my favorite crab Rangoon's. They were the best in reno. I also had to try the birds net with combo meat. I loved the sauce and i would so go for the shrimp only next time. Dragon fruit boba and the calamari were so delicious. The ribs were seasoned and cooked to perfection. Defiantly returning to try new things!'
I'm upping my rating here because this was a markedly better experience than I had 4 years ago. I'm not sure if ownership changed, but they've had a great presence on social media as of late, and that coupled with the ever increasing number of 5 star reviews and delicious photos added to their Yelp page put them back on the radar. So while looking for a good spot for a group, we decided to give the a try again. Their Instagram had been showcasing oxtail and beef rib pho, and I had my heart set on the ribs. The presentation of the dish was very impressive, and it came with two tender beef ribs to be enjoyed with the broth and noodles. The beef ribs fell off the bone beautifully and had just enough hanging on to gnaw on. The noodles were well cooked and the toppings were also fresh. The broth itself was not my favorite of all time. Not bad but also not as rich and complex as those I tend to repeat over and over. I found it a bit bland and greatly benefitted from a hit of lime, some chili, and all the condiments. I still devoured the whole bowl. The calamari appetizer was damn good though. Nice and salty with tender squid rings encased in a light and crispy batter, accompanied by some wok tossed peppers, onion, and chilis, all of which ended up in my soup. My father in law got the grilled pork pho, and that caught my attention as something novel and new. I also noticed the pan fried noodles on the menu and coming from the kitchen, which looked phenomenal! I'd like to come back and explore more of the Menu outside the pho. Maybe that's just not my thing here and something incredible is waiting to be discovered!
One of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Reno, without a doubt. I've been coming here consistently for the past two years, and the food has never disappointed. Go to dishes will always be their Bún Bò Huế and Spring Rolls. The Bún Bò Huế was bold, rich, and full of flavor, with just the right amount of heat. The noodles were cooked well, and the portion came with plenty of meat. The Spring Rolls were fresh and light, but the real standout was the peanut sauce - rich, creamy, and easily one of the best I've had. It paired perfectly with the rolls and really elevated the dish. Not pictured here is their vermicelli which I order pretty much weekly, so light but flavor packed. Their grilled meat is no joke. Service was very fast and friendly. The staff was welcoming, and the food came out quickly. The space itself is clean and inviting. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu here!
A year since last review Wow. Let's update this Now . Tonight had a little date night. We were greeted immediately and sat right away . Ordered some hot tea to start and some pot stickers , they were really good. We got for our entree Mongolian beef, Kung pao chicken , chicken lo mein noodles , pork fried rice. Everything came nice and hot and everything was very flavorful and delicious. It really hit the spot tonight. Service was excellent. The restaurant is very clean. Highly recommend Check the pics ! La Mint is one of my favorite places to eat when I want something comforting and nourishing. They have so many vegan options, but I don't even look at the menu anymore because I always order the same thing: the vegan pho with tofu, fresh spring rolls, and jasmine tea. The broth is clean and flavorful without feeling heavy, the veggies are always fresh, and the tofu is perfectly done. I love that they bring out a plate of fresh herbs so you can customize your bowl. It feels intentional and elevated without being over the top. The owners are always present, walking around and checking in, which I really appreciate. You can tell they genuinely care about the experience. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and consistently spotless. I actually love coming here by myself. It's peaceful, cozy, and grounding. It's become my little solo ritual spot, and it's pretty much the only place I eat pho.
First off this place is beautiful. My fiancee and I went for a lunch date and when we walked in we both went "wooow"...lol.. colorful and welcoming and they even have a Instagram spot by the door to take a pic. Lol.. The staff were welcoming, nice and super quick. We had a couple questions and the staff were quick to answer. The menu was a good size and alot of yummy looking items. I got the lunch combo/special. It comes with a yummy soup that was so fresh, so clean, and so light with good flavor. I forgot what the name of the soup was but it was perfect. It had a thin piece of chicken, greens and green onions and little fried onions. So good. My main entree was sweet and sour chicken , rice and a egg roll.. the sauce on the chicken was sweet but not too sweet and no bad after taste. I added the chili paste thats on the table to the chicken and it was amzing.their chili tasted different than any other one ive had and I loved it. My fiancee got a steak cold noodle bowl with lemon grass dressing.. the noodles being cold and the meat warm and mixed with the dressing it just went so well in your mouth. This bowl was huge! Enough to share. Everything was so fresh and good quality. Good portions and good pricing. Can't wait to go back and try more items..
First time here and it was beyond amazing and I am so excited to come back. The staff was terrific, the inside is beautifully decorated and very clean. This place can definitely accommodate large groups of people. It is also 100% an absolutely perfect spot for a lunch date. And leftovers the next day are incredible! I had the stir fried beef and lemongrass vermicelli noodle dish. The flavors were sooooo good! I'm so excited to go back, I honestly can't wait. There's so much more that I'm looking forward to trying. Thank you so much La Mint staff, we hope you stick around for a very long time.
Overall service score - 1 star Food score -2 star We came in roughly 45 min before closing. First impressions are everything and this was not a good first impression. We were in and out in less than 25 min. A short, stout Hispanic lady let us pick our seat, she threw the menus onto the table towards my wife! When I sat down, I said thank you for the condiments and she said "mhmm." She brought waters and I said thank you again, and she did not even respond. She did not welcome us, but instead made it feel like there was animosity. She had a huge attitude when we first came in and made my wife SUPER UNCOMFORTABLE to the point of us debating on even eating there. The egg rolls were barely warm, not hot whatsoever. The inside was super thick with pork, we decided not to finish it because it was that bad. Ordered Bun Bo Hue (when I got it, the broth looked like plain water, when it supposed to be very vibrant red/brown.) My wife's pho broth tasted like water as well. Flavors were just NOT there. We did not finish our food because it was plain Jane. The inside has nice decor but that was the best part about the whole place. An older Asian gentleman did help us and was a lot nicer. So I appreciate him, but not the stout Hispanic chick. We decided to never come back here as of today. The 2 stars is for the decor and one nice Asian man.
The atmosphere was great. Quite and relaxed, almost intimate. Met two friends for dinner and to catch up. All the food ordered was good, but nothing jumped out at us as unique or different. Pad Tai, Combination Chow Main, and Generals Chicken. With some Thai Tea and Boba. The price wasn't bad for what was ordered. Staff offered refills and cleaned the table as we visited. A lot of table turn over and take out orders. The location is quick and easy to get to in the plaza centrally located. read more

Ordered takeout from La Mint - a complete menu with Vietnamese and Chinese flair. Highlights: Combo Pho The obligatory first try - hard to judge in a styrofoam bowl so transferred to large glass bowl and made sure broth was piping microwave hot - then added noodles, tripe, tendon, brisket, veggies, sprouts, and herbs. The impressive part was the flavoring, remarkably fresh and natural. The noodles tasted homemade, the veggies were fresh, the protein, although scant, was top-shelf and easily devourable. Careful if you don't pay attention, this bowl can disappear pretty fast. Coconut juice in a coconut Pure, cool, stylish and refreshing - a perfect complement to any of the spicier dishes. Don't try enlarging the hole if you don't have the right tools - trust me on this one. Midlights: Potstickers Average regular - great at the time you need it. Shrimp and Pork Fried Rice On the salty side - rice grains are chewy but the shrimp is really good. Pork appears in little bits here and there. Lowlights: Wish they included sriracha and oyster sauce in the to-go package, and perhaps a second lime wedge. Those were sorely missed. If you're into Vietnamese cuisine, this has to be a regular stop. read more

In about 5 years of coming to Pho La Mint in south meadows I've never seen the restaurant closed for a major holiday or event, and the food quality is the same regardless of the day and time. Ordering vegan I've never gotten an accidental meat mix-up and have always had flavorful dishes and respectful service. The owners are invested in the community and have a little thank-you wall from who they've supported near the entrance, which to me doubles the worth of every dollar spent. We ordered a couple items and picked them up directly. I had the Mongolian Beef. The portions were good and the flavor was okay. My wife had the Pad Thai and I ended up eating quite a bit of it. It's about what you would expect ordering Pad Thai from a Vietnamese place. We also had an order of chicken fried rice I ate for lunch and snack the next day. I added a bit of extra flavor and it was good. Next time I think I'll try some of their Pho dishes. read more

I've always loved La Mint. It's been one of my favorite pho places to eat at in Reno. Every single table was full and this was only a Wednesday night. We asked to sit at the bar and it seemed no one ever dines there because they had to clear it up and set it up for us. I'm so happy we decided on this place in the south because first we had tried the pho place in the Costco shopping center which was just atrocious. La Mint is always cozy, quick, and has an overall good feeling. Also delicious! read more

My wife & daughter door dash once in awhile for some extra spending money and they told me how many orders they would get from this place on an average day. So putting two and two together I figured we would go try it and see what the buzz was all about. Wow! Really good food. Nothing I would have gone out of my way to try but sure happy I did. I can't remember the specifics of what I had or the number of what it was off their extensive menu but it was really good. I mean really good. We have already gone back twice since our first visit and are planning our next visit for next month. If you like this type of food you won't be disappointed! read more
The place is cozy and wonderful, sure as hell looks like expensive and fancy but it's only fancy and it's also affordable. Like the place and the server. My advices to the bus and server is that don't be shy await to entertain customers and ask them how are they doing and everything is alright and they can also as what can they do for the customer. But it's probably closing that's why they aren't in the mood, oh well. I enjoy my visit. read more

One of my favorite pho places in South Reno. I go here at least once a week! Their broth is clear but also flavorful. The noodles are cooked perfectly every time. The quality of the meat is also good. Their calamari is absolutely my favorite. The breading is light but also crispy. We also opt in for the eggrolls (not pictured) but it's always a must! read more

Nice Vietnamese restaurant. Stopped by here after a DMV visit. I decided on beef chow fun. It isn't a traditional Vietnamese plate but looked good on the menu. The flavor was really good however the noodle was a little too soft. The portion was a little small as well considering it was a normal menu item vs a lunch portion. I also ordered hot tea that was delicious. The service was great. The employees were all very welcoming and friendly. I will come back to try their pho and other menu items. read more

Covid adhering restaurant with hand sanitizers on every table. I have to mention the lady's restroom. It's clean, has beautiful wall displays and has real fresh carnations by the sink. Wonderful touch! I appreciated that a lot. Had the chicken pho and it was as it should be. Had all the greens, jalapenos, limes, veggies and noodles. This location does a lot of take-out. It was fun to order my dish by their assigned alphabet-number rather than the name. Quick and easy! read more
9/27/21 Quality/Quantity - The best, GREAT flavor, and quality. Everything on the menu is good. So far this is our favorite Asian restaurant in Reno. Atmosphere - Safe, they still have the plexi glass separating the booths. Cozy, good cool design; umbrellas hanging from the ceiling made the environment fun. Service - Willy is the BEST. The female owner has helped us the previous times before and she is also very good. During last month's visit, Willy helped the table next to us and he seemed to know all the regulars. He actually remembered us even though he had never helped us. What GREAT customer service! Price - I feel the price is very affordable especially for the quality of food. Right now this is a place that the BF and I frequent. When it comes to pho at the moment, this place is what's usually mentioned first before listing other alternatives. Keep in mind, this place is clear across town for us too. The pho here is very different from most places, the broth is very clear but it doesn't mean it lacks flavor. It's really a technique or method they do here. The broth is flavorful, I don't have to drown it in sauces and curbs my pho cravings. I will mention when we ordered the oxtail pho, the oxtail itself was a little chewy, not super tender. The hu tieu is good, and I had no complaints about it. With the bun bo hue, this is probably the only other place I've tried it at here in Reno (usually eat at bun bo hue an nam in SJ) and it's actually not bad. I didn't have to put shrimp paste in the broth because it was well balanced. The only thing I was sad about was they didn't have any pork blood or that pork hock that I look forward to, but it did have the cha lua. Overall, If I'm craving for bun bo hue, this place will satisfy my craving. Overall I'm a fan of this place. Friendly service, they socially distance tables, staff wear masks, there's hand sanitizer on the tables, and they've been consistent with their food since I've been coming. read more

Friendly service and really good covid measures- all employees consistently and properly masked! And still kind and courteous and timely as well. We were quickly seated, given a menu and food came out fresh and in large portions! The colorful bowls were so fun to eat out of. I ordered the shrimp lemongrass noodles which were amazing- shrimp wasn't chewy at all just rich and meaty with that decadent honey sauce!! (And the dish was a recommendation from our server) and my bf really enjoyed his bahn mi- it was the perfect amount of pickled carrots and onions with lots of meat. The only thing he mentioned was that the bread could be fresher. Price was super reasonable-$8 for the bahn mi sandwich and shrimp lemongrass dish was $11. If you're looking for a casual, flavorful, quick and no frills dinner - this is a great option! Will definitely come back to satiate some cravings in the future. read more

My gripe with most Vietnamese restaurants in the US is that the fish sauce isn't strong enough!! I get it though...since the majority of customers may not be accustomed to stronger smells or flavors businesses have to water things down to stay afloat. I got the grilled pork and egg roll vermicelli which was pretty good and authentic. Only thing that wasn't was the fish sauce and for some reason they gave me sweet n sour sauce for the egg rolls on the side which I was confused about lol. Served in a huge bowl but I would say serving size leans on the smaller side compared to other Vietnamese restaurants I've been to. read more

I returned here after being away for a few years, and I'm so happy to find that they are just as good as I remember. I've gotten their banh mi to-go a couple times, and I'm never disappointed. This time we came to dine in. I was very impressed with their efficiency. We were sat down, ordered, served, and out the door so fast with almost no wait time. All the staff is working so smoothly! Food was great, especially the bun. Fresh and tasty, just like I remember. Also, the decor inside is adorable. Will definitely keep coming back. read more

I came for lunch. The soup was a nice chicken soup with cabbage, bok choy, and some chicken in a delicious broth. I ordered the Kung Pow Chicken. It was decent, but pedestrian. It was lunch, and since I wasn't driving, and I was just doing errands, I ordered a merlot. The server forgot it. That's ok. I don't need that anyway. Sadly, I was never checked in on during the meal. If I had been, I would have kindly reminded them of my drink order. The soup was the best part. It is better than the Chinese bear across the street. If I had the option, it would be 3.5/5. read more

Why is there a time limit to eat here?
There is a time limit if you send the food back to the kitchen. They will print out your check and put it on your table even if you never requested the check.
Do they serve Imperial rolls? The difference between Imperial rolls and egg rolls is the wrapper. Imperial rolls are wrapped in rice flour wrappers. Egg rolls (Chinese style) are wrapped in wheat flour wrappers. Both are deep fried.
